Miami private investigator Walter Tatum (Billy Campbell) gets hired by Mr. Cross to find his daughter Gwen Cross (Ally Walker). It's a runaway bride situation. The poor little rich girl jumped off her daddy's yacht to escape her groom and marriage. She ends up leaving her high life for a room in Walter's pad and the secretary job in the firm.
This ABC show was canceled after ten episodes with three unaired. It didn't get much of an audience. Neither Campbell nor Walker are big names even thought they are around a lot. This is the basic bickering man and woman doing private investigating. For me, the gold standard remains Moonlighting. This is a half step below that. Walker does fine as the sassy newbie rich girl trying to make it on her own. This younger Campbell usually plays boy scouts. The role probably needs a bit more edge and more fun. The chemistry is good, not great. The show is good, not great.

This is one of my favourite TV-shows ever. I don't know how many times I've seen it and it's just as good as the first time I saw it.
Bill Campbell and Ally Walker really hit it off in this little number, almost as magical as William Powell and Myrna Loy in the thin Man serials.

Moon over Miami was a very cute show. Bill Campbell played Walter Tatum, a detective. Ally Walker played Gwen, a girl who escaped from her own wedding by jumping off of a boat and swimming to shore. Walter was put on the case to find her, which he did, and later agreed to hire her as his receptionist. Gwen always wanted to help solve a case, which began some sexual tension between she and Walter that lasted until the show ended. It brought about memories of David and Maddie (Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepard) on Moonlighting. If it ever appears in reruns, give it a chance.
What a cute show. Bill Campbell and Ally Walker played off of each other so nicely. I was sorry to see it cancelled.
This used to be my mom's and my favorite show, we loved it. Would love to watch it again but can't seem to find it. Tips anyone?
