Jaume Collet-Serra has a fascinating filmography that gets more and more interesting as time goes on. His debut feature was the aughts horror "House of Wax" remake, but he's now at the helm of the DC superhero movie "Black Adam." While the general public may know him best for his films like the Dwayne Johnson-starring "Jungle Cruise" or the Liam Neeson action thrillers "Unknown," "Non-Stop," "Run All Night," and "The Commuter," to horror fans, he'll always be the man behind "Orphan" and "The Shallows." After his foray into the DC Extended Universe, Jaume Collet-Serra is returning to his thrilling roots with the new film "Carry On."
"Carry On" marks the first collaborative effort between Netflix and Amblin as part of the overall deal Amblin signed with the streaming giant last year. Tj Fixman was behind the screenplay's first draft, with Michael Green providing the finishing touches. No word yet...

Netflix is officially getting into the vigilante superhero movie game with Past Midnight. The streaming service has been pouring tons of money into original content lately, doing their best to make themselves a major player in every department. That includes bringing blockbuster movies directly to their subscribers. Their latest attempt is Past Midnight, which is set to be directed by Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), with Keanu Reeves being eyed to star. Details are currently a little scarce, but this looks to be a major project for Netflix.
According to a new report, the script for Past Midnight, which was written by Tj Fixman, was subject to a bit of a bidding war, but other suitors for the project weren't named in the report. Part of what makes the project so appealing, apart from being a superhero movie in an age where superhero movies continue to be by far the biggest movies on the planet,...

Netflix has picked up a new superhero project called Past Midnight, which will center around a "new kind of vigilante superhero" and Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in it!
The film will be directed by Dope director Rick Famuyiwa and it will be produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are best known for directing the last two Captain America movies and the upcoming Avengers films.
Details on the plot are being kept under wraps, all we know at this point is that it will introduce us to a new kind of vigilante hero. There's some great talent attached to it, though, and if Keanu Reeves signs up, you know it's going to be awesome!

Keanu Reeves may soon become a superhero, thanks to Netflix’s Past Midnight. Netflix continues to look for new original content to add to their library, and aren’t shying away from the type of content that has made them so popular. After finding great success with Marvel TV by bringing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher to life, they’re still looking to find more superhero content. In an effort to branch out beyond Marvel, they’ve already ordered a superhero series starring Michael B. Jordan.

After the wildly popular reception of the “It” trailer, author Stephen King tweeted a message on April 4 that made fans very hopeful for the adaptations slated to drop in 2017:
The Mist, Mr. Mercedes, 1922, Gerald’S Game, The Dark Tower, and It: Believe it or not, they all look awesome.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) April 4, 2017
King’s films and TV series have a tendency to be varied in terms of quality, but if that tweet is to be believed, there’s a definitely a renaissance afoot. Now that filmmakers seem to be able to hit the right tone from his work, here are five properties which have never been adapted that could make for successful endeavors, along with director and lead actor picks that would be pitch-perfect. To narrow down the picks, any novel or short story that is in some stage of acquisition, development, or that has been made already is ineligible.

In the 35 years since Carrie came to our screens, Stephen King has become one of the most bankable names in horror and fantasy film. The list of adaptations of his work reads like a who’s-who of filmmaking: Carrie, Salem’s Lot, The Shining, Creepshow, Christine, The Dead Zone, Stand By Me, Pet Semetary, It, Misery, The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, The Green Mile etc., etc.. It’s hard to think of any other living writer whose work has been so prolifically embraced by filmmakers.
But just as Stephen King has continued to write (despite threatening retirement in 2002), so the public’s appetite for his work remains. While recent adaptations like Secret Window and 1408 have hardly been stellar, there are plenty of other King works which would make for riveting viewing. Here are 5 that we think should be at the top of any film executive’s list for green-lighting.

Horror fanatics are still buzzing like chainsaws over the Academy Awards’ genre montage. Anywhere there could be a conversation about it online, there was one. Many were upset over the Twilight ‘tweens’ participation, as if their mere presence sent a message about the state of scary in Hollyweird, USA.
A few seemed happy, though, to just get a glimpse of their beloved Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 if only for a few seconds. But many called the selections generic and thoughtless, demanding the likes of Demons and TerrorVision instead (well, maybe not TerrorVision; that was just me).
How about Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer? Re-Animator? It’s Alive? Tombs of the Blind Dead? Coffin Joe? No list is perfect, but with a bit more care and a phone call to any one of us, the Oscars could have elevated that section into a real scream. Or maybe they...

Finished with "Under the Dome," or still wading through it? Don't worry there's more Stephen King on the way... The moderator of the author's official site just posted on its message boards: "I have been given permission to announce that Steve's next book titled Full Dark, No Stars, is a collection of 4 previously unpublished novellas and is expected to be released in November (possibly 9th, but that is subject to change). We will announce more details as they become available." Although I'm a bit disappointed to learn the news isn't about a new novel, a "Four Past Midnight"-esque anthology is always welcome.

Richardson Dies After Ski Crash
Actress Natasha Richardson has died after suffering serious head injuries in a skiing accident. She was 45.
The Maid in Manhattan star, who was married to actor Liam Neeson, was taken to hospital in Montreal, Canada after the incident on the slopes of Mont Tremblant on Monday.
Schindler's List star Neeson rushed to her bedside at the Hopital du Sacre-Coeur de Montreal as doctors battled to save her. He flew her to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York on Tuesday, where he was joined by the actress' mother Vanessa Redgrave and close friends and family.
She was removed from life support on Wednesday morning and died hours later.
Confirming the sad news, the actress' publicist Alan Nierob tells WENN, "Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."
The daughter of late director/producer Tony Richardson and actress Redgrave, Richardson began her career in regional theatre before moving into television and film work.
Her first major movie was Ken Russell's 1986 drama Gothic, and she also notably starred in The Handmaid's Tail, Past Midnight, and 2001 comedy Blow Dry.
She also portrayed heiress and socialite-turned bank robber Patty Hearst in a biopic and played Lindsay Lohan's mum in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.
Richardson won a string of honours during her career, including a 1999 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her turn in Cabaret on Broadway.
She also scooped the Plays and Players Best Actress in 1990, and was twice honoured with Britain's Evening Standard Film Award - in 1990 and 2006.
Richardson wed filmmaker Robert Fox in 1990 but they split two years later. She married Neeson in 1994.
She is survived by her mother, her sister Joely Richardson, half-brother Carlo Nero, and her two sons with Neeson, Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and 12-year-old Daniel Jack.
