You had to know with the incredible success of Fatal Attraction that copycat films would be crawling out of the woodwork.
Here's one - Web of Deception from 1994, starring Powers Boothe and Pam Dawber, directed by Richard Colla. Boothe plays a psychiatrist who has managed during 12 years of marriage to cheat on his wife with three different women. She only knows about one affair but forgave him.
He does love his wife in his way and is trying to remain faithful when he becomes aware of a woman (Lisa Collins) who is stalking him. She is deeply disturbed and kills herself after setting him up for her murder.
She obviously realized that law enforcement was made up of a bunch of idiots because he's arrested and headed for the electric chair within minutes.
One does wonder how or if he's going to prove his innocence, so the film holds interest. The handsome Boothe does a terrific job. His scenes with his children are especially good. Dawber is excellent as a woman in love with her husband, devastated and hurt by his actions.
Recommended for Boothe's performance.
