The 97th Academy Awards kicked off with excitement on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and host Conan O’Brien wasted no time setting the tone for the evening.
As he took the stage for his highly anticipated opening monologue, he emphasized the elegance of the “prestigious night,” making it clear that proper attire was a must. But as he scanned the audience, his eyes landed on Adam Sandler, and the moment quickly turned into an unexpected showdown.

Harrison Ford stars as Jacob Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel 1923, which follows the Dutton family as they face the struggles of the early 20th century. For the legendary actor, the series was also a welcome return to the Western genre.
At the 1923 Season 2 premiere event, Ford spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about why he feels drawn to Westerns. "I love the viscerality of it, I love the physical nature of the storytelling, I love being in natural circumstances," the actor divulged. "A kind of old-fashioned movie-making mostly, no CGI or very little CGI - a little something to sweeten the location. But it’s really essential, old-time storytelling and I love working with this kind of material."

Why Did Brad Pitt Turn Down A Key Role In Almost Famous? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
What if Brad Pitt had played Russell Hammond in Almost Famous? It sounds like a missed opportunity! Well, he almost did until creative differences happened. In an interview (via Fox News), director Cameron Crowe spilled tea about the very moment, which could’ve changed the film entirely.
At the start, the Almost Famous cast lineup looked extremely different. Per Crowe, there were talks of Meryl Streep as the mom, Elaine Miller, and Natalie Portman as the iconic Penny Lane, the free-spirited “band-aid,” the role that ultimately went to Kate Hudson. However, it was Pitt who was initially tapped for the role of Russell Hammond, the lead guitarist of the fictional band Stillwater.

Avengers Matching Tattoos, Bonding Moment (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Five Avengers got matching tattoos to celebrate Avengers: Infinity War, and yes, it was Scarlett Johansson’s idea. Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner all inked the Avengers logo. The tattoo artist Josh Lord ended up with one, too.
Robert Downey Jr. spilled the tea to EW. “Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo,” he alluded, adding that the lone holdout was Mark Ruffalo. “It was Scarlett Johansson’s idea, and she and Chris Evans did it in New York. Then, their amazing New York guy, Josh Lord, who was amazing, flew out to LA, did me, did Jeremy Renner, and then we just bullied Chris Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it.” It’s a classic Avengers movie.
But it didn’t stop. Stuff got hilariously chaotic when each Avenger got to “contribute” to the tattoo.

James Mangold has established himself as a terrific filmmaker with modern classics like the Best Picture nominee Ford v. Ferrari, the excellent comic book film Logan, and the acclaimed remake of 3:10 to Yuma. However, the most acclaimed project of Mangold’s career thus far was the biopic Walk the Line, which starred Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash. In addition to winning Reese Witherspoon the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter, Walk the Line helped revitalize Hollywood’s interest in making biographical films about the lives of acclaimed musicians. Mangold has now returned to the genre with A Complete Unknown, which stars Timothée Chalamet as a young Bob Dylan during his journey from Minnesota to New York City in the 1960s. Although Chalamet’s performance is certainly the reason to see the film, A Complete Unknown shows a different side to Johnny Cash thanks to...

Western legends John Wayne and Roy Rogers only made one movie together with a 1940 Civil War classic called Dark Command. Wayne is one of the most famous Western stars of the 20th century and is largely responsible for shaping the genre in American film industry and beyond. Wayne starred in several groundbreaking Western movies including John Ford's breakthrough hits Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956).
While Wayne's legacy speaks for itself, Roy Rogers was also a pivotal figure in the Western genre as well. Often dubbed the "King of the Cowboys", Rogers became an icon of Western mysticism and entertainment as an actor, singer, television host, and rodeo performer. Although Wayne and Rogers represent different aspects of the Western genre, they were bound to both appear in the same Western film at some point. This ended up being Dark Command, which is more of a classic war romance drama but still has Western elements,...

The enigmatic, elusive genius of The Bard, Bob Dylan, has long fascinated the world, not at least filmmakers, D.A. Pennebaker, Martin Scorsese, Todd Haynes, John Hillcoat, and even the Coen Brothers. No one’s really dared to do a straight biopic version of the Dylan legend because it’s too mythological, too monumental—too many evolutions, too many twists and turns—but filmmaker James Mangold (“Ford Vs.

As a director, James Mangold is somewhat of a chameleon. When looking at his filmography, it’s hard to nail down what exactly makes a “Mangold movie.” This isn’t a knock on the director, but rather, proof that he’s very good at matching the style of whatever project he’s working on. Even when he’s operating in a genre we’ve seen countless times, Mangold knows how to make a strong version of that genre that makes the occasional clichés work for the story. Ford v. Ferrari wasn’t necessarily groundbreaking as a racing film, but it utilized the strengths of its predecessors. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny found Mangold having to step into Steven Spielberg’s shoes, which he did admirably. Films like 3:10 to Yuma and Logan played with the language of Westerns to evoke stories that couldn’t help remind us of the best of the genre.

