Ladies and gentlemen, I implore you! Please bear witness to today’s Gunslingers trailer and revel in the action and unseriousness of this delightful preview for what looks like an off-the-wall Western starring Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham and Stephen Dorff.
Today’s Gunslingers trailer is the shot in the arm I needed. I’m a massive Nicolas Cage fan, especially when he’s most unhinged. Don’t get me wrong, I love his dramatic roles in films like Pig, Leaving Las Vegas, and Dream Scenario. However, allowing Cage to be at his Cageiest is a cure for what ails ya.
Brian Skiba directs Gunslingers from his own script. The story unfolds in Redemption, where reformed gunslinger Thomas Keller (Dorff) and a mad genius, Ben (Cage), are guided by a spiritual leader named Jericho toward vindication. While wrestling with his inner demons, Keller runs afoul of the Five Points Gang. The confrontation forces Keller’s hand,...

The big winner of Toy Fair 2025 on the horror front may very well be Trick or Treat Studios, who brought some big time surprises to the convention floor this morning.
Upcoming licensed toys from Trick or Treat Studios include Maniac Cop, Hellraiser, Leprechaun, Terrifier 2, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and Army of Darkness!
The most surprising reveal has to be the Maniac Cop action figure, which is headed our way in 2026. This marks the first officially licensed Maniac Cop figure we have ever seen.
Trick or Treat’s Hellraiser wave, meanwhile, will include Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, and Female Cenobite, with unpainted prototypes on display at Toy Fair this weekend.
And yes, we’re even getting a Warwick Davis Leprechaun figure from Trick or Treat Studios, along with a wave of toys based on George A. Romero’s zombie classic Day of the Dead.

Some of the best horror movies of the 1980s flew completely under the radar, and deserve a closer look from modern horror fans despite their obscurity. With so many brilliant horror movies made in the 1980s, it isn't a surprise that so many great entries in the genre have fallen by the wayside. That doesn't mean that they aren't worth watching by any means, as the decade was rife with hidden gems that deserve more recognition.
The 80s is best known for its many iconic slasher movie franchises that began or fully picked up steam in the decade. But for every Friday the 13th that picked up popular acclaim as the years went on, there were double the number of quietly amazing scary movies that went largely unheard of even to this day. Whether they're psychological thrillers, supernatural creature features, or good old-fashioned ghost stories, these forgotten films truly deserve to be household names.

Piccolo was a villain when he first appeared in Dragon Ball, but he has gone on to become Goku's ally and one of Earth's top defenders. He is a skilled martial artist, and like other Namekian's, he can fly and produce ki blasts. Piccolo possesses superhuman physical abilities and his ki blasts can destroy celestial objects as large as the moon. Given this power, Piccolo can easily defeat strong characters from other anime series.
Many of these anime characters possess incredible abilities, yet their overall power does not come close to matching Piccolo's. In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Shenron granted Piccolo's wish to unlock his potential, resulting in an orange transformation. Orange Piccolo is comparable to a Destroyer God in terms of power, which means he can vaporize most anime characters with a single ki-based energy blast.

Here at JoBlo Horror Originals we talk a lot about gateway horror films. Depending on the generation you belong to, that can be a few different things. Kids of the 70s will always have Jaws as an introduction to horror and that movie is still a great way to introduce newer generations to the genre after almost 50 years. Two of my favorites from the 80’s, and two films that both my sons have seen, are The Gate and The Monster Squad. Again, both great and both still hold up as not only fun horror flicks but great ways to ease in the younger crowd. As a kid born in 1985, I am much more a child of the 90s so even if you hadn’t read the title of the video you clicked, you could probably guess that I saw Jurassic Park in theaters, it scared and enthralled me and made me want more.

