One must be wary of the rating systems on IMDb. As one can see from the website's list of the 250 highest-rated movies (which is selected by its users), IMDb tends to favor ultra-masculine stories centering on criminals, cops, or soldiers. The top-rated film on its list is Frank Darabont's "The Shawshank Redemption," a 1994 drama about prisoners. Next is Francis Ford Coppola's mafia epic "The Godfather," followed by Christopher Nolan's superhero flick "The Dark Knight." Also hovering near the top are films like "Fight Club," "The Matrix," "12 Angry Men," "Pulp Fiction," and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." These are all excellent films, mind you, but when clustered together, they reveal something about the taste of the average IMDb user: Crime, violence, and male protagonists all seem to rule the roost. In short, the list is very basic.

Subhash K Jha revisits the murder mystery Humraaz, an Abbas-Mustan directed film starring Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna, and Amisha Patel that released in 2002.
How can we forget Alfred Hitchcock’s Dial M For Murder about a husband who hires a charlatan to bump off his wife, when Andrew Davis recently remade the film as A Perfect Murder? Now Abbas-Mustan, the Indian purveyors of slick, intelligent thrillers, give a revivified interpretation to the classic murder thriller .
Humraaz is a gripping Hitch-cock-tale. While the Hollywood films were only about greed and other sleazy motivations Abbas-Mustan add a dash of traditional Indian values to the original when the wife, initially in collusion with her lover to betray her husband, begins to grow progressively conscious of her spousal duties. This is where the film begins to resemble Raghunath Jhalani’s 1978 marital drama Badalte Rishtey where Reena Roy married Jeetendra for his riches but soon...

Hollywood is a strange place and sometimes actors can work with each other and know each other for years. Or in Demi Mooreand Billy Bob Thornton's case, Moore can forget that she'd known Thornton for a while when the two started working on the Paramount+ series Landmantogether. The new Taylor Sheridanseries puts us in Texas when a billionaire named Tommy Norris (Thornton) is trying to race against the other tycoons to get rich from the oil found there. Moore plays Cami Miller, and a good amount of her scenes are opposite star Jon Hamm, but she has worked with Thornton in the past.
But according to Moore at a recent FYC event for the series, she had to be reminded of knowing Thornton. Not only did Thornton work with Moore's ex-husband, Bruce Willis, on movies like Armageddonand The Astronaut Farmer, but he was in a film with Moore before...

Ali Larter spilling a little tea on Landman Season 2 got us thinking whether Taylor Sheridan might be turning over a new leaf. It sounds like he’s actually listened to all those whispers (and shouts!) about Yellowstone‘s, well, let’s just say “adventures in storytelling.” Remember how Yellowstone sometimes felt like it was just making it up as it went along, with plots that vanished faster than a free ranch hand at quitting time?
Larter’s comments give us a glimmer of hope that Landman could be tighter, more focused, and actually wrap things up. Maybe Ts has learned his lesson and is ready to give us a show that’s less “huh?” and more “heck yeah!”

Billy Bob Thornton is still soaking up the overwhelming response to his “international hit” show Landman, saying he is often “afraid” to read reviews, but his wife likes to keep tabs on his press and help keep him informed, whether he likes it or not!
In an interview with Gold Derby prior to an FYC screening at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood on Sunday, Thornton, who plays Texas oil landman Tommy Norris, talked about the show’s overnight success.
“It was pretty quick,” he said. We thought it was going to be big, but like, in Middle America. We didn’t know it was going to be an international hit. We had no idea. So that’s always a nice surprise,” he said of Paramount+ drama series, written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, the highly revered Hollywood heavyweight behind the Yellowstone franchise, known for his exceptional writing and roster of complex characters.

For those who dont know, John Stamos launched his acting career as the rebellious Blackie Parrish on General Hospital from 1982 to 1984. Around the same time, Demi Moore portrayed the iconic Jackie Templeton
While the two are now known to be close friends, their connection may have started with more than just sharing screen time. Both Stamos and Moore have alluded to the possibility of a brief, casual romantic “entanglement” during their early days on the show. Here is more on that!