Harrison Ford has most recently been seen as a big, red, very angry Hulk of the MCU in trailers for Captain America: Brave New World. With filming and early press all done on that movie, and the film not due out until February, Ford has returned to a very different role, as new set images from Yellowstone prequel series 1923 have revealed the actor back in the role of Jacob Dutton in Taylor Sheridans series.
There is nothing about Harrison Ford that suggests he doesnt have versatility to spare. Over his career he has played everything from action heroes to violent husbands, innocent fugitives to presidents, and now he is going from the CGI-heavy world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the Western setting of 1923. As Yellowstone continues to debut new episodes, the second and final season of the Ford and Helen Mirren-led prequel set in, you guessed it, 1923, is currently filming in Montana.

John Ford's success at the Oscars speaks to the director's reputation as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Over the course of his long career in the industry, Ford worked with many of the most prominent actors in Hollywood from the 1920s to 1960s, pumping out a long list of memorable hits at the box office. Many were born from his collaborations with John Wayne, but it's important to note that his own directorial style, not necessarily Wayne or any other actor, that made Ford the Hollywood legend he is today.
Ford's work represents a very distinctive version of America, and his films often centered on specific themes and genres. Being no stranger to franchises himself, Harrison Ford doesn't agree with actors who avoid Marvel roles for the sake of avoiding them. Ford rose to stardom thanks to his role in Star Wars, and lest you forget, he's the headliner of the Indiana Jones franchise. Through it all, he still appeared in non-franchise movies, and he doesn't see any reason why actors can't do both.
In an interview with GQ, Ford was asked about actors who turn down roles in the MCU, something Ford is now part of after taking over the role of Thaddeus Ross from William Hurt. Ford said actors need to understand things are changing, and there's no sense moping about how things used to be.

Lionsgate yanked the trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s ambitious sci-fi Megalopolis from circulation this week after it was revealed that included quotations from several prominent movie critics that turned out to be fabricated.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer, released online on Wednesday, began with skin-peeling critiques of The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Fabricated Quotes aAnd Apologies
True genius is often misunderstood,” says a narrator at the beginning of the trailer, before informing us that Coppola ‘was ahead of his time’ right from the start.
The trailer then weaves in footage of supposedly panning reviews written by such famous (and fictitious) critics as Pauline Kael, Andrew Sarris, and Roger Ebert. Kael is quoted as saying The Godfather, Coppola’s best picture-winning crime drama, was ‘diminished by its artsiness’.
But it didn’t take social media long to observe that none of these quotes appeared in any of the actual reviews.

Incoming is full of shit — well, one scene is, anyway. The high school comedy, which starts streaming on Netflix on Friday, concerns some uncool male buddies starting their freshman year and trying to navigate the first blowout party of their young lives. In one sequence, a couple of the friends, through some crazy circumstances, end up driving their school’s most gorgeous girl home. She’s really drunk, though, and, well, let’s just say an impromptu trip to Taco Bell turns out not to be a good idea at all. The result is one of the most revolting gross-out scenes in modern comedy. It’s a moment that the writer-director brothers Dave and John Chernin have had in their back pocket, waiting for the right opportunity.
“Man, that was an idea that we’ve had for a long time,” Dave, 39, says over Zoom, laughing. “We didn’t quite know...

The esteemed filmmaker behind the Johnny Cash bio-musical “Walk the Line” and superhero drama “Logan,” James Mangold has done it all. He’s torn up the race track with “Ford v Ferrari,” been the only director other than Steven Spielberg to take the helm of an “Indiana Jones” film with last year’s “Dial of Destiny,” and later this year, he’ll debut his Bob Dylan drama starring Timotheé Chalamet, “A Complete Unknown.” Before he began his career as a filmmaker, he learned from legends like Alexander Mackendrick (“The Sweet Smell of Success”) and Milos Forman (“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”).
In a recent response post on X, Mangold explained his creative process and how it was passed down from these “masters,” as well as gathered from watching the work of others.
“I have learned this way of working from watching masters I admire. Some masters have been my teachers in person.

Over the years, Mark Hamill has created quite a diverse acting portfolio for himself. Outside of his work in the Star Wars franchise, he has explored so many different genres and worked with some of the most talented actors Hollywood has to offer from all its corners. This has helped him understand the difference between a good and a bad director.