Hungarian film and television producer Andras Hamori, who produced films like “Crash” and “Sunshine” and shows such as “The Gate,” died Sept. 2. He was 71.
Some of Hamori’s other credits through the late ’90s and early 2000s include films like “The Sweet Hereafter,” “eXistenZ,” “Max,” “Owning Mahowny” and “Formula 51.” From 1991-1993 he served as producer for all 66 episodes of “Tropical Heat” and in 2014 he produced the History Channel miniseries “Houdini” starring Adrien Brody.
Starting as a film critic and short filmmaker in 1970s Budapest, Hamori was first encouraged to move to North America and chase his film-producing dreams by Hungarian-Canadian theater director John Hirsch. In 1981, armed with a print of one of his shorts, Hamori moved to Toronto, temporarily shacking up in Hirsch’s basement.

It’s almost hard to believe that Stranger Things began almost nine years ago. Well, not so much when you look at the cast, who have all aged significantly in that time. The fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” will debut in 2025, Netflix announced on Wednesday. To celebrate Nov. 6, 1983, a.k.a. “Stranger Things Day” — the day Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was abducted into the Upside Down — the streamer also released a video revealing the titles for the final eight episodes, which will conclude the supernatural story of Hawkins, Indiana.
The episode titles are “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of…,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.”
Some of these titles allude to earlier episodes: “The Vanishing of…” — revealed with the name fully obscured — invokes the series premiere “The Vanishing of Will Byers.” Fans online have already speculated that the new abductee could be Holly Wheeler, the younger sister of Mike (Finn Wolfhard) who was reportedly recast with “Evil Dead Rise” actor Nell Fisher, but Netflix has not officially confirmed.

Plenty of big-named actors got their start in horror, from Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun to Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th. A smaller number can claim a start in horror as a child, but that is just the case for Blades Stephen Dorff. Before he was the villainous vampire Deacon Frost, he was the demon-beset 12-year-old Glen in 1987s The Gate. Tibor Takcs PG-13 horror took cues from other lighter, scary classics like Gremlins and Critters, with the final product easing away from screenwriter Michael Nankins grittier first draft. That darker spirit remains, to a lesser extent, giving The Gate a grittier edge than other family horror movies, and making it a cult-classic demon flick, too.

Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.

Jerry Seinfeld walked back his comments about the “extreme left and PC crap” suppressing comedy, admitting in a new interview with fellow comedian Tom Papa, “It’s not true.”
Seinfeld made the remark on an episode of the New Yorker Radio Hour, arguing that the dearth of sitcoms like Cheers, All in the Family, and M.A.S.H. on TV was the result of overly sensitive PC culture run amok. “This is the result of the extreme left and PC crap and people worrying so much about offending other people,” Seinfeld said.

It’s a story we’ve all heard before. Parents leave their kids home alone for a few days and the unsupervised kids throw a party and wreck the place. That’s how it goes when 12-year-old Glen is left in the care of his 15-year-old sister Alexandra… But these kids also get into a whole new level trouble while their parents are away. They open a tunnel to Hell in their back yard, conjuring demons that play mind games with them and then become a physical threat. This is what happens in the 1987 film The Gate (watch it Here) – and if you haven’t seen this one, it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
The Gate started with a screenplay written by Michael Nankin, who had co-written and co-directed the 1980 comedy Midnight Madness. Upset that a project he had been working on fell apart, he decided to...

Do you remember the first scary movie you watched? To be fair, mine was Halloween, so I got an early taste of R-rated terror. However, for many, it was something like The Monster Squad, The Watcher in the Woods, or perhaps The Gate. And now, we have a fun ride with the good and spooky natured, Monster Summer. Featuring Mel Gibson, Lorraine Bracco, and Mason Thames. For Mason, who was terrific in The Black Phone (and will soon be seen in The Black Phone 2), the actor proves that he is one to watch. The actor brings heart to his performance and shines opposite Gibson.
Recently, I sat down with the two, and the legendary Mel Gibson (who we previously interviewed Here), was full of praise for his younger co-star. Both actors work especially well together, and frankly, it’s not surprising that Thames is getting a ton of work on genre projects.

