Beginning in the late 1960s and spreading into the 1970s, American cinema was revolutionized by the New Hollywood movement. At the forefront of this movement was a crew of directors from different entertainment disciplines who spoke to the exploding youth counterculture with classics like "Bonnie and Clyde," "The Graduate," and "M*A*S*H." The world felt like it was going mad, but the movies were somehow helping us make sense of this descent. Before moviegoers could adjust to this newfangled mode of motion picture art, the film brats arrived. Francis Ford Coppola, Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg rattled the industry's cage in wildly different ways. It was a glorious time. Then studios, with the perhaps unwitting assistance of Lucas and Spielberg, locked in on a formula: They could make hundreds of millions of dollars off a single movie if they hit the right commercial buttons.

One of the prolific young actor ensembles in Hollywood in the 1980s was the Brat Pack. A label coined by journalist David Blum in 1985, the Brat Pack was a play on the term, the Rat Pack, led by Frank Sinatra in the '60s. The core group consisted of Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, and Andrew McCarthy. By Blum's definition, the Brat Pack was composed of the main young actors in the two successful 1985 movies "The Breakfast Club" and "St. Elmo's Fire."

A member of the Brat Pack himself, director Andrew McCarthy managed to wrangle most of the group's members for his documentary, the aptly titled Brats, two actors are noticeably absent: Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson. A play on the informal group of '50s and '60s entertainers known as the Rat Pack, the Brat Pack refers to actors who appeared together in a string of coming-of-age films in the 1980s. So-called "core" Brat Pack members, like McCarthy, Ringwald, and Nelson, appeared in the ensembles of either John Hughes's The Breakfast Club and Joel Schumacher's St.

The Brat Pack defined 80s cinema but not all their films were hits, ranging from forgotten to iconic. Twelve official Brat Pack films starred at least two core members of the group. Some Brat Pack movies like "The Breakfast Club" and "Pretty in Pink" are enduring classics, while others like "Blue City" missed the mark.

The Brat Pack ruled the big-screen in the 1980s, as charted in the documentary Brats but their actual films ranged from forgettable misfires to cultural touchstones. The Brat Pack was an informal name for a group of young movie stars who, between 1983 and 1990, frequently collaborated with one another on projects. While there were several other films produced in this era that adhered to similar structures that are among the best movies of the 1980s, there are officially twelve movies that are considered to be genuine Brat Pack films, because they star at least two members of the group.

Many things made the 1980s a unique decade, including big hair, brightly colored outfits, and MTV music videos.

The movies of the '80s were especially iconic. This decade gave us The Goonies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and many more greats.

It was also the period when the Brat Pack was taking Hollywood by storm.

The Era of Teen Movie Cast Repetition

On February 15, 1985, the John Hughes classic coming-of-age teen flick The Breakfast Club, about five teens stuck in Saturday detention, premiered.

A few months later, St. Elmo's Fire was released.

It was another hit movie about the ups and downs of relationships and love featuring stars like Andrew McCarthy.

Other teen movies, such as Sixteen Candles (1984) and Pretty in Pink (1986), also premiered around that same time.

September usually means the beginning of the traditional fall TV season. As such, Hulu’s list of new releases for September 2021 contains some impressive TV swings.

For starters, all of ABC and Fox’s (both now united under the Disney banner alongside Hulu) fall season offerings will be made available to stream on Hulu the next day. More impressively, however, two FX on Hulu originals make their way to the streaming world this month.

The first is the long-awaited adaptation of the classic comic Y: The Last Man. The story of a virus that destroys every mammal with a Y-chromosome (save for one escape artist and his monkey) is set to premiere on September 13. Shortly after that, the B.J. Novak-produced anthology series The Premise arrives on September 16. Even those who are fatigued from timely anthology concepts will want to check this one out.

Hulu is out with its list of everything new coming and everything leaving the streaming service in the month of October.

Highlights include seasons four and seven of “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days,” Season 8 of “My 600-lb Life” featuring the late star Coliesa McMillian, and a bunch of cooking shows including seasons nine and 10 of “Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern,” Season 13 of “Cutthroat Kitchen” and Season 18 of “Hell’s Kitchen.” All of those come out Oct. 1.

For Halloween, catch the Hulu Original series “Monsterland” out Oct. 2.

It’s almost spooky season, and the various streaming services are making sure that subscribers have got plenty of great horror content for all ages available to watch this Halloween. Given the current state of the world, this All Hallow’s Eve will see more folks staying in than ever before, so we’ll need as much choice when it comes to finding a perfect movie or TV show to dive into as possible. Thankfully, Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video have got us covered.

Of course, there’s much more beyond just horror content arriving across the streaming world this October, with the first day of the month launching hundreds of new titles on all the various sites. There are also a few key highlights scattered throughout the month. Arguably the biggest is Aaron Sorkin’s much-anticipated all-star drama based on real events, The Trial of the Chicago 7,...

October is officially spooky season and it’s nice to know that some streaming services (*cough*Disney+*cough*) are taking that responsibility very seriously.

