Disney’s latest magnum opus, Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, arrived early in selected overseas centers before going all out in the United States. While the makers expected positive momentum from international regions, the reality is heartbreaking. Yes, the European box office response has been poor so far, with France and Italy witnessing undesirable feats.

Reception in the European market

The musical fantasy film, which is a live-action reimagining of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, opened in Europe on Wednesday. On March 19, it opened in France, while in Italy, it arrived on March 20. Among critics, it has fetched poor reviews so far. While the performance of Rachel Zegler is being praised by many, the overall film is getting bashed as a half-hearted attempt.

Following the end of 2019's Avengers: Endgame, multiple beloved characters got their own spinoff series. One of them was Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, who starred in the limited series Hawkeye in 2021.

The Marvel Studios series Hawkeye was the fifth television series in the MCU, and it followed Clint Barton/ Hawkeye teaming up with Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, to confront enemies from his past. It was initially created as a limited series and the show ran for six episodes. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation Brad Winderbaum teased the possibility of Hawkeye Season 2.

Called Melkor at the time, Lord of the Rings' Morgoth sang with the other Ainur in the Ainulindal, a song led by Eru that visualized Arda and its future. Harboring rebellious sentiments, Morgoth's input was discordant, troubling Arda's course before it began.

Looks like Det. Bruno has proved his worth to Capt. Benson: Kevin Kane has been promoted to series regular at Law & Order: Svu, our sister site Deadline reports.

Bruno’s character debuted in Season 24, when Benson’s team became involved in a case under the jurisdiction of Bronx Svu, where Bruno then worked. The character eventually joined Liv and the gang in Manhattan, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Kane was a recurring cast member who last appeared in Season 25’s Episode 13.

Vampires are taking a wacky bite out of summer. In Season 5 of FX and Hulu’s “What We Do In The Shadows,” Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) looks for a vampire who can give him the transformation that Nandor the Relentless has kept from him. But it may not go as planned. The beloved comedy, which takes a mockumentary look at four vampires living in Staten Island, returns on July 14.

Another highly anticipated return coming to Hulu in July is the latest season of long-running animated series “Futurama.” The show’s first four seasons aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, it was then picked up by Comedy Central for three seasons from 2008 to 2013. Now, nearly a decade later, the Mike Judge-created series will return for the first half of the 20-episode Season 8 on July 24 with the original voice cast.

I got around to a lot more movies this week, beginning with last Sunday evening where I caught Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance on Encore. I know everyone pretty much loves Die Hard, but I'm not sure I don't love With a Vengeance a little more, I just love Samuel L. Jackson in that movie and Jeremy Irons is a perfect villain. Things took a bit of a dip when I went to the theater to watch The Boy Next Door, but I quickly resolved that with It Happened One Night, which became my latest Best Movies entry. Then I got a hankering to watch Strangers on a Train after it was recently announced David Fincher, Ben Affleck and Gillian Flynn were looking to put together a remake. As any action fanatic will tell you, Die Hard is among the best films of its type ever made. Tautly directed by John McTiernan, deceptively well shot by cinematographer Jan de Bont, and full of charismatic turns from Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman and Bonnie Bedelia, it’s seldom been bettered, even by its sequels.

The key to the first film's success, and the sequels in their best moments, is hero John McClane. Tough, sarcastic but ultimately human and relatable, he cuts a very different figure from the beefed-up, larger-than-life heroes of 1980s and 90s action cinema. When John McClane gets shot or injured, he actually feels pain. It's something we were keenly aware of in the 1988 original, but gradually ebbed away as the Die Hard franchise drifted from thriller territory...

Ever since Jeremy Irons was announced as the new cinematic Alfred Pennyworth in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans have wondered what his take on the character would be like. Irons is known for having a sort of dark, morally complex presence onscreen, with a disposition that lends itself naturally towards villainy. To hear he was taking over a role that had just been played with such vulnerability and warmth by Michael Caine seemed to signal that this would be a very different Alfred. Irons, out discussing his career after being honored at the Marrakech international film festival, added fuel to the fire.

Bob’s Burgers is back with a vengeance — so great a vengeance that it’s like Die Hard With a Vengeance, only with just the Die Hard part. In the season-five premiere of the Fox animated sitcom this Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Gene finally gets to fulfill his dream of mounting a Die Hard musical. The only problem is his ex-girlfriend, Courtney, who gets the school to put on a Working Girl musical. The studio has been itching to do something with the property ever since the 2007 film raked in $586 million worldwide. They've attempted to get sequels off the ground, and even prequels- which would bring Will Smith back as Robert Neville. Nothing came of those previous attempts, and Smith's reluctance to return likely aided that.

