Foundation season 3 may address a tantalizingly vague storyline from the source material. Apple TV+ made significant changes to Asimov's Foundation books for modern tastes. A flashback episode focusing on Demerzel's past in the Robot Wars could be engaging.
Apple TV+'s Foundation has teased a storyline from the source material several times, and it's getting to the point where I'm desperate for it to be directly addressed in the coming season. Foundation season 2's ending left plenty of cliffhangers for Foundation season 3 to address, but I still hope there's room in the next run of episodes to explain part of the show's canon that has been left tantalizingly vague. If not, it feels like a massive waste of what could be a very rewarding sequence of events - even if the events in question are in Foundation's distant past.
Apple TV+ has made several changes to Issac Asimov's Foundation books while adapting them for TV.

Gareth Edwards would be a great director for the fifth Thor movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Gareth Edwards' directing sensibilities could bring the Midgard Serpent to life similar to how he did Godzilla. Gareth Edwards' experience with horror, kaiju and sci-fi could evolve Thor into a more cosmic spectacle.
Despite some box office disappointments like The Marvels, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be carrying on, albeit with a more measured stance. Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are still on course with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Thor: Love and Thunder director, Taika Waititi, stated a fifth Thor movie is in the works.
Though he won't be in the director's chair this time around, Waititi remarked on the possibility of Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the Odinson. To top it off, rumors online suggest Gareth Edwards may helm the new Thor adventure. Interestingly, given what...

Marc Thorpe, the visual effects artist who worked on several “Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars” films before launching the bot battling competition Robot Wars, has died. He was 77.
Thorpe died Friday of complications related to Parkinson’s Disease, his daughter Megan Feffer shared on Facebook.
“For him, early onset Parkinson’s disease started out with relatively mild tremors and then over time progressed toward less and less bodily autonomy — something particularly torturous for a fiercely independent artist like my dad whose joy in life was to create things with his hands,” Feffer wrote.
“While the disease itself is not technically considered terminal, it does eventually remove crucial functions like movement and swallowing – functions essential for life,” she continued. “To say the last few months, and especially the last few weeks, were challenging for my dad would be an understatement, and I am grateful that he is finally at peace.”

Marc Thorpe, the visual effects artist who created the hit television series “Robot Wars” in which customized radio-controlled robots fight in metal arenas, has died. Thorpe was 77.
Thorpe died on Friday at a hospice facility in Alamo, California, according to his daughter Megan Feffer. Thorpe’s death resulted from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Doctors first diagnosed Thorpe with the progressive nervous system disorder in 1993.
“But if there’s one thing I know for sure it’s that my dad would want to be remembered – and not for his Parkinson’s Disease. He would want to be remembered for his art,” Megan Feffer wrote on Facebook.
She added: “From being a model maker at Ilm on ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ to his creation of ‘Robot Wars,’ he made many, many beautiful, weird, detailed and strange things.”
In 1979, Thorpe started working at Industrial Light and Magic/Lucasfilm as a model maker and animatronic designer.

Against all odds, "Mystery Science Theater 3000" manages to keep surviving thanks to a dedicated fanbase who never gets tired of seeing awful, old movies get mocked relentlessly. After the show disappeared for awhile, a crowdfunding campaign in 2015 promised to bring it back with a vengeance, and Netflix jumped on board to bring it to the masses in 2017, ending an 18-year hiatus. After that, creator Joel Hodgson got fans to help fund the show's 13th season, as well as the creation of the Gizmoplex, a dedicated website and distribution platform to give fans more new episodes of the show. Season 13 was released last year, and it even made it over to the "MST3K" channel on PlutoTV. Now, Hodgson is hoping to come back for more.
Today, Joel Hodgson announced a new crowdfunding campaign to help make "Mystery Science Theater 3000" season 14. This new campaign is being launched under the show's new in-house crowdfunding platform,...

