The following contains spoilers for Dandadan Season 1, Episode 7, currently streaming on Netflix.
This feature also includes mentions of child kidnapping, physical abuse, and suicide. Reader discretion is advised.
Dandadan's latest episode concluded the Acrobatic Silky arc. In the second story arc of Dandadan, Momo and Okarun have to search for Okarun's missing kintama, his balls, which were stolen before Turbo Granny's defeat. While searching, they encounter a new ally, Aira Shiratoni, and another malevolent yokai: the Acrobatic Silky. In another test of their teamwork, the two have to defeat Acrobatic Silky and save the life of Aira, who has been haunted by the Acrobatic Silky since she was a little girl.
Acrobatic Silky is another yokai that series creator Yukinobu Tatsu gave a lot of thought to. Like the Turbo Granny and even the Serpo, Tatsu has integrated real-life urban legends into the yokai's design and a character-driven tragic backstory.

Gyllenhaal's next film, Guy Ritchie's In The Grey, marks his fifth collaboration with a director, Ritchie and Gyllenhaal's reunion is a testament to their strong working relationship, as seen in their previous film, The Covenant. The potential for Gyllenhaal and Ritchie to continue working together after In The Grey holds promise for future projects.
Jake Gyllenhaal's next action movie In The Grey will see him repeat an all-too-rare directing feat. Since his breakout role in cult favorite Donnie Darko, Jake Gyllenhaal's movie CV has evolved into one of the most interesting of his contemporaries. He occasionally turns up in the most mainstream projects imaginable, but he often opts for more eclectic fare like Nightcrawler. In recent years, the star seems to enjoy making action films, fronting the likes of Michael Bay's Ambulance or Amazon hit Road House.

Oscar-nominated Debra Winger is one of the most enigmatic actresses of her generation. She burst onto the film scene in 1980 with “Urban Cowboy” and in the course of the next three years, she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards as well as two Oscar nominations (for “Officer” and “Terms”). To many female moviegoers in particular, Winger embodied the kind of tough, self-sufficient woman that they aspired to become, yet there was always room within Winger’s characters for love with the right person.
Post-1983, Winger continued to work steadily, earning a fifth Golden Globe nod for 1993’s “A Dangerous Woman” as well as a third Oscar nomination and second BAFTA nom for 1993’s “Shadowlands.” However, after 1995’s romantic comedy “Forget Paris,” Winger virtually disappeared from high-profile films, choosing a semi-retirement with occasional film work now and then. The idea of retiring at the peak of one’s career was...

Remember Baz Luhrmann’s early 2000 film about romance and music in Paris? Yes, we are referring to the 2001 release of the jukebox musical Moulin Rouge!, which film critic Roger Ebert once likened to “being trapped on an elevator with the circus”.
In the 2001 flick, we saw English writer Christian (Ewan McGregor) pen his love story on his typewriter as he mourned the loss of his beloved Satine (Nicole Kidman). You may not be aware, though, that multiple actors tried out for the role of Christian but were not selected. Among them were Leonardo DiCaprio, Heath Ledger, and Jake Gyllenhaal; Ethan Hawke was also considered for the part.

During a recent interview with Howard Stern, the Prisoners actor disclosed that he and Ledger were both “disappointed” about losing the role.

Jake Gyllenhaal is teasing an iconic partnership: starring in a film sister Maggie Gyllenhaal directs.
Maggie made her directorial debut with Oscar-nominated 2021 film “The Lost Daughter.” Jake told People magazine that he would “adore” to be directed by her.
“We talk all the time and we rely on each other,” Jake said. “She sees me for all of my stuff and she can bring that out in me. And I think I would show her vulnerability, probably, I haven’t been able to do onscreen and otherwise, because I trust her and I love her.”
Maggie and Jake have collaborated onscreen together but never behind the camera. The duo played brother and sister in “Donnie Darko” and starred in two films their father Stephen Gyllenhaal helmed, “A Dangerous Woman” and “Homegrown.”
Jake previously told InStyle magazine that he has a project in the works with Maggie directing.

Filmmaking is quite literally in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s genes. Her mother is Oscar-winning screenwriter Naomi Foner (“Running on Empty”) who also directed the 2013 drama “Very Good Girls.” And her father Stephen Gyllenhaal has directed such films as 1992 “Waterland,” which featured his daughter, and 1993 “A Dangerous Woman.” But it took time for the Oscar-nominated actress (“Crazy Heart’) to follow in her parents’ footsteps.
“I think that now I have directed, I can see in a way I always was a director,” she noted in a recent American Cinematheque Zoom conversation with Oscar-winner Guillermo Del Toro (“The Shape of Water”). She added, though, it was so deep into her psyche that “it was even a secret for me.” She recently picked up Gotham Independent Film honors for writing and directing her first film, Netflix’s “The Lost Daughter,” starring Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson, Ed Harris and her husband Peter Sarsgaard.