Now the Warners may have found the answer...with a script that's not even based on that film or the 1954 book it was adapted from. When “A Good Day to Die Hard” came out early last year, it was easily the least successful film of the franchise. The movie was critically reviled and only raked in $67 million in the U.S. box office. You would think 20th Century Fox would take this as a sign that they should finally put this franchise to rest, but “A Good Day to Die Hard” somehow managed to become an international hit with $237 million alone. So, of course, that means we’re getting a sixth 'Die Hard' film. If you’re a huge fan of the franchise, however, this rumor may actually perk your interest in a sixth 'Die Hard' film. Rumor has it that Fox is looking into a Die Hard 6 and is currently meeting with potential writers, hoping to find the right pitch for the story. Now, before you groan at the fact that the studio is trying to spit out another movie in a franchise that hasn’t seen a good entry since Die Hard With a Vengeance, listen to this. In order to re-capture the magic of the aforementioned sequel (which truly was the last good Die Hard film), they’re hoping to bring back Samuel L. Jackson to reprise his role as Zeus Carver.

We do not have fond memories of watching A Good Day To Die Hard. The fifth Die Hard film was, for our money, a lumbering mess, and a travesty when you consider the high point from where the Die Hard franchise started. John McClane was now basically Bruce Willis, with the things that defined the character pretty much long gone. It iced the cake that it was cut to get a 12A certificate in the UK.

And yet the film did decent business. Overcoming hostile reviews, A Good Day To Die Hard took $304m in cinemas worldwide (although only $67m of that came in the Us). And that meant that the promised Die Hard 6 - the film that's expected to close of John McClane's screen adventures - was likely to happen.

Titles of note include an Ousmane Sembène dramedy that skewers post-colonial Senegalese bureaucracy - Xala; and, likely more familiar, a role that Pam Grier is maybe most famous for, in Jack Hill's Foxy Brown. Celebrated filmmaker John McTiernan has signed on to direct “Red Squad,” an action film from Hannibal Classics. Great casting news comes from Warner Bros. Pictures today, as they announce that Jeremy Irons (The Borgias, Die Hard With a Vengeance) will be playing the role of Alfred and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) will be Lex Luthor in the upcoming movie formerly known as Batman vs Superman.

That’s right, it’s apparently no longer Batman vs. Superman but is now The Untitled Superman/Batman Movie. Not as catchy, really. Maybe, though, it will be something more in keeping with what looks like a Superman movie with some Batman and Wonder Woman involvement. Note that the release says the script is currently being written. We shall see.

Also please note that there is no mention of Jason Momoa, nor of anyone else playing a villainous role other than Eisenberg as Luthor, but there is confirmation of the return of Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne.

After last week’s onslaught of new stuff, it was perhaps inevitable that this week would be something of a comedown with not much going on. There is some worthwhile new stuff added, the John Milius documentary for one which has debuted on Lovefilm the same time as DVD more or less and, of course, a contender for the worst film of all time. CBS’ Criminal Minds this Wednesday scared up 12.3 million total viewers and a 2.8 demo rating, rising 6 percent and a tenth to hit and tie season highs.

Opening the Eye’s night, Survivor (10.1 mil/2.4) added a few eyeballs but dipped a tenth in the demo. And CSI closed things out with 11 mil/2.1, rising 5 percent and two tenths.

Elsewhere….

ABC | The Middle (8.4 mil/2.2) and Back in the Game (6.1 mil/1.6) both lost some viewers and slipped two tenths in the demo, with the latter hitting a season low. Modern Family (10 mil/3.3) was down 7 and 13 percent, while Super Fun Night (5.7 mil/1.9) inched down a tenth.

Despite the fact that the recent fourth sequel (released earlier this year as A Good Day To Die Hard) failed to impress both fans and critics alike, it seems that Hollywood – and Bruce Willis himself – are still keen to get iconic hero John McClane back in the saddle one last time. At least, we hope it’ll be the last time. The fifth sequel to 1988′s Die Hard, currently going by the working title “Die Hardest,” will focus on Willis’ sardonic New York cop as he attends an anniversary dinner in Tokyo, Japan, to celebrate his heroic acts at the Nakatomi Plaza 30 years previously.