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Foundation season 2, episode 10.
Foundation season 2's ending sets up multiple storylines for season 3. The show, as well as the Isaac Asimov novels, help predict what happens next in Foundation. For example, Demerzel may know when the Cleon Dynasty ends and may have gained further knowledge through obtaining the Prime Radiant, hinting at the Empire's eventual fall.
Following Foundation season 2's ending, many theories for what happens in season 3 can be drawn from mixing ideas from the show and Isaac Asimov's books. Foundation season 2's terrific conclusion saw meandering plot lines connect with exciting twists and shocking reveals. Notably, the tragic story of Demerzel and her role in the grander scheme of Cleon I was revealed. Brother Dawn and Queen Sareth escaped Trantor with a baby. New Cleon clones were brought out to take over the rule of the Galactic Empire. Gaal's link to...

Demerzel is revealed to be the true heir to the Empire and had a complicated relationship with Cleon I, which led to the quirks in her programming. The character of Demerzel is based on R. Daneel Olivaw from Isaac Asimov's Foundation prequel, but there are differences in her portrayal and abilities. Demerzel's story is not yet complete, with more significant flashbacks planned, and she will remain influential in future seasons, whether by exploring the Robot Wars or in her dealings with the Prime Radiant.
The Foundation season 2 finale has finally confirmed what became increasingly evident all along: not only is Demerzel the power behind the Cleonic Dynasty's throne, but she is the true heir to Empire. A series of flashbacks revealed that the original Cleon I fell in love with her while she was imprisoned by his father, eventually foregoing his own marriage to make her his queen — and choosing...

Exclusive: Channel 4’s Craig Charles-hosted daytime format Moneybags has become the network’s first show from its £30M ($40.6M) Global Format Fund to be recommissioned for a second season.
The fund is intended for international-facing formats that will appeal to both UK and global audiences and can be sold around the world.
Four have been commissioned so far, of which Moneybags, from former Endemol execs Lucas Church and David Flynn’s Youngest Media’s northern English hub, is the first to be given a second series and will air another 30 episodes later this year.
The high-stakes quiz tests contestants’ ability to think quickly as they answer each question by grabbing a moneybag with the correct answer when it passes along a conveyor belt. Those who grab the right answer earn that bag’s value, which can be anything from £1,000 to £100,000. Contestants risk losing everything if they pick up the wrong bag.

Mystery Science Theater 3000’s Turkey Day isn’t just an annual marathon of classic episodes to sit back and watch on Thanksgiving. Depending on the timing, fans watch it hoping to see some kind of news. In this era when MST3K’s always in flux, viewers have their fingers crossed that we’re going to see some kind of look into the future of the franchise. Luckily, Turkey Day 2021 gave us plenty to sink our teeth into.
To get us back up to speed, after years of being off TV, a Kickstarter campaign started up in 2015 and successfully brought MST3K back for an eleventh season on Netflix for 2017. It ran for fourteen episodes and while the new cast needed some time to figure themselves out, it had plenty of high notes. Then things seemed to wither before it had a chance to soar.

When it comes to Thanksgiving, we all have our non-eating traditions. Many like to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or check out a game or two of football. For many a geek, Thanksgiving is a day that lets us sit back and watch a whole lot of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It’s part of the show’s DNA. The first episode debuted back on Thanksgiving in 1988. Then the idea of a Thanksgiving marathon became a regular part of Comedy Central’s calendar. Years later, MST3K episodes would be spread through Thanksgiving whether or not there was any news on new seasons being in the works.
Luckily, this is one of those years where there’s a new season in the works! As we await MST3K Season 13, we’ll get another MST3K Turkey Day on our plate to enjoy. On November 25, starting at 9am Et, we’re getting eight classic episodes.

Child’s Play has a lot to answer for… actually scratch that. The killer doll cliche in horror films goes back a lot further than that , in fact it goes all the way back to the 1930s with The Devil-Doll. Since then there have been a myriad of killer doll (or killer toy to be more precise) films – culminating in the late 80s renaissance and films like Child’s Play, Dolls, Puppet Master, Dolly Dearest; hell, even the Silent Night, Deadly Night franchise switched to killer toys for its fifth instalment in 1991.. The idea of dolls and toys coming to life and attacking their owners is one that still instills fear in audiences. If the films are done right that is.

