First American (leading) film role for famed Japanese actor/singer/martial artist Hiroshi Fujioka, best known as the star of the famous tokusatsu (Japanese special effects) superhero TV series, Kamen Raidâ (1971). Americans would later remember him as the video game company Sega's karate hero mascot Sanshirô Segata. Among his martial arts talent, Fujioka is a real-life Bushido practitioner, which became very useful during the production of this film.
The movie's working title was ''Swordkill'' which later became a replacement title for the film in some markets and territories being re-titled from its initial release title of ''Ghost Warrior''.
Both Iceman (1984) and ''Swordkill'' aka ''Ghost Warrior'' (See: Le Guerrier fantôme (1984)) both featured an ancient man character frozen in the ice and being resuscitated back to life in the 20th Century. Both of the pictures debuted in the same year of 1984.
Debut theatrical feature film directed by writer-producer J. Larry Carroll. The production remains his first, final and only ever cinema movie as director.
The movie has been released on DVD / Blu-Ray on a double-bill with The House Where Evil Dwells (1982).