Gremlins may have stopped at only 2 movies and a recent animated TV show, but a lot of its imitators went on to make a killing in the sequel market. Sure, we had one offs like Munchies from Roger Corman and Goobers from the mind of Charles Band which should have rightfully stayed one and done but others wanted in on that franchise action. The Gate would have 2 entries as would Hobgoblins. Troll would get a few sequels, kinda, if you want to go down the rabbit hole of strange Italian sequels in name only that are just called that to capitalize on the profits of other movies and Ghoulies would somehow, miraculously, get 4 films although if I’m being honest, I actually enjoy watching that series. Critters also had 4 (initially) but has a much stronger legacy in terms of enjoyment and interesting background including the fact that even though it came out after Gremlins,...

Stranger Things' Catherine Curtin, who has played Claudia Henderson, the mother of Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) since season 2, will not return in season 5 of the hit Netflix series. Curtin also appeared as Mrs. Henderson in seasons 3 and 4. She is among the characters who are still alive despite the many dangers posed by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and the Upside Down that will have to be dealt with in Stranger Things season 5's story.
On an episode of the Monday Morning Critic Podcast (via What's On Netflix), Curtin explained that she is not part of Stranger Things' final season because she was shooting the upcoming film Saturday Night, which tells the story of Saturday Night Live's 1975 premiere. Despite not returning to the Netflix series, she confirmed that she has spoken with some of her peers who are involved with season 5, who have teased that the show's highly-anticipated ending will be worth the wait.

Both Hiromu Arakawa and Kentaro Miura are legends in the manga industry. While Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist has captured the hearts of thousands of otakus all over the globe, Berserk is one of the best series in the seinen genre.
Ever since Kentaro Miura began his manga in 1989, many authors have been inspired by Berserk. Several series also hold a similarity to Guts’ adventure and Fullmetal Alchemist is one of them. Plenty of scenes and concepts in Fullmetal Alchemist are similar to those present in Miura’s work.

In a time where CGI and other digital technology reign as the kings of cinema special effects, Full Moon Features has released a film with old school SFX and a production timeline nearly half a century-long, spanning from conceptualization to release, with The Primevals.
And this timeline length is no exaggeration. The road to this film’s release began with plot elements used in the 1968 short film Raiders of the Stone Ring by writer-director David Allen (Puppet Master II and The Howling) that evolved into a full-length film script by 1975 and then produced by Charles Band in 1978. Alas, pre-production saw some funding issues surface that postponed the project until filming commenced again in 1994, before finally being completed and released in 2023.
After learning of the existence of Yeti when one is killed in Nepal, Dr. Claire Collier (Juliet Mills) and her student Matt Connor (Richard Joseph Paul) head to the Himalayas to investigate its origin.

The Rotten Tomatoes score has been revealed for Jackpot!, the new film starring John Cena and Awkwafina. The critics are pretty split on the movie, with the current score sitting with a rotten status, and the audience score is also not much better.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Jackpot! currently has a score of 41% on the Tomatometer. The audience score is a little better, though still rotten at 51%. It seems that most everyone agrees that the film is wildly over the top, and its brand of humor won't appeal to everybody. Some critics appreciate the film for its bonkers nature, finding it to be unique and entertaining, though the slight majority of them had a hard time getting on board.

The Acolyte finale will have unexpected twists and trauma, similar to creator Leslye Headland's typical style. The series uses storytelling structures like that found in Rashomon to explore the twins' tragic past on Brendok. The Acolyte finale will premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, July 16.
As The Acolyte enters its final episodes, a recently resurfaced interview with stars Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto reveals a foreboding tease for the finale. Set long before the events of the Star Wars prequel trilogy in the final days of the High Republic era, the Disney+ series is helmed by Russian Doll's Leslye Headland. In The Acolyte, the murder of a Jedi master sets off a chain of events that leads to bloodshed, horrific truths being uncovered, and a tragedy that will begin the Jedi Order's downfall.

