Jimmy Kimmel: Here’s What Fueled His Reluctant Transformation into the Nation’s Moral Conscience
Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Kimmel isn’t just a TV host. As the last few weeks made evident, he’s a broadcaster.

A true broadcaster is a master of communication, someone who reaches a wide audience and can be trusted for the information they need. And unlike other late-night TV stars, Kimmel didn’t rise through the ranks of acting or stand-up comedy; he honed his skills as a radio personality. A much more intimate medium, radio was the place where personalities formed direct bonds with listeners long before social media.

The power of the “fifth estate” has waned in recent years — but Kimmel clearly never forgot the importance of the public airwaves. He’s fulfilling the classic role of broadcaster as a guide in a time of crisis. When ABC launched “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in 2003, “nation’s moral conscience” presumably wasn’t part of the content strategy. But after nearly 15 years, he...

Jimmy Kimmel Reacts to Las Vegas Shooting By Calling Out 56 Senators Who Voted Against Gun Control — Watch
Jimmy Kimmel in Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2003)
“It feels like someone has opened a window into hell,” Jimmy Kimmel said at the start of Monday night’s telecast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The host has become one of the most essential voices in late night over the last month thanks to his crusade against Trump’s health care plan, and last night he delivered another powerful monologue in reaction to the Las Vegas shooting.

The tragedy occurred Sunday evening when a shooter opened fire on the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival. 59 people were killed and over 500 people were injured, making it the largest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Kimmel is a Las Vegas native and fought back tears as his monologue turned into a powerful critique of gun control laws and the senators who refuse to support greater restrictions.

‘Game of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington: Don’t Expect Jon Snow to Be in Season 8
Game of Thrones (2011)
Last year, Kit Harington felt pretty safe from being killed off “Game of Thrones” again since his character, Jon Snow, had just been resurrected. For a show that is known for killing off its heroes, even a one-year reprieve from worry is merciful.

Season 7 starts with a clean slate though, and that means the Stark bastard is once again at risk.

“I felt quite safe in Season 6, a little less safe this season,” Harington said in an interview with IndieWire. “We need to know that: We need to know Jon Snow is in genuine peril otherwise the whole point of this TV show is lost. We know everyone’s in peril. So don’t expect him to be in Season 8; he might not be.”

Related‘Game of Thrones’ Episode Descriptions Hint at Daenerys Taking Center Stage as She Vies for the Iron Throne

So below, please enjoy a rundown of where we left all of our favorite backstabbers, witches, soldiers and queens — the ones who survived Season 6, that is. Where they’ll go in Season 7 is bound to keep us guessing all summer long.

Tyrion Lannister

After quite the story of survival, one of the few surviving Lannisters has picked what could be a winning team — Daenerys Targaryen has an impressive fighting force on her side, and he’s now serving as her Hand. Tyrion has always...

Tobey Maguire’s ‘Spider-Man’ Screen Test Featured A Much Different Hero
With the release of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the debate has begun about which actor has been best at portraying the titular hero on the big screen. There have been three, including newest actor Tom Holland, to put on the red and blue suit dating back to 2002. First on the list, and many fans’ favorite, is Tobey Maguire. His “Spider-Man” films, even the ill-fated third one, burst at the seams with bright colors, comic-booky dialogue, and tons of humor.

Whenever Pixar Animation has a strong desire for an actor to lend their voice to a certain character, they like to take dialogue from one of their performances and create animation to illustrate what the character would be like with their voice. This was especially true when Pixar was looking to make Toy Story their […]

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Dirty Dancing: Limited Keepsake Edition’
Chicago – How does one review a lavish “Keepsake Edition” of a beloved hit? Does it matter what the critic thinks of the movie itself? It’s not like anyone out there will be buying a gift set such as this having not even seen the film, so the opinion of a potential buyer is pretty much set in stone. With that in mind, if you love “Dirty Dancing” as so many do, it’s hard to think of anything missing from Lionsgate’s new “Limited Keepsake Edition”.

Blu-Ray Rating: 4.0/5.0

I’m old enough to remember when the cult of “Dirty Dancing” started and to still have a cassette tape of the unbelievably successful soundtrack sitting in a box in the attic. “Dirty Dancing” wasn’t just a hit movie, it was a cultural phenomenon for those of who were the right age. Personally, I was surprised to note that the...