After a heartbreaking loss to Mikey Madison (Anora) for the Best Actress Oscar, The Substance's Demi Moore's 1996 box office bomb, Striptease, is climbing the global Max top 10 chart. Released during the prime summer season, the film was supposed to be a high-profile box office hit, but ended up being a massive financial failure in North America. It is widely considered one of the worst films of all time.
Striptease was based on Carl Hiassen's 1993 novel and follows Erin Grant, who lost her FBI job after her loser ex-husband, Darrell (Robert Patrick), was arrested for drugs. And soon after, she loses custody of her daughter, Angela to said loser ex-husband. Grant becomes a stripper at the Eager Beaver strip club in Miami, Florida, to get the $15,000 needed to file an appeal for reprieve. Soon, she catches the eye of a creepy Congressman named David Dilbeck (Burt Reynolds).

Is there a kernel of truth to the notion that "popcorn stars" don't win Oscars? It certainly felt that way to fans hoping to see Demi Moore pull off a Best Actress victory at the 2025 Oscars. Her daring performance as Elisabeth Sparkle in The Substance had earned her a Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and SAG Award, putting her in frontrunner position as she arrived at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2. But suddenly, those hopes were dashed when Emma Stone read out the winner: Mikey Madison in Anora.
It wasn't unfamiliar to see one of the biggest box-office draws from decades past lose the big one. Perhaps the Academy couldn't see past what Moore had once been told she was — a popcorn actress. She addressed the demeaning title in her Golden Globes acceptance speech nearly two months prior, stating that a producer called her a “popcorn actress” 30 years ago, which...

What is the net worth of Demi Moore?
From her early days starring in St. Elmo’s Fire to her Brat Pack era to her much more recent full-frontal nude scene in The Substance, she is a Hollywood legend.
She has worked for decades, costarred with and even married other A-listers, and entertained generations.
After all of that, we certainly hope that she’s rolling in dough.

According to online estimates — which we would always be wise to view as educated guesses — Demi Moore’s net worth is around $200 million in 2024.
That is an impressive fortune, even by A-list actor standards.
Her wealth makes her a standout. But then, so does her career, her beauty, and her acting talent.

Kim Basinger won an Academy Award in 1998 for her performance in L.A. Confidential, but even though she’s an Oscar-winner, she says she was “put in a box” of being the typical “bombshell” Hollywood star. In a new interview with Variety, her Batmanco-star, Michael Keaton, and the movie’s producer, Jon Peters, defended her acting chops.
“When you’re extraordinarily beautiful - not beautiful, but extraordinarily beautiful - like Kim, Hollywood doesn’t want to give you your due,” Peters told the outlet. Basinger played reporter Vicki Vale in the iconic Tim Burton-directed Batman (1989), alongside Keaton, who starred as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Woody Harrelson first hit our screens as the somewhat simple but always friendly bartender in Cheers. But since then he has gone on the become a favorite of the big screen, with appearances in Indecent Proposal, Natural Born Killers, and more recently Seven Ponds with Will Smith.
But in between starring in some of recent cinema’s most memorable movies, Harrelson has also become known as an environmental activist who is not scared to go out on a limb to save the planet.
He once scaled the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco with members of North Coast Earth First! group to unfurl a banner that read, “Aren’t ancient redwoods more precious than gold?” and traveled the American West Coast on a bike and domino caravan with a hemp oil-fueled biodiesel bus.

Ben Affleck’s Hollywood career is a fascinating case study in terms of its erratic rise and fall over nearly 3 decades. Since his Oscar-winning debut in Good Will Hunting, Affleck has been a golden property for the industry despite his intermittent stretches of bad moviemaking choices mingling with the good.

However, the 2010 film, The Town almost turned one of Affleck’s stretches of success into a bad call for all the actors involved.

Hollywood has always had a complicated relationship with films about strippers. On one hand, they’re drenched in a neon glow of intrigue, drama, and rebellion. On the other, they often end up as cautionary tales, both on-screen and off.
Few actresses know this better than Demi Moore, whose ambitious attempt to bring a high-profile stripper story to life in the ’90s resulted in an industry backlash she didn’t see coming. Decades later, Mikey Madison is stepping into a similar world with Anora, but in a completely different cinematic landscape.

