    Cat III classic!

While there is much to be desired in terms of plot, 'Women on the Run' delivers plenty of action, good performances from the female leads and enough violence and nudity to deserve it's category III rating. It concerns the plight of two women who both find themselves betrayed by the men they love. It's a violent female 'buddy' movie, with two mismatched heroines, a policewoman (Cheung) & a drug addicted prostitute(Guo) joining forces to gain revenge. It was nice though to see the women given the bulk of the action as no male 'love interest' appears halfway through the movie to protect the leads and hog the action. The fights themselves are plentiful & very well done. Cheung is an effective fighter & Tamara Guo briefly fights naked twice, firstly handing a short beating out to a disrespectful client and later as she unsuccessfully fights off a horde of rapists. One thing which can be disliked about Cat III movies is the rape of women seems to a standard plot device however lethal the women may be. Cheung & Guo defeat legions of guys before and after the gang rape but become weak victims as soon as the guys unzip their pants (thankfully the rape is not shown). Despite the proficiency of Cheung & Guo, the standout performer is the villain 'King Kong', played by Jeung Yuen, who is incredible in a fight with the female leads.

Now available on DVD, 'Women on the Run' is trashy, sleazy late night fare, but highly recommended!.

    Actually not bad...

I had actually never heard about this 1991 action thriller titled "Chi Luo Kuang Ben" (aka "Women on the Run") from directors David Lai and none other than Corey Yuen himself. I happened to stumble upon the movie here in 2025, by random chance, and given my love of the Hong Kong cinema, of course I had to check out the movie.

Writer Yuen-Leung Poon actually put together a nice and enjoyable script. It was a story that proved to be entertained and made for a wholesome viewing experience. Personally I think the nude scenes could have been cut out of the movie, as they served no purpose to further the narrative, and seemed to be in the movie solely to make the movie appeal to a young adult male audience.

Despite having watched a lot of Hong Kong movies, then I was not familiar with leading actresses Tamara Guo and Farini Cheung, but they did carry the movie nicely and were well-cast for the movie. The only familiar face on the screen was Corey Yuen in a mere small role.

"Chi Luo Kuang Ben" had a good amount of action and fighting in it, which definitely helped to spruce up the narrative.

This was a watchable and enjoyable action thriller, but also had drama elements to it.

My rating of "Chi Luo Kuang Ben" lands on a six out of ten stars.

Great movie in the right setting.

I Saw this movie in an outdoor theatre in Bobo-Diaolassou (that's in West Africa) It was dubbed into English with French subtitles going from left to right and Arabic from right to left. The most entertaining part was comparing the English to the French. At one point the Chief laments "They shot your d*** off!!" While the French subtitle reads "I'm so sorry!"

Entertaining but sloppy and formulaic action film

Low-budget and rather sloppy Asian actioner, about a gorgeous woman cop on the run with the gorgeous hooker she has made into an informant, evading both the crooks and the corrupt cops who have betrayed them. The numerous Jackie Chan-styled action scenes are great, benefiting from Corey Yuen's experience as action director for Jet Li and others, and the two girls who kick ass throughout the film and wonderful to watch. It's a worthwhile entertainment for this sort of film, but doesn't try to add anything new to the formula, and the direction (by Corey Yuen, co-directing for the first time, with David Lai) doesn't really lend itself to coherency either.

    Bad

Perfect example of a bad Hong Kong film: cheap & trashy. Boosts one cool stunt at the beginning and a nice fight scene at the end, but the rest is terrible. Some ridiculous attempts to add a feminist touch to the film.

Jackie Chan asked Won Jin to star in Police Story 3: Supercop (1992). But out of loyalty to director David Lai he had to turn it down, as he had already agreed to star in Lai's film Women On The Run, which was filming at the same time.
