great croatian movie

This movie is about Dora Pejacevic, Croatian female music composer, but what's interesting is that this is not biographical movie, but the movie about emotions, love, hate and Croatia in 19th century. Rade Serbedjija is fantastic in the role of strange and funny drunk who influenced Dora Pejacevic's life. Alma Prica is one of the best Croatian actress and in this film that's visible. The lack of money for production prevents me to give this film even more than 8.

Filmed as both feature film and 6-part TV-series. After principal photography in 1990, it took 3 years to its limited opening in cinemas, mostly due to war in Croatia (1991-1995). It took a few years more for TV-series showing on Croatian national TV (HTV).
