Filmed when the X-Games (then called X-Games 101) started becoming popular and in-line skating was the craze. Chris Edwards (Walt and skating double for Mitchell) was a well known for his X-Games appearances and was one of the members of Team Rollerblade. Ironically, Edwards' character Walt is revealed to be a poor skater in the final race, matching Wiley's performance.

This movie was totally underestimated!!!

So far I have only read ONE good comment about this movie and I truly believe that it deserves more than "it was a really good movie". I mean, have any of you actually understood the true meaning of this movie? Hello??? Ok, let me give you a CLUE!!! Mitchell(Shane McDermott) isn't just some kid trying to get a date until he gets back to California, but that's what you're thinking, isn't it?? Well, dispite what you may think, Mitchell's (Shane McDermott's)character actually has meaning. If you pay attention to the lines this boy has in the movie, you would realize that it isn't like all the other leading men in the movies, who kicks and punches his opponent at every chance he gets. This boy has morals;so what if he's only 17? People can be mature for their age! He refused to fight Jack and Blaine, and realizes that "you don't have to fight the shark to fight for the wave". How many movies have that kind of positive message today? Hmmmmm? I didn't think you could back that weak dis of a great movie up. Ha!
