Twenty German films will world premiere in the New German Cinema and Spotlight sections of the 42nd Munich International Film Festival, which runs from June 27-July 6.

The new German Cinema competition section will include 16 world premieres, with another four in the Spotlight section.

The films range from offbeat comedies such as Ganzer halber Bruder and Zweigstelle, to dramas such as Sechswochenamt, thriller such as Brick and ensemble films such as #blacksheep and Mädchen Mädchen.

A petition asking Square Enix to release the canceled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Linkhas already gathered over 500 signatures in under a day. Square Enix announced the title in 2022 as a mobile Ar game similar to Pokémon Go, requiring players to get up and go outside to interact with the game. The game was supposed to take place in Scala ad Caelum following bridge the gap after the events of Union X, following a new cast of characters and building on established Kh lore.

Earlier this week, Square Enix announced that Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was officially canceled, as the developer "determined that it would be difficult for us to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time." A petition started by Illty Anon on Change.org asks the company to release the game anyway, to give fans of the series a chance to experience the game in "some form or other.

A small handful of screenshots might not seem like much to go on, until you realize we’re talking about Kingdom Hearts IV . Not only have we not had much to look at for a while, but fans can squeeze blood from a stone when it comes to the rare appearance of new media. One of the screenshots featured appears to show a playable King Mickey. This wouldn’t be a first for the prominent mascot, as Mickey has been playable in a limited capacity in the past. Following the cancellation of another Kingdom Hearts game, Square Enix has released the first new screenshots for Kingdom Hearts 4 in over three years. The upcoming game will continue the story of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, which combines the storytelling and developed characters of Square Enix with Disney characters. For as far back as memory goes, Monday has been synonymous with drama on the Fox schedule. Some of the network’s signature series of the last couple of decades like 24, House, Prison Break and 9-1-1 have called the night home for all or significant portion of their run. That will change this coming fall when Monday night will go unscripted in a non-strike year with Name That Tune and Celebrity Weakest Link, leaving Tuesday night as the only night featuring live-action scripted programming on the network.

“Thematically, our goal for Fox is to deliver entertainment that speaks to our strengths. Irreverent. Fun And a place where comedy and emotional connectivity run throughout our schedule,” Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said during the network’s pre-upfront press call Sunday.

The company has hired former NBCU unscripted chief Jenny Groom and promoted Ryan O’Dowd and Krystal Whitney.

The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a perfect opportunity to add a much-needed update to Nintendo Switch Online. It's no secret that Nso's track record with legacy content is far from perfect. The slow rate at which classic Nintendo titles are added to the service means that certain iconic games have yet to be granted another chance in the spotlight.

However, Nintendo has a chance to improve on Nso's legacy content. The news of Nso being transferred to the upcoming Switch 2 (alongside confirmation of the Switch 2's backward compatability) means that the current library of retro games is only going to get bigger and better. And, if Nintendo decides to add a certain console's library to the service, it would be a huge improvement to the Nso service overall, while making the Switch 2 a far more appealing purchase to players.

Fans of the video game The Legend of Zelda (Live-Action) have been waiting a long time to see the characters come to life in live-action, and despite an announcement for the film's release, I'm more worried than ever about the movie actually being made. Obviously, video game adaptations had a bad reputation for many years. The entire genre appeared to be cursed to only release flops, but that all changed in 2019 and 2020 when Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog released live-action adaptations that worked.

Since then, more video game adaptations have come to the big screen, with some in live-action and others animated, but many have been major successes, and I have personally been a huge fan of these adaptations, finally shining a light on some incredible games that deserve more attention. But it also leads to questions about when other fan-favorite games will get their adaptations, and in 2023, Nintendo...

The Legend of Zelda franchise is massive, with over 29 games spanning across nearly 40 years. Throughout the franchise's lifetime, it has largely stuck to the same formula, combining puzzle-solving with adventures and sword-based combat across various dungeons, wastelands, and kingdoms. However, there have been times when the Zelda franchise changed things by leaning more towards certain mechanics, giving Link a brand-new ability, or simply deviating from the series' typically lighthearted tone.

There have been many different variations of the typical Zelda formula over the decades. Many of them have been well-received by critics and players alike, though there has been the occasional blunder. With so many games to choose from, certain entries clearly stand out from the rest, which makes all of them incredibly memorable in one way or another.

It doesnt take a keen eye to see that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom builds off of the Links Awakening remake from five years ago, but whether its an improvement over its predecessor could be a more contentious point. Like the original Links Awakening, the remake showcases the Zelda formula at its best, delivering classically great dungeon and puzzle design while exploring its own setting and tone. Im already loving Echoes of Wisdom more, however, and something that didn't really click for me in Links Awakening is actually part of whats winning me over this time around.

Echoes of Wisdom straddles the line between innovation and an embrace of the series' roots. A once-popular style of side quest hasn't been present in the Zelda series for 14 years. Echoes of Wisdom could bring back trading quests, first introduced by Link's Awakening, and appearing in six subsequent games.

Following two games that redefined the series' 3D ventures, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom seems to at least in part bring such innovation to the classic 2D side, though I'm hoping the game embraces tradition with one specific kind of quest. Playable Princess Zelda is clearly the most novel aspect of Echoes of Wisdom, but its Echo and Bind abilities also position it as a clear extension of Tears of the Kingdom's design ethos. Simply revisiting the overhead perspective of the 2D Zelda games gives it an inherent retro quality, however, and I expect to feel the influence...

The buzz regarding the beloved gaming franchise joining Fortnite’s ever-expanding universe suggests that the series is continuing its recent revival and expansion, and given Disney’s connection to the developers of the two projects, Square Enix and Epic Games, it’s easy to believe this pretty convincing leak.

Neal Mohan wants the Television Academy to watch more YouTube videos. The CEO of the Google-owned platform recently penned a guest column in The Hollywood Reporter. His thesis was a simple one: The work creators are doing is excellent enough to deserve Emmy consideration.

“Creators are defining a new era of entertainment,” Mohan wrote. “And they deserve the same acclaim as other creative professionals.”

Mohan supported his case by citing several of YouTube’s biggest channels. He sees the Sean Evans-hosted interview series Hot Ones as a show that is “reinventing” its genre, and he celebrated Good Mythical Morning hosts Rhett & Link for the “speed of their creativity and their strategies to respond to viewer feedback.” Michelle Khare, the creator behind Challenge Accepted, is another YouTube-based personality who is “pushing the envelope,” according to Mohan.
