Plot: A bounty hunter named Lilith (Cate Blanchett) is hired to retrieve the daughter (Ariana Greenblatt) of a tycoon who’s hiding out on a dangerous world, Pandora, with an elite former soldier, Roland (Kevin Hart) and a deranged muscleman, Krieg (Florian Munteanu).
Review: Borderlands has been one of the most infamous would-be summer blockbusters in a while. Initially filmed in 2021, when it was shot before Cate Blanchett’s Oscar-nominated role in Tar, the film ended up going in for some significant reshoots with Deadpool director Tim Miller filling in for original helmer Eli Roth, who went off to shoot the well-received Thanksgiving. Given that Roth retains sole directorial credit and has been front-and-center in the movie’s publicity campaign, it’s hard to say definitely what was or wasn’t part of his original concept of the movie. Still, I imagine this seam-laden misfire wasn’t it.

Comparing box office runs over the past decades is a tricky, because the movie business has undergone so many shifts. Around 40 years ago, a typical theatrical run could be 6 to 12 months, as films typically debuted in large urban centers before eventually being distributed to smaller towns and rural areas. It seems impossible now, but in the time before the widespread adoption of home video and pay cable, it could be years between a film's theatrical run and a home viewing experience. "Star Wars" (1977) was first released on video (VHS and Betamax) in the United States in May 1982, five years after its May 1977 premiere, and it would appear on pay cable nine months later before finally airing on American broadcast TV on February 26, 1984.
These new technologies drastically altered the marketplace, making "I'll wait for it on video" a perfectly reasonable decision. The digital revolution of the 2000s further accelerated this trend.

Alan Johnson, a three-time Emmy Award winning choreographer whose work spanned Broadway and Hollywood – and included four scenes from Mel Brooks’ comedies that became instant, irreverent classics – died July 7 of Parkinson’s disease at his home in Los Angeles. He was 81.
His death was confirmed to news outlets by his nephew Todd Johnson.
Johnson began his career as an understudy dancer for Broadway’s original 1957 West Side Story production and went on to include notable work for, among others, Chita Rivera, Tommy Tune, Bernadette Peters and Shirley MacLaine (including Emmy-winning choreography for the 1980 TV special Shirley MacLaine…Every Little Movement).
But the dance routines that are almost certainly his most widely viewed were performed far from any Broadway stage. As Mel Brooks’ go-to choreographer, Johnson collaborated with the director on unforgettable routines that became high points of the movies that contained them: The wildly, intentionally tasteless “Springtime For Hitler” (1967’s...

Fans of 80's genre fare will certainly be familiar with the post-apocalyptic oddity, Solarbabies. But for the uninitiated there's a really good chance the Mel Brooks produced science fiction family film that blends the world of Mad Max, the sentimentality of E.T. and the sport of rollerblading together completely passed by unnoticed.
Either way, this is a red letter day for all. In a recent episode of the "bad movie podcast" How Did this Get Made, the show dug deep into the film's many strange choices. Now, the gang behind the podcast have even pulled in Mel Brooks to talk more in depth about the project.
You can hear that conversation below.

From Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein to Spaceballs and The Producers, legendary filmmaker Mel Brooks has been responsible for some of the most beloved movies ever made. And unsurprisingly, at various points in his career, he has discussed the making of almost all his films. Except for one—the lone dud in his canon—a film so […]

Previously, On Reven8e.
This week, Emily loses her religion, Nolan gets laid, and Patrick meets the family.
Here are five highlights:
Wham Bam, Thank You Man
Nolan is making the most of his post-prison life, and we join in as he has a tender moment with a hot piece (and I tried, but I couldn’t find any info about who played this part):
Nolan: “Tell my driver where, and he’ll be happy to provide you with your drive of shame … or fame.”
Hot Piece: ” ….”
Nolan: “Bye …”
Hot Piece: ” …”
Nolan: “… You.”
A bemused Emily interrupts the heartbreaking goodbye, and we have this classic Nolan/Ems convo:
Emily: “Not even learning names now?”
Nolan: “Less mess. Especially after my P.T.S.D. Padma, Tyler, Sexual Damage.”
Emily: “Just be careful who you let come and go.”
Oh, Emily, don’t be crude.
Actually, she’s there for...

This week's gonzo teen nightmare Spring Breakers is trumpeting the fact that two of its leads - Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez - traditionally play "good girls". But the whole "teen idol gone bad" strategy is a longstanding Hollywood tradition aimed to help transition pigeonholed teen stars into "serious" actors.
Here are a few fellas who tried the tactic, to varying degrees of success.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas in Speedway Junky
The squeaky-clean kid from Home Improvement took a step toward tarnishing his image by playing an evil, bisexual hooker in this gritty drama, giving a whole new meaning to "Tool Time"!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Mysterious Skin
Jgl also went the hustler route for his breakout from small-screen teen stardom - only the 3rd Rock star went "the full gay" in this unsettling and excellent indie drama.
Lukas Haas in Johns
Yet another teen heartthrob caught a case of gay hustleritis...

See that pretty boy up there? Does he remind you of anyone? Better yet, do you even know who he is? I do, because...well, he's a pretty boy and I make it my business to keep up with the pretty boys. And men. And women. My life is very full, but never too full for beauty -- we're supposed to stop and smell the roses but if it's the middle of winter and there are no roses, we must amuse ourselves with pretty pictures.
Anyway, I'm sure there was a point to all this. Oh yes, famously related people we don't know are related. While doing my very important Pajiba research, I often stumble upon little tidbits that surprise me. Sometimes it's porn, sometimes not; some things can be shared and others... For instance, when I searched for an image on that actor in the header pic, there were plenty of naked posterior shots.

"Heroes" star Adrian Pasdar has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after he was arrested by police in January. The 44-year-old actor, who is married to Dixie Chicks' singer Natalie Maines, was pulled over by cops in the early hours of January 27 after he was allegedly clocked driving over 90 miles-an-hour (144.8 kilometres-an-hour) on a freeway in Los Angeles.
He was arrested after allegedly refusing a breathalyzer test, and held on $15,000 bail. And now Pasdar has been officially charged, according to TMZ.com. He faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. The star is due back in court on Wednesday, February 24.
Professionally, Adrian Pasdar made his big screen debut when he was 19 in movie "Top Gun". He continued to appear in several movies including "Solarbabies", "Near Dark" and "Secondhand Lions".