The A Quiet Place franchise took a different approach to the horror subgenre with its focus on characters, following a family trying to survive the apocalypse. The two films were very successful that they spawned a prequel titled A Quiet Place: Day One, whose Rotten Tomatoes debut seems to be worthy of the franchise.
A Quiet Place: Day One's score on Rotten Tomatoes has just been revealed, debuting on the review aggregator website with 87% from 55 reviews. The score is highly encouraging, given that the original duology had a score higher than 90% from the critics and the audience. Of course, the new entry in the franchise's score might change as new reviews come in, but it's up to a great start, as the first reactions for Day One had already been positive.

We’ve talked a lot about what makes a black sheep a black sheep. It can be a number of things really. We look at horror series and see what the underappreciated or even outright hated ones are to lift them up and defend them. It can also be a relatively underseen or unknown entity in the career of an actor, director, or series of films to shine a light and get it on more radars. A black sheep can be seen as bad at the time of its release (or even now) and just needs someone to speak of the positives for the flick. The Gate II (get it Here) is, well, it’s all of that. It’s a mostly underseen and unknown movie in a short horror series that is not really loved by the people who have seen it. With the first movie in the series being a spooky kids classic,...

Following amapiano beats with your body is like watching a streetcorner shell game, or playing tennis with a rogue ball launcher — more surprising, sexy, and fun than standard 4/4 club bangers. South Africa’s signature groove for roughly a decade, the Soweto-bred slowed-down house music hybrid swiftly went pan-African because Afrobeat-niks, in Nigeria and elsewhere, know rhythm-magic when they hear it. With the long-awaited debut by 22-year old Johannesburg native Tyla Laura Seethal, the music is poised to globalize like never before. Bring it on.

One of the scariest movie characters of all time is no doubt Zelda from Pet Sematary, the deathly ill sister of Rachel Creed who was actually played by male actor Andrew Hubatsek in the ’89 big screen adaptation. Zelda, who suffers from spinal meningitis, makes a brief but unforgettable appearance in the film, and she continues inducing nightmares to this day.
Our friend Gabe Lapeer over at Homemade Horror has captured that original version of Zelda in a brand new hand-sculpted figure, and he’s launching pre-sales in one week.
Pre-sales will run from March 13-15 on the Zelda figure, which recreates the most terrifying moment from Mary Lambert’s movie. Gabe even included Church in the sculpture.

Lucas and Max's relationship on Stranger Things goes through multiple ups and downs, from being friends to a couple to exes, but there is hope for a reconciliation in season 5. Their first meeting and first kiss happen in season 2, where they bond over their experiences with the Upside Down and share a heartfelt moment at the junkyard. In season 3, Lucas and Max have an on-and-off relationship, with Max eventually breaking up with Lucas. However, they reconcile after facing the Mind Flayer together, only to face more challenges in season 4, including Max being possessed by Vecna and ending up in a comatose state.
Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) are one of the best couples on Stranger Things, and it all started with a high score on Dig Dug. Horror movies sometimes feature children as unlikely heroes who defeat monsters and villains. This premise can be fun, but it can also undermine the scariness of the villains. Some notable examples include The Gate, The Babysitter, and Cobweb.
While many horror villains have disappointing deaths, it is still pretty egregious that some monsters are defeated by literal children. Child characters occupy a strange space in the horror genre. Most of the time, even the darkest genre offerings won’t kill off children. Mainstream horror movies typically avoid killing multiple child characters as this subject is too much for even the most intensely bleak movies, but this results in a lot of horror movies simply ignoring kids' existence. Children are rarely found in slasher movies, and while they show up a lot in supernatural horror movies, this is usually so that they can be haunted, possessed, or both.

The 12 Days of Creepmas continues on Bloody Disgusting, with the tenth day getting into the anti-festive spirit for all the holiday grinches out there. This is for those that approach December with a “bah humbug” attitude and prefer any iconography or holiday theming to be kept to a minimum when it comes to horror. Most of these ten horror titles are technically set on or around Christmas, but can’t muster up enough cheer to really embrace the holiday spirit. Many of which don’t even bother with Christmas at all, beyond a quick scene or mention.

