Visionaries: Chevaliers de la lueur magique (1987)

Trivia

Visionaries: Chevaliers de la lueur magique

Edit
In the comic book, Galadria and Virulina eventually received shields similar to the power-staffs, with the abilities of healing (with the incantation "By warmth of heart, your pain I feel. Grant me the power your wounds to heal!") and disease (with the incantation "Wind of sickness, illness most vile, strike down my enemy; with disease revile!"), respectively. In the toy line, it was revealed that the Lancer Cycle's invulnerability through the energy-created hands forming from it, the Capture Chariot's to shoot fireballs, the Dagger Dart's to emit an energy-based monster to attack, and the Dagger Assault's having a Magical Dungeon to remove a totem also used spells by their respective drivers Ectar, Feryl, Mortredd, and Reekon. They were in this order:
  • "Shield this craft from one and all. Reflect, deflect, depose and fall!"
  • "Draw upon the breath of stars, and scorch the skies with fiery scars!"
  • "Wings of steel shall ride the breeze. Invade the air, the land, the seas!"
  • "Flay the flesh, lay bare the bone. Upon this field, let grief be sown!"
A second round of characters was intended to be released for the toy line which inspired the show, though never came to fruition when the line failed due to the expense and time needed to make their fragile breastplate and shield holograms. It would have included the Spectral Knights Cybron (master of the Sky Bucket vehicle), Lazorslash, Slywire, Malitor, Ramazon, Hydron, Craggor, and Ramak with the Air Blade and Joust vehicles; and Darkling Lords Osteon (master of the Grappler vehicle) Kabor, Braxe, Cyclor, Lizar, Pyrok, Croil, Aquarrior (whose being listed as a Darkling Lord may have been an error since, though he had gold armor, he had a Spectral Knight unicorn rather than a dragon chest-plate), and Draculan with the Battle Axxer and Crossbow vehicles. Figures for Galadria and Virulina were not created. Nor was one for Merklynn, but a holographic image of him was meant to appear in the trap-laden Iron Mountain set also intended to be sold. The Sun Imps also would have received holographic likenesses on wheels.
The show was produced to promote a Hasbro toy line of twelve figures and four vehicles. The figures used the same o-ring construction as Hasbro's GI Joe line, but in a larger scale. However, the figures torsos were not held together by a screw, and were instead glued together. This now presents a problem to collectors on how to replaced the o-ring, after it had dry rotted. After one wave, the toy line was canceled due to poor toy sales. Resulting in the show not being renewed for a second season.
Leoric, whose totem is a lion, wields a whip, a common tool of a lion-tamer. The first few letters in his name, Leo, are also Latin for "lion".
A second wave of figures and vehicles were planned and produced, but never released. These new figures would have been equipped with shields, instead of staffs. Their totems would also be based more on mythical creatures, rather than natural animals.
