In deciding on our next Wtf celebrity to cover, we passed around several names but in the end we all decided that: There could be only One! Despite being basically blind, Christopher Lambert made a name for himself as the king of Sci-Fi action films. One could say he single-handedly kept Blockbuster Video in business as most of his output in the 90’s debuted on the bottom shelves of the video rental chain. But few performers have made their mark on the international stage like Christopher Lambert, alternating between North American schlock and more prestigious French fare. Despite most of us knowing Lambert mainly for two iconic roles, there is much more to know about this American-born French actor; it’s time we find out just Wtf Happened to Christopher Lambert.

Following the success of Jonathan Demme's "The Silence of the Lambs" in 1991, Hollywood released an eight-year-long tidal wave of serial killer thrillers, each one pulpier than the last. This was the era of "Seven," "Copycat," "Along Came a Spider," "Jennifer 8," "See No Evil," "Eye of the Beholder," "Sliver," "Knight Moves," and any number of others. Right at the end of the decade came Phillip Noyce's 1999 thriller "The Bone Collector," based on the airport novel by Jeffery Deaver. Deaver's original novel was the first of the long-running Lincoln Rhyme series, a series that saw its 16th installment published in 2023. Lincoln Rhyme, thanks to a spinal accident, could not move his body below his neck, and fought crime from his bed, deducting details, looking at pictures, and relying on his team.
In the film adaptation, Denzel Washington played Lincoln Rhyme and Angelina Jolie played his plucky crime fighting partner Amelia Donaghy.

In the 1980s, Hollywood didn’t quite know what to do with Rutger Hauer. The actor broke out in a pretty major way following his acclaimed turn in Paul Verhoeven’s Soldier of Orange, paving the way for his American debut in the Sylvester Stallone thriller Nighthawks, where he played the villain Wulfgar. His performance as Roy Batty in Blade Runner blew people away, and for a while, it looked like he might become the next big Hollywood heartthrob, especially when he signed on to star in the epic adventure film Ladyhawke opposite Michelle Pfeiffer for Richard Donner.
But major stardom didn’t happen? Why? Perhaps it was because the movies of Hauer’s that did best at the box office were the ones where he played the villain, such as The Hitcher. He was so unforgettable as a bad guy that when he played a hero, such as in...

Now in its 25th season, Big Brother has had to come up with some twists and turns to help shake up the game. There are consistently new elements introduced to the series and exciting new competitions, or variations of old ones. But a handful of competitions, including endurance, Head of Household, Veto, and Have Not, have continued to come back because the fans can't get enough of them.
The competitions make up the backbone of the Big Brother series. Players gain power in the House and can get immunity from elimination by winning these games. The fans love seeing the compeitions play out and love to see someone who dominates the games. Even many of the players grew up watching the show and are excited to partake in one of the most iconic competitions. It's always a highlight of the episode when a classic competition begins.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Tetris.Tetris follows the true story of the 1980s bidding war of the titular video game, but it doesn't fully explain what happened to the game's creator, Alexey Pajitnov, after the film's events. The Russian video game had a surprisingly eventful introduction into the world outside of the U.S.S.R., as the rights belonged to the state because Soviet Union citizens weren't allowed to profit off of their intellectual property. That led to British newspaper tycoons, Nintendo, and American opportunists all vying for licensing rights outside of the Soviet Union, but it also led to a fruitful relationship between Pajitnov and Dutch-American video game developer Henk Rogers.
The ending of Tetris sees Alexey finally leave the Soviet Union for San Francisco and reunite with Henk, who helped arrange his move to the U.S. It then cuts to a photo of the real-life Alexey...

CuriosityStream, the nonfiction streaming company headed by Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks, has acquired several true crime, history and culture titles from Paris-based distribution outfit Balanga.
CuriosityStream picked up the shows for its SVOD and pay TV services. The true crime titles include three seasons of Balanga’s “Crime Scene Solvers,” a forensic-style series that initially aired on Rmc Story in France and Zdf Info
in Germany; as well as two seasons of “The Case,” a cinematic series where police officers went on the record to reveal the cases that changed their lives. “The Case” premiered originally on Planète Plus, a Canal Plus channel.
The service also acquired two history series, notably “Face to Face,” which portrays two icons through the prism of their rivalry. “Face to Face” has already sold to over 100 territories in the world. CuriosityStream also picked up three seasons of “Butterfly Effect” for its linear channels in several international markets.

Creators and screenwriters from Europe discussed the importance of collaboration in filmmaking during a panel in the Variety Streaming Room.
Hosted by international features editor Leo Barraclough, the conversation, titled “Lost in Translation? Visual Story Development from Script to Screen,” included creators from the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival’s Black Room and writers from the Face to Face program. Prop maker and modeler Simon Weisse, production designer Jacqueline Abrahams, and writers Jana Burbach and Hanno Hackfort took part in the panel.
Collaborative endeavors have seen an increase in European filmmaking, said Hackfort, since teams have begun to see that different departments — writers, designers, directors — often have ideas that aren’t limited to just the part of the film or television project they’re working on.
“This concept of showrunner becomes more and more important in Germany,” he said. “Then you’re not just a writer, but you can also work together with the others.