For its new releases in October 2020, Hulu is premiering the Marvel TV universe’s first-ever outright horror series. Helstrom debuts on Oct. 16 and follows Marvel Comics character Daimon Helstrom as he struggles against all manner of demonic forces. Another spooky treat arriving this month is Monsterland on Oct. 2. This anthology will feature scary stories from around the country.

On the movie side of things, Hulu is bringing out Clive Barker adaptation Books of Blood on Oct. 7 and Bad Hair on Oct. 23. Thank you, Hulu, for your spooky service.

There are a lot of non-Hulu TV shows of note arriving in October as well. The final season of Homeland will be available to stream on Oct. 26. The premiere of Saturday Night Live‘s 46th season will arrive on Oct.

We’re now just over halfway through September, so let’s turn our attention to what’s coming to Hulu next month. Every October, the streaming service celebrates “Huluween” by adding a bunch of new Halloween-themed content. And this year is no different, with countless classic movies going up on the site that you’ll want to check out to get you in the spooky mood as well as a few notable originals.

These include anthology series Monsterland (October 2nd) and horror comedy film Bad Hair (October 23rd), starring Lena Waithe, Vanessa Williams and Laverne Cox, from Dear White People director Justin Simien. Superhero fans will also want to catch supernatural-themed Marvel series Helstrom (October 16th). The final production from Marvel Television, it’s sadly already doomed to just the one season.

Leaving at the end of the month are classics like “Bend It Like Beckham,” “Blazing Saddles” and “Kill Bill” volumes one and two.

Hulu is out with its list of everything new coming and going in March, and the new additions include the three-episode series premiere of “Little Fires Everywhere” starring Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon, and the premiere of the Hillary Clinton documentary “Hillary.”

Those two shows premiere March 18 and March 6, respectively. Other highlights include “Into the Dark: Crawlers,” about body-switching aliens and also out on March 6; the complete second season of “Love Island: Australia” coming March 13, and the two-episode series premiere of “Devs” starring Nick Offerman on March 6.

Movies leaving the site on March 31 include “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Precious” and “Big Fish.”

March sees the beginning of one of TV's more interesting experiment in 2020. Hulu's new releases for March 2020 are highlighted by the launch of the torturously-named "FX on Hulu" in which certain FX shows will premiere exclusively on Hulu.

Yes, when Disney set out up the entertainment industry, it gained more brands than it knew what to do with. And that's how you get stuff like FX on Hulu. The streaming/cable hybrid begins in earnest in March with two series, Alex Garland's sci-fi Devs and the weird Lil Dickey comedy Dave. More FX on Hulu is set to arrive in April as well.

The man who launched a thousand memes, and took Youtube by storm some 30 years after performing a wordless song for Russian TV has died. Eduard Khil – the People’s Artist of Russia – who is better known to Western audiences and internet fans the world over as the “Trololo Man,” passed away this morning in St. Petersburg, after being hospitalized at the Polenov Neurosurgical Institute by a stroke in early April.

77 year old Khil was born 4th Septermber 1934, in Smolensk, suffering a difficult childhood that saw his parents split up and him ending up in a children’s home after his kindergarten was bombed and he was separated from his mother during evacuation. Reunited with his mother after the war, he eventually graduated printing college and embarked on a classical music education at the Leningrad Conservatory.

After graduation in 1960, Khil fell in love with pop music, and up to 1974 was awarded...

Warning! (Or, Good News! depending on your point of view). The next Syfy Original Movie is not about a monster or a cataclysmic event. It’s a movie based on the Red Faction video game series, and it looks really promising, so mark your calendars: Red Faction: Origins will be airing this Saturday, June 4, at 9 pm. On May 31, Syfy hosted a Q&A panel with four of the principals from the movie. During the panel, stars Brian J. Smith (Sgu) and Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica), director Michael Nankin (Caprica, Battlestar Galactica) and executive producer and writer Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe, Warehouse 13) shed light on the production, and what might be in store for the franchise.

Those who love the Red Faction games will be relieved to know that writer Kreisberg had played Red Faction: Guerrilla, and jumped on the chance to write this movie when approached by Syfy.

Shooting on "The Dark Knight Rises" is set to take place in Jodhpur, India reports Daily Bhaskar.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has reportedly given the go-ahead to Us-based Cape Road Productions to lens part of the next Batman flick in the Blue City.

A unique locale, Jodhpur is dominated by two geographical features - the imposing hilltop Mehrangarh Fort and the blue-painted houses that surround it. The fort itself has been used on film before, most recently in Tarsem's acclaimed "The Fall".

The news comes as photos popped up online this week of actors Tom Hardy and Christian Bale. The former has obviously been working out and shows off a beefier frame in photos here and here, though there's no sign of a costume.

The photo of Bale, which looks like he's been on the receiving end of a major punch-up, is more contentious as some have suggested...

Indian newspaper Daily Bhaskar is reporting that The Dark Knight Rises will film in India.

"Get set to welcome DC Comics superhero Batman as he arrives in the Blue City. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has given the nod to Us-based Cape Road Productions to lense the next Batman flick, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in Jodhpur."

Jodhpur is the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan and is referred to as the Blue City (as stated in the reference above) because many of the houses are painted blue.

The Dark Knight Rises has a growing cast that includes Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Michael Caine.
