I watched this movie on Comedy Central a few nights ago, and I really thought it was pretty good. I mean I'm a big fan of Corey Feldman, and I saw that a movie with him was coming on, so I decided to watch it, and it was a good choice. It's definitely funny, and if you like cute guys, you'll enjoy watching Corey and Zach Galligan portray funny guys.
This movie is proof that they must have had such a backlog of bad eighties teen sex comedies that they were still making them in the early nineties. If you are an afficionado of bad movies that show up on late night cable, then perhaps this movie is for you. Corey Feldman and Zach Galligan 'borrow' a Rolls Royce from the garage Corey works at when he is not performing as Boingo the Clown. They get mixed up with a suitcase of counterfeit drug money, an incompetent gangster played by Ray Sharkey, and a beauty pageant of models at a beachside resort. For a trashy, talentless movie, this is gold. Look for former Playboy model Julie McCullough as the girl next door with a heart of gold who wants to be a model. She is, of course, unnoticed by the guys early in the film because she wears, gasp, glasses! A true classic of cinema dreck.
If you're a corey feldman or zach galligan fan you will eat this up but its neither entertaining nor funny ... the nudity was gratuitous as expected in this type of film ... julie mccullough was her bright and shining self and perhaps the only part of this film worth watching ... the rest of the supporting cast did zany things like a formula comedic film ... if you have time to waste, go review julie's playmate photos and forget this load of crap
This movie essentially begins with a dangerous criminal known simply as "Stoneface" (Ray Sharkey) stealing a briefcase full of valuable merchandise and attempting to outrun the other crooks who are chasing him. One thing leads to another but eventually all of the criminals are caught by the police. However, just prior to being apprehended, Stoneface stows the briefcase into a black Rolls Royce which has been parked at a service garage pending the installation of a new stereo system. The scene then shifts to two unambitious men named "Larry Page" (Corey Feldman) and his cousin "Steve" (Zach Galligan) who work at this garage and decide to take the car to Palm Springs over the weekend so that Larry can meet a popular swimsuit model he fantasizes about named "April Summer" (Rowanne Brewer). Likewise, unknown to either Larry or Steve, a good friend of theirs by the name of "Lucille Johnson" (Julie McCullough) has also entered this same beauty pageant in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, on the way there, her taxi is hijacked by Stoneface, who then orders the driver to follow the black Rolls Royce--all the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs. What Stoneface doesn't realize, however, is that he is being followed by two LAPD detectives named "Melvin" (Steve Vinovich) and "Ed" (Ivory Ocean) who are intent on arresting him and recovering whatever merchandise is in the briefcase. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that, despite the presence of a couple of notable actors like Corey Feldman and Zach Galligan, this film lacked the necessary humor to really make much of an impression on me. Admittedly, it does have several beautiful actresses like Brioni Farrell (as "Melanie"), Kristine Rose ("Tina"), Amy Rochelle ("Yvette") and the aforementioned Julie McCullough and Rowanne Brewer to brighten the scenery. Unfortunately, none of them were capable of transforming this rather dull film into something really remarkable, and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly below average.
A lot of people are hating on this film because yes, it's a silly, yes there's lots of nudity and not-so-funny sex gags but if you don't take it too seriously it can be a fun watch. If you're a fan of Corey Feldman and Zach Galligan, you'll enjoy this even more since they were together in Gremlins. Some of the gags are very awkward and I did find humour in that. Julie McCullough is stunning in this film, her transformation from a nerdy pizza parlour employee into a model is wonderful. If you do fancy giving it a watch, It's pretty hard to find it, but you can rent or buy it on Amazon Prime. Be warned, the video quality is pretty had since it's probably never had a proper HD scan, but it's more than watchable!