In the early 90s Full Moon dipped their toe into the giant-robot market with three films that, in the intervening years, have gained somewhat of a cult following – Robot Jox, Crash and Burn and this latest DVD release from 88 Films, Robot Wars.
Toward the end of the 21st Century two great powers dominated the world, a division that resulted from a 30-year war known as the War of the Hemispheres. The war came to an end with the creation of giant, indestructible mega-robots designed for military missions and balance of power. Recently, the mega-robot has become a tourist attraction and is used for tours through the wasteland. While on one such tour, the Mras-2 is attacked by an extremely violent terrorist group known as the Murdaggians.

Most of us fell in love with actress Barbara Crampton after her portrayal of Megan Halsey in Stuart Gordon's cult classic Lovecraftian horror comedy Re-Animator in 1985.
In the film she gets mixed up in the bizarre experiments of Dr. Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), who can reanimate the dead, and must suffer through one of the most insane moments involving a severed head in cinema ever.
From there Crampton continued to win us over with her countless other performances in independent genre films like From Beyond and Castle Freak (reuniting her with both Gordon and Combs) as well as with her roles in other B-movie delights like Chopping Mall, Puppet Master, Trancers II and Robot Wars.
After taking some time off to raise her family, Crampton has now made it back on the indie horror scene with roles in Adam Wingard's You're Next and in Rob Zombie's upcoming The Lords of Salem,...

Forget Transformers! The ultimate retro giant battling robot movie was Stuart Gordon’s Robot Jox (1990 aka Robojox) filmed in Italy with old-school stop motion giant robot battles shot here in the U.S. These rock-em-sock-em style behemoths complete with flamethrowers, lasers, giant rope-saws, and rocket propelled boxing gloves were crude, but their crunching and bashing were a sight to behold in the days before CGI. It was a fairly expensive movie from producer Charles Band’s Empire Productions (which churned out gems like Re-Gordon’s Re-animator and the original Troll) but was poorly marketed and was said to have bankrupted the studio. Robojox, though poorly written and acted, was a lot of fun when I saw it at the theater over 20 years ago, a sort of live-action mecha anime, and it is available in a nice full-screen DVD on the MGM label.

The Films:
Shout! Factory is back with another double-bill release, and this time it’s from Full Moon Entertainment.
Crash and Burn isn’t the giant robot movie as the DVD cover promises. Instead however, it’s a fairly entertaining futuristic slasher movie, that happens to feature a huge robot once or twice. Charles Band might be recognizable for the crap he does now, but 20 years ago, I’ll defend him as a filmmaker who knew how to work with little and make the most out of it. It certainly shows here. Set in 2030, the film has this “Big Brother” government conspiracy subplot, solid acting from Jack McGee and Bill Moseley, and some cool atmosphere.
Too bad it’s billed as a giant robot movie, because that sets itself up for people to be disappointed in the outcome, which the film plays more like a campy version of The Terminator.

Battle: Los Angeles
There was a lot to like here: solid cast, great non-stop action, cool aliens, gritty cinematography, and yet, it’s all just overkill. Characters are one-dimensional and for all of that non-stop action, it’s a CGI bludgeoning that gets old fast. It’s Black Hawk Down meets ID4 but isn’t as cool as that sounds. (Formats: Blu-ray/DVD) Jon says: Rent Donny says: Buy
Red Riding Hood

Chicago – At her book signing at Borders in Oakbrook, Illinois, a couple weeks back, actress Lisa Rinna had time to talk with HollywoodChicago.com about the trials and triumphs chronicled in her book “Rinnavation: Getting Your Best Life Ever.”
Lisa Rinna loves Chicago, having got her start as a catalog model here for Sears and J.C. Penney’s. Among her favorite things about the Windy City is her love for Garrett’s Popcorn, and she was lucky to have a admirer deliver a bucket to the book signing, squealing with delight when it was given to her.
