Sridevi and Sanjay Dutt in Gumrah (1993)

Trivia

Gumrah

Edit
Rahul Roy was offered the lead role in Gumrah but, later on, his part was trimmed to a friendly appearance, while Sanjay Dutt's role which originally was a cameo was extended. Rahul Roy had various scenes and a couple of songs chopped from the final cut (including the melodious "Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar" shot in breathtaking locales of Mauritius). Yash Johar, the producer, acknowledging Rahul's initial contribution in the movie thanked the actor for his 'friendly appearance' in the opening credits.
Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi was about to work together after 25 years again for Dharma Productions Kalank but due to Sridevi's tragic death She was Replaced by Madhuri Dixit.
The film was well received and was the seventh highest grossing film of that years.
Rahul Roy was upset about the Sridevi slapping scene. It was originally not in the script. He told Mahesh he wish not to do it. He was playing the lead in other films and this scene would affect how people would see him. When he saw the final edit of Gumrah, he was shocked. All his scenes were edited out and the slap scene was retained. Roy regretted doing the film because he did not gain anything from it. He felt cheated by Mahesh Bhatt.
The only film of Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi together.