We know that Demi Moore is overdue for an Oscar, having never been nominated, and that the Golden Globe was the first award she has ever won. And she gave a great speech that landed her the Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
But that narrative is not the only reason Moore will win her first gold man.
The 62-year-old veteran has been on the awards stump since “The Substance” (Mubi) wowed Cannes. Coralie Fargeat‘s feminist body horror movie clearly plays well for a global audience. But here’s the crucial thing that will put Moore over the top. At a recent Q&a with me at the WGA Theatre, as Moore sat with her tiny chihuahua Pilaf in her lap, the audience leaned in. They responded to her message of change and renewal, of freedom and uplift. They were listening to a spiritual guru.

For Demi Moore, there was no escaping her own image in “The Substance.” As Elisabeth Sparkle, a fading star who injects a dubious drug to spawn a younger version of herself named Sue (Margaret Qualley), Moore spends the majority of the film alone, her only scene partner her reflection in the mirror — or the giant, floor-to-ceiling portrait that looms over her living room like a shrine to the past. Over and over, Elisabeth engages with her reflection, forever dissatisfied with what she sees, which eventually is a hunchbacked, bald woman preternaturally aged due to an abuse of the sickly green solution.
These scenes presented Moore with a steep acting challenge. “I feared being repetitive. Like, is this going to be boring?” she said. “We all know our tendency is to find what’s wrong when we look in the mirror. There’s an intimacy that we experience looking at ourselves and it was definitely uncomfortable.

Demi Moore Recalls Studio Executive Who Questioned Why There Was ‘No Love Scene’ in ‘A Few Good Men’
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival honored Oscars Best Actress nominee Demi Moore with a career retrospective for its 40th edition. From screenings including “Indecent Proposal” and “Ghost,” Moore joined festival Director Roger Durling for a Q&a following the Sunday, February 9 screening of Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance.”
In a wide-ranging conversation spanning the actor’s filmography, Moore reflected on 1992’s “A Few Good Men.” Durling gave credit to the filmmakers for the revolutionary act of not romanticizing her relationship with co-star Tom Cruise. “I think at that time I really, you know, have to give my my incredible thanks to Rob Reiner and Aaron Sorkin because they really stood up to the studio to really take a stand that the relationship was better than needing to have it devolve into something romantic because it was Tom Cruise and myself,” Moore said.

On a particularly gloomy afternoon in Los Angeles, Demi Moore walks into the room, her presence instantly brightening the space. Dressed in a chic yet relaxed ensemble, she carries her designer handbag, —but her adorable, tiny, wide-eyed puppy is not with her.
Moore is no stranger to reinvention. With all the awards attention thatDemi Moore has been receiving for The Substance, people have been looking back on her most iconic roles. Whule the first to come to mind for many will be the likes of Ghost and Indecent Proposal, you shouldn’t forget that one time she got to play a campy supervillain in the 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. The spy sequel's over-the-top energy makes it feel like a live-action cartoon while toning down the hyper-sexualized male gaze from the first film and giving more power to its main trio, along with a different Big Bad for them to face. You don’t bring in Demi Moore to be a henchman, she is a badass “Fallen Angel” who raises some hell. With Demi Moore getting a new dose of fame, it’s time for her role in one of Disney’s more underappreciated movies to get some respect!
If there’s one thing Hollywood loves, it’s a comeback story. 2022 was a notable example as Brendan Fraser, the one-time box office star of the late 1990s, had been quiet for a long time due to personal issues. Fraser made a big splash with his transformative role in the drama The Whale.
That same year featured the remarkable tale of Ke Huy Quan, a former child star of the 1980s who dropped out of the business because he couldn’t find good roles. He landed one in the wild action drama Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won seven Oscars, including Best Picture.
Thus, on Oscar Night 2023, Fraser and Quan were sharing photos with their respective Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards.