Jake Gyllenhaal has won over plenty of fans throughout the years. While he may have kicked off his career as a child actor in films like City Slickers and A Dangerous Woman, it wasn't until he broke back into the Hollywood scene as a young adult starring in movies like Donnie Darko and Bubble Boy that people started noticing he was just as hot as he was talented. Some could argue that he has gotten better looking with age, but we can't seem to forget how adorable he was at the start of his adult acting career. So we rounded up 25 photos of the Hollywood A-lister from back in the day. Please enjoy.

A Panel on Screenwriting: Features vs. TV Series
There has been an explosion in TV series over the last five years which has opened more opportunities worldwide to writers, directors and producers than feature film writing.
Paul Federbush, International Director, Feature Film Programs for Sundance Institute moderated a riveting panel of such TV/ feature writers as D.V. DeVincentes who wrote three episodes of the limited TV series (and exec produced five), “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” which won two Primetime Emmys and the feature “High Fidelity”; Erik Jendresen who won a Primetime Emmy for the miniseries “Band of Brothers” and is now working on a limited series which may go from four segments to eight; Naomi Foner who created “The Electric Company” aimed at children ages 7 to 10 to teach basic reading concepts to its young viewers. Jake Gyllenhaal has admitted that he cried when his parents said no to him starring in Mighty Ducks.
The actor, aged 11 at the time, desperately wanted to appear in the 1992 sports comedy, but he was advised by his parents to focus on his education.
"I definitely remember crying on the kitchen counter," said the Southpaw star on Howard Stern's Sirius Xm radio show. "I was like, 'You guys are crazy'.
"My parents were like, 'Look, you're about to enter junior high school, you gotta get your education, that's the most important thing. I promise you, you hate us now, but you'll thank us later,'" Gyllenhaal added. "And I do."
However, the young Gyllenhaal wasn't disappointed for long as his parents allowed him to take a role in A Dangerous Woman the following year. The drama was directed by his father and written by his mother.

The Boyfriend Experience: Foner’s Directorial Debut a Derivative Shard
Screenwriter Naomi Foner makes her directorial debut with Very Good Girls, though her preceding reputation makes this sedimentary, uninspired film even more surprising. Mother of actors Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Foner penned several of ex-husband Stephen Gyllenhaal’s more notable titles, such as Losing Isaiah (1995) and A Dangerous Woman (1993). Considering the authoritative, complicated, and resilient female characters portrayed famously by the likes of Jessica Lange, Halle Berry, and Debra Winger, this trifling and tedious story of a late adolescent friendship tested by mutual attraction to the same boy seems born from the pen of a novice writing about her only familiar focal point,

See the resemblance?
Jake Gyllenhaal, now a star leading man at 30, is actually an old show business pro. The actor, who features in the new sci-fi thriller "Source Code," made his first major big screen appearance as a ten year old in the 1991 Billy Crystal film, "City Slickers."
Gyllenhaal plays Danny, Crystal's gregarious son. It's not a huge part, but he plays an important role, and it would start him on a career path that would get wider with "A Dangerous Woman" and truly open up in his 1999 film, "October Sky."

In his fourth collaboration with the masterful Martin Scorsese, 35-year-old actor Leonardo DiCaprio delivers a captivating performance as a man haunted by his violent past. Together these two artists unravel a psychological thriller of suspense and spooks that recalls a classic Hitchcockian style.
In Shutter Island, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) gathers his nerves for a seemingly inexplicable case at a mental institution for the criminally insane, circa 1954 and the Cold War. A dangerous woman who murdered her three young children escaped from a bolted room under 24-hour watch. ”Get yourself together” Teddy tells himself in the mirror on the ferry ride over, the opening line of a mind-bending movie that rarely allows its audience a moment of comfort.
Teddy and his new partner Chuck (an understated, exquisite Mark Ruffalo) are greeted by a squadron of heavily-armed, jittery guards who bristle at protocol breaches and consistently lurk in the background.

Teddy and his new partner Chuck (an understated, exquisite Mark Ruffalo) are greeted by a squadron of heavily-armed, jittery guards who bristle at protocol breaches and consistently lurk in the background.