When Enzo Palumbo won the “Knight Moves” Head of Household competition earlier in the week, he secured himself a place in the final three of “Big Brother 22.” The “Meow-Meow” later nominated Christmas Abbott and Nicole Franzel for eviction, but as we all know, this is the week where the Veto holder is actually the most powerful player in the game. Not only does this person automatically advance to the top three, but he or she also gets to cast the sole vote to evict. So who ended up winning the final Veto comp of Season 22: Enzo, Christmas, Nicole or Cody Calafiore?

Following the eviction of Memphis Garrett from “Big Brother 22,” the remaining four houseguests watched as their old All-Star buddy Kaysar Ridha introduced the next Head of Household competition, a classic chess-like game called “Knight Moves.” Outgoing Hoh Nicole Franzel was not eligible to compete in the challenge, which meant the winner would either be Cody Calafiore, Enzo Palumbo or Christmas Abbott. So who ended up claiming the Hoh key for Final 4 week and which two players did they nominate for eviction?

Hey, fellow "Big Brother" fans. Happy Friday and weekend. We are back to let you guys now who won the latest Hoh (Head Of Household) competition that took place last night, October 15, 2020. As we previously reported, Memphis got voted out of the house during last night's Live eviction show, but they didn't play the Hoh comp during the Live show. That means we had to wait until the Live feeds came back on late last night to get the results. During the Live show, they brought back previously evicted houseguest Kaysar to reveal what the next Hoh comp was going to be. It was the "Knight Moves" comp that he competed in during his original season 6.

The winner of this week’s Head of Household title is guaranteed a spot in the final three. We can report on the jaw-dropping results of this battle to be Hoh. This teamwork challenge, “Knight Moves,” was just about to begin as the #BB22 episode on Thursday was signing off. As the outgoing Hoh, Nicole Franzel was ineligible to compete.

Heading into Thursday’s live episode of “Big Brother 22,” Head of Household Nicole Franzel had just won the Veto and locked in her two nominees for eviction: Memphis Garrett and Christmas Abbott. That meant the other two players would be the only voters this week: Cody Calafiore and Enzo Palumbo. Even though Cody and Enzo had told Nicole they would abide by her wishes and vote out Memphis, they secretly wanted to send Christmas to the jury house. So did they end up going through with their plans and betraying Nicole?

Film-makers have tried sex, murder and intrigue, and yet that most intellectual of spectator sports remains remarkably difficult to depict on screen

Throw a rock at the sports genre and you'll hit a film about baseball or football, or hockey, or racing. Odds are, you won't strike a film about chess. Chess isn't generally considered a stadium filler (although it can be). It's perceived as a game for eccentric intellectuals and elderly historians. It doesn't have the glamour or sex appeal of more sedentary sports, such as pool, as demonstrated by Paul Newman in The Hustler. Chess won't even fit snugly in to other genre films, where the banality of cards, for example, naturally lends itself to a seedy, gambling gangster underworld (Rounders), the exotic highlife of a casino (Casino Royale), or even more piquant, a combo...

We expect limited collector’s edition DVDs to become expensive collectables over time. But what about paying nearly $100 for a Corey Feldman movie...?
The maturity of the DVD market has meant that, inevitably, over the years, plenty of releases have been deleted. Most of the time, that’s that. The disc disappears, nobody notices, we all move on.
Sometimes, that’s part of the plan. Numbered limited editions, scarce boxsets, time limited releases… it’s all part of the game in making a DVD release feel collectable, and thus more valuable. They taunt us with the prospect of us getting rich by selling the film on for a massive profit many years down the line.
However, there’s emerging an unlikely collection of rare and surprisingly valuable DVDs, films that you might never expect to double their retail value. See if you’ve got any of these on your shelf…...

At the height of the Berlin Film Festival, THR informs us that Lucas Foster is joining forces with Gfm Films to bring a casino heist film, The Job, to the big screen.
Foster — who’s produced titles that include Man on Fire, Law Abiding Citizen, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith — will produce the thriller, based on Brad Mirman‘s original script. Guy Collins, the market veteran behind Gfm Films, stated that, for them, “the timing is perfect [...] to discuss the film with distributors during the European Film Market in Berlin.” Mirman has also scripted some lesser known films, including Shadows in the Sun, The Piano Player and the upcoming Sleight of Hand, which he is also directing.
Plot details for the project are pretty scarce, but Collins and Mirman worked together on Highlander 3 and Knight Moves, which should create some hope when it comes to their connection. Although I can...

So, this afternoon, we decided to check in at DC's blog, the Source, and what would we find? Why a few Brightest Day solicits for November.