Last mast month, it was finally confirmed that Disney is officially moving forward with a live-action Tangled movie. The Greatest Showman and Better Man director Michael Gracey has been eyed to helm the project, with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (I Know What You Did Last Summer) penning the screenplay.
Casting rumours continue to swirl, with Black Widow and Thunderbolts* star Florence Pugh still the supposed frontrunner to play Rapunzel. There's been no word on plans for Flynn, though the villainous Mother Gothel also appears to be a highly sought-after role.

The time has finally come for Demi Moore, thanks to a body horror movie satire that became an unexpected awards-season favorite. The Substance proves that horror can still break through with voters known for leaning towards more prestigious fare, racking up a total of five 2025 Oscar nominations, including Moore, who earned her first-ever Oscar nod for Best Actress.
The actress, whose career spans 45 years, numerous beloved films, and several box office hits, was one of five names nominated for Best Actress this morning. The Ghost star is competing against Mikey Madison for Anora, Cynthia Erivo for Wicked, Karla Sofía Gascón for Emilia Pérez, and Fernanda Torres for I'm Still Here. While this could still very much be a wide-open race, many believe that the win comes down to Moore (who is riding the wave of a big comeback) and Madison (the young actress who is having a true A Star Is Born moment).

The best Woody Harrelson movies and TV shows reveal just how underutilized the award-winning actor truly is in many of his most widely recognized roles. Born in Texas in 1961, Woody Harrelson has been an active presence on screens since 1985 (following a brief stint as an uncredited extra in movies like 1978’s Harpy Valley PTA). However, it would take some years before Woody Harrelson managed to find his way to the spotlight, with his big break coming in 1985 with the role of Woody Boyd in the hit sitcom Cheers.
Following his part in Cheers, Woody Harrelson’s career began progressing at a much faster pace. Roles in movies like 1992’s White Men Can’t Jump, 1993’s Indecent Proposal, and 1994’s Natural Born Killers helped keep his name in the spotlight. Audiences couldn’t get enough of his unique vocal delivery thanks to his soothing-yet-invigorating strong Texan accent. As the years progressed, the...

Quick Links 'Bunraku,' Is, in Fact, Style Over Substance Harrelson and Moore Bring It All Together
A Western-styled nomad with a secretive past and a samurai with a family’s honor to defend. For just a moment in 2010, these two culturally defining archetypes came together on the big screen for a martial arts action film unlike any other. 25 years later, some moviegoers still call director Guy Moshe’s third production unlike anything they have ever seen and one of the most unique viewing experiences of their life. On the other hand, The New York Post labeled Bunraku as “mind-numbingly dull”. In their own review, Variety also hopped on the same bandwagon and said that the two-hour excursion was “airless and lifeless.” In this case, which do you believe?

A year ago, Demi Moore represented a bygone era of the 1990s. A prominent star and pop culture icon famous for Ghost and Indecent Proposal, Moore's film career had been relatively dormant until she returned in blazing glory in Coralie Fargeat's body-horror black comedy, The Substance. Her performance as an aging celebrity icon who takes the titular substance to birth a younger, "sexier" version of herself earned her a Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Moore's previous Golden Globe nominations include Ghost and If These Walls Could Talk from the 1990s.

Catherine O’Hara may call the Golden Globes “prestigious,” but Sunday’s live event on CBS/Paramount+ was still the trashy, not-quite-cool but entertaining awards show, as possibly too-young-for-the-room host Nikki Glaser got some laughs (especially around Adam Sandler and Timothée Chalamet) while earning furrowed brows from the likes of Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett. Mainly the audience enjoyed watching stars like Glen Powell and Globe perennial Nicole Kidman (20 nods) smash elbows over free-flowing drinks and Nobu sushi in the Beverly Hilton.
The old Golden Globes cabal of Hollywood foreign correspondents would likely have also voted for Demi Moore in French-flavored “The Substance.” Her passionate speech about the dangers of undervaluing yourself gives her a huge leg up in the Oscar race for Best Actress. Actors understand her feelings, and what Coralie Fargeat’s feminist horror tale “The Substance” is all about.