With all his knowledge in mind, it is quite surprising to know that he does not think that his co-star, Harrison Ford, would be a good director. Megalopolis, Francis Ford Coppola's passion project, has a mixed reception but benefits from an R-rating, following the success of his previous R-rated films. The R-rating allows Coppola to maintain full creative control and explore the film's unique, original world, potentially attracting viewers who appreciate its darkness and oddities. Megalopolis' R-rating may limit its box office potential by excluding younger audiences, but it could also pique the interest of adult viewers.
Francis Ford Coppola's passion project, Megalopolis, is set to be released this year, and though the movie's reactions are mixed, one trend of the film makes it undoubtedly better. Since the 1960s and '70s, Francis Ford Coppola's movies have been a staple of Hollywood, including iconic films like The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now. Because of this, each time he debuts a new project, it is highly anticipated. Notably, he hasn't released a movie since 2013's Twixt. However,...

Some fans got to see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson meeting Harrison Ford’s President Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America 4 at San Diego Comic-Con. The inflated budget comes after the extensive reshoots that were ordered after the film received terrible scores during test screening.

The late actor Christopher Lee had two major franchise films in the year 2002. While he reprised his villain role of Saruman in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, he was also cast in another villain role in George Lucas’s Star Wars prequel trilogy. Lee played the role of Count Dooku, a former Jedi Master who turned to the Dark Side. However, not everyone was sold on the idea of casting the legendary actor.

Studio logos at the start of the film can often indicate what fans can expect from the movie. From DreamWorks’ moonchild to various variations of the WB logo, there are several examples of filmmakers manipulating the logos to fit the tone of their films. One such variation of a logo was in Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, often considered one of the greatest films of all time.
Much like the film itself, the opening logo of Paramount dissolving into a mountain is iconic. But it seems that incorporating this simple transition was far from simple for the crew.

Turner Classic Movies’ (TCM) award-winning podcast The Plot Thickens will premiere season five, Decoding John Ford, on June 6, co-produced by Novel. Host Ben Mankiewicz strips back the mythology to reveal Ford's brilliance – alongside the often ugly, uncomfortable truths about his life and movies, asking whether we can ever truly separate art from the artist. Maybe part of him always was, as the job of a film historian is often to find and showcase work that’s been lost. Taking it a step further, introducing others to any new film for the first time can make one feel like Indiana Jones discovering the Ark of the Covenant and Mankiewicz emulates that experience with “The Plot Thickens.” In Season 5, Mankiewicz examines the life and works of filmmaker John Ford, using audio conversations with Katherine Hepburn, Woody Strode, John Wayne, and others to illuminate our understanding of the masterful, yet mercurial director. But there’s an added adventure within Mankiewicz’ journey towards understanding Ford that sees the critic and personality cross oceans, brave harsh weather, and come face-to-face with the horrors of the past.

Are you ready for the return of the king? It's been 13 years since Francis Ford Coppola helmed a feature film — that would be 2011's weird horror flick "Twixt" — and now he's back in the director's chair to realize his dream project. In the 1980s, Coppola started writing "Megalopolis," an epic, sprawling drama that could very well be his biggest movie ever. He would tinker with the work over the years and finally start shooting second unit footage in 2001.
And then disaster struck, literally. The film's script dealt with the aftermath of a disaster that befalls New York City, and just as Coppola was gearing up to get "Megalopolis" off the ground, the 9/11 attacks changed everything. Realizing that no one at the time would be in the mood to watch a post-disaster movie set in New York, Coppola shelved the project — but he never forgot about it.

Everyone knows that Taylor Sheridan is truly one of the greatest legendary masterminds in the entertainment industry, having created not only the epic Yellowstone show but also a series of spin-offs that serve and will serve as its prequels and sequels. But did you know that one of his spin-off series even beat the blockbuster Game of Thrones saga in one aspect?
Taylor Sheridan in Yellowstone.
As it turns out, this is only true, especially when talking about his most recent spin-off show 1923, which will soon be spawning a second season that was delayed due to the strikes. And as hard as it may be to believe, Sheridan is pretty confident that this particular series of his has managed to surpass even GoT when it comes to the budget its first season has been created on.

On Monday April 22, 20th Century Studios’ all-new action-adventure spectacle, Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, made a trip to Venice Beach to get some sun, catch some waves and promote the film to onlookers lucky enough to be there. The apes on horseback was a clever idea and looked very reminiscent of the original 1968 film Planet Of The Apes.
The film opens in movie theaters globally on May 10, 2024, and will be available in IMAX®, Dolby Cinema®, 4Dx, and premium screens everywhere. Be among the first to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on the big screen at the early access screening on May 8th.

Since its release in 2001, the film has become quite popular among film buffs, and it has gained a bit of a cult following. The plot takes the viewers on a ride right off the bat. However, there was one scene, so gruesome, that even the director could not add to the director’s cut.