The early reviews for Five Nights at Freddy's suggest that most critics are not thrilled with the long-in-development video game movie.
Based on Scott Cawthon's hit video game series, Five Nights at Freddy's arrives this weekend after spending years in development. Early reviews from Rotten Tomatoes-approved critics have resulted in a debut score of 38% based on 28 reviews. With more reviews that come in, the score could potentially rise, though it will have a long way to go to shed its current "rotten" status, which is given to any film that scores less than 60%. It's also worth noting that the audience score can sometimes greatly differ from the Tomatometer, and it remains to be seen how well Five Nights at Freddy's will land with filmgoers this weekend.

Back in 1986, Patrick Stewart famously balked at playing the role of Jean-Luc Picard on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." The role was contracted for six seasons, and the actor had never made that enormous of a commitment before. Many of Stewart's professional colleagues encouraged him to sign the contract, feeling that it was to be lucrative, and that "Star Trek: The Next Generation" would be swiftly canceled and he could walk away and work on other projects. Only his friend Ian McKellan discouraged Stewart from moving to TV, feeling that they both had more important things to be done on stage.
But Stewart signed the contract, went to Los Angeles, and crashed with a friend for a few weeks at a posh mansion in Bel Air. Strewart's rich friends provided him with good food, access to a swimming pool, and fascinating conversation. In exchange, Stewart only needed to bring...

PG-13 horror movies can be just as scary and thrilling as R-rated films, providing a great Halloween movie night for younger audiences. These movies focus on theme, tone, and creating tension rather than explicit violence and gore. From supernatural curses to haunted houses, these PG-13 horror movies deliver fantastic frights and jump scares without crossing the line for younger viewers.
Despite its grisly reputation, there are a string of horror movies acceptable for a PG-13 audience. PG-13 horror movies counter the trend of acquiring an R rating for perceived clout in this genre, providing scary and thrilling scenes that work for younger audiences. While not every PG-13 horror film works, the ones that find this balance are often great picks for a Halloween movie night.

The Return to Horror High episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
The 1980s, especially the mid-1980s, were basically the heyday of slasher films, many of them were being released each year in theaters and direct-to-video, some of them making huge box office numbers like the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, the Friday the 13th movies, and the Halloween movies. Non-franchise films were not as big both financially and critically but they didn’t do too badly either. Then came Return to Horror High in 1987 (watch it Here). Some would say that the film was ahead of its time, being a very meta horror comedy about slasher films, having endings within endings, and twisting the sub-genre on its head. Throughout four seasons, Stranger Things has seen the opening of various gates to the Upside Down, and here’s every one of them, when and where they were open, and who was responsible for their appearance. Since season 1, Stranger Things has been packed with mysteries, most of them related to the Upside Down and the different creatures living in it. Stranger Things season 4 made some big reveals about the other dimension, such as Henry Creel a.k.a. VFX artists have praised the 1987 horror film The Gate for using a similar trick seen in The Lord of the Rings movies 14 years before the fantasy trilogy was created. The Gate follows two young boys who accidentally release a malevolent supernatural entity from a massive hole in their backyard. The film was praised at the time of its release, though it hasn't garnered the same popularity as cult classics of its time.
Now, Corridor Crew has released a video where VFX artists react to The Gate and its visuals, comparing one key element to The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
While analyzing The Gate starting at 0:45, VFX artists Niko, Wren, and Sam discuss the use of forced perspective in the film to make hordes of tiny, demonic creatures look small. This same type of filmmaking technique was used in The Lord of the Rings to make Hobbit characters appear shorter.

After two years of being constantly on the road, it's only now that singer-songwriter Yendry has been able to come up for air. Being on the go has meant not always having the time to reflect back on how far she's come. But these days, the 29-year-old is working on remaining present and is grateful for all she's accomplished thus far - making a name for herself as an artist with hit singles in a number of genres and collaborating with the likes of Damian Marley and J Balvin.
"I was recently creating a Pdf of everything I did in the past two years, and I realized it was a lot," Yendry tells Popsugar. "When you're in it and you're just working, sometimes it's hard to just stop, breathe in, let in, and realize what you have achieved. I'm definitely feeling good - a little bit tired -but it's a good tired.