Demi Moore – the actress knows how to keep the world talking and be relevant even after about 45 years in the industry. Whether it’s shaving her head for G.I. Jane or being one-half of the ‘90s ultimate power couple with Bruce Willis, the actress has always made headlines and the present is no different. While Demi Moore is one of the finest actresses the entertainment industry has to offer, this is the first time she won a Golden Globe award. How did that happen?

For the first time in her 45-year career, Demi Moore won a major film or TV award, taking home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for her work in “The Substance.” Despite roles in films like “Ghost,” “G.I. Jane,” and “Indecent Proposal,” the star had never won, despite two prior Globe nominations and one Primetime Emmy nod.
Finally that streak is over. And in an inspiring speech that was one of the highlights of the awards ceremony, Moore said that this win was validation that she’s no longer just a “popcorn actress” and deserves every minute of her laurels.

Demi Moore landed the first acting award of her career — yes, career — after taking home the Golden Globe for best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy. She won for her go-for-broke performance as an aging celebrity in the body horror satire “The Substance.”
“I’m in shock right now. I’ve been doing this a long time — like, over 45 years — and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor,” Moore, 62, said from the stage at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday night. “I’m so humbled and grateful.”
Moore has been nominated for four Globes across nearly 25 years, scoring prior nods for “Ghost” in 1991 and two for the anthology series “If These Walls Could Talk” in 1997. While she’s won an ensemble award at the Independent Spirit Award for 2012’s “Margin Call,” the prize for “The Substance” is, indeed, Moore’s...

Demi Moore reveals why she nearly stepped away from acting before landing her Golden Globe-nominated role in The Substance. The 2024 body horror film, directed by Coralie Fargeat, stars Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, a faded Hollywood star who resorts to a black-market drug to regain her youth, unleashing a grotesque and horrifying consequence. Margaret Qualley co-stars as Sue, Elisabeth’s younger, better version of herself. The film, known for its shocking practical effects and biting commentary on society's obsession with youth, premiered to critical acclaim at Cannes, where Fargeat won Best Screenplay.
During an Actress Roundtable with the Los Angeles Times, Moore opened up about her struggles with the film industry that almost caused her to leave entirely before she was cast in The Substance. A major star of the 1980s and 1990s, Moore is best known for iconic roles in Blame It on Rio, A Few Good Men, and Indecent Proposal.

Wicked is one of the biggest and best movies of 2024. It's made over half a billion dollars at the box office, surpassing Mamma Mia! to become the most successful movie ever adapted from a stage musical. Fans have been waiting for a movie version of Wicked ever since the musical hit the stage way back in 2003, so it's no surprise that people turned out to see the film.
Before that, Wicked was a book by author Gregory Maguire: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, published in 1995. The book, which reimagines the story of The Wizard of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West's point of view, was a hit right from the start, and there were attempts to turn it into a more straightforward movie before composer Stephen Schwartz got ahold of it and made it a musical smash.

Quick Links Diane Lane Gives the Performance of a Lifetime in 'Unfaithful' 'Unfaithful' Powerfully Showcases How an Affair Can Destroy a Marriage
Halina Reijn's Babygirl represents an erotic thriller that explores the balance of power and sexuality as a professional high-ranking CEO, portrayed by Nicole Kidman, engages in a forbidden affair with a younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson. The director has said that some of her inspiration for the film was the psychosexual thrillers of the '80s and '90s from directors like Paul Verhoeven and Adrian Lyne.
It's fitting then that after a trip to see Babygirl, moviegoers should revisit Lyne's 2002 erotic thriller, Unfaithful. While the director is known more for his Oscar-nominated hits Fatal Attraction and Indecent Proposal, Unfaithful's simplicity, as it explores a woman's need for the excitement that she seems to be missing, is its biggest strength.

Wicked producer Marc Platt and author Gregory Maguire reveal several 1990s stars who wanted to play Glinda and Elphaba. Gregory Maguire's Wicked book was published in 1995, and its success led to a bidding war over the rights among actors who wanted to see it made into a feature-length movie. This bidding war occurred before Wicked became the beloved musical that debuted in 2003 and that is still running on Broadway today.
As shared via Vanity Fair, when Platt joined Universal Pictures, Wicked was initially optioned to Demi Moore's production company, Moving Pictures. This would have included Moore in the role of Elphaba, with Maguire recalling that "I used to say, I can imagine Demi Moore naked and green on the cover of Vanity Fair." At the time, Moore was Hollywood's highest-paid actress and had extensive star power following her roles in A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, and Striptease.

Demi Moore is one of the most commendable actresses of all time, being at the delivering end of masterpieces like her most recent, The Substance, and her old pieces like Ghost (1990) and Indecent Proposal (1993). Then there’s Bruce Willis, who also used to be regarded among the prime actors of his time before frontotemporal dementia got the best of him.
That’s why, when the two got together and decided to tie the knot by saying their I do‘s to each other, fans were nothing short of celebrating this union. The early 1990s were a good time for the now-moribund genre of the erotic thriller. Mainstream Hollywood was pushing the limits of what audiences wanted to see in terms of sex and nudity, and multiple movies tapped into that sexual zeitgeist. Films like "Poison Ivy" (with Drew Barrymore) and "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" (with Rebecca De Mornay) warned that one's babysitters might be there to take over the family with their sexual wiles, while "The Last Seduction," "Jade," "Sliver," and "Color of Night" tinged standard thrillers with a sexual element. Madonna starred in "Body of Evidence," a movie about a woman who accidentally sexed her partner to death. A lot of the genre's popularity was kicked by the assertive sexuality on display in Adrian Lyne's 1987 ultra-hit "Fatal Attraction."
The biggest hits of the day were probably Lyne's "Indecent Proposal" and Paul Verhoeven's "Basic Instinct," with the former making $266 million,...

Ashton Kutcher was one of the first names to be brought into the Sean “Diddy” Combs case when the news first broke out. This is not surprising to many, considering his controversy with Danny Masterson. However, it is important to note that every conversation surrounding his connection to the rapper has no actual evidence to justify the suspicions.

It was a well-known fact that Kutcher and Combs were friends. The actor has been spotted at his parties, they have been photographed together, and he also talked about Combs during an interview with Hot Ones. However, that is not enough to defame someone, dragging their name through the mud and into an ongoing legal case.
Interestingly enough, a source close to the situation even claimed that the actor was being protected from the rapper by his ex-wife, Demi Moore.

Teens want movies and shows to stay in the friend zone.
At a time when films like “Babygirl,” “Poor Things” and “Fair Play” and series such as “Disclaimer” and “Tell Me Lies” are more explicitly sexual, younger audiences are hoping that more Hollywood stars stay clothed on screen and that the entertainment industry focuses on characters who are in platonic relationships. That’s one key finding from a new study conducted by the University of California, Los Angeles’ Center for Scholars & Storytellers. Entitled “Teens & Screens,” the report surveyed roughly 1,500 respondents, aged 10 to 24.
Researchers found that 63.5% of adolescents said they preferred that big and small screen stories focus on friendships, while 62.4% said sexual content isn’t needed as a plot device. Those are big jumps from the previous year when 51.5% of those surveyed said they wanted more content about people in platonic relationships, and 47.5% said that they didn’t seek out...

In “Baby Girl”, Nicole Kidman is a CEO who can’t control her lust! The film will be released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, in the USA. Nicole Kidman plays a corporate CEO named Romy who decides to have an affair with a younger intern named Samuel played by Harris Dickinson. The temptation and the allure are not just that the intern is younger but that the affair involves Bdsm, sadism, and masochism). Antonio Banderas plays Jacob, the husband. It’s almost hilariously ironic that the actor once described as “so de sexy” in an SNL skit gets his bed robbed by a younger man. Could the young man possibly be more “de sexy”? It was probably the husband’s gray beard that caused his wife to desire “forbidden fruit”. The CEO is not just willing to risk losing her husband but destroying her entire family relationship, i.e her husband and children,...
