This movie as we know was suppose to go to Amitabh Bachchan, who turned down the role. It was during the time Amitabh was involved in politics and didn't have time for films. Anyway, Jackie Shroff does a good job as i am not fond of him as an actor. Meenakshi is pretty and she plays the prostitute in this film and delivers a good performance. The movie has many top actors in this film which include Waheeda Rehman and Shammi Kapoor. Dimple Kapadia is an actress im not a big fan of, but she was alright. The movie has an interesting script with many twists and mix of action, comedy, romance and adventure. The movie resembles the fantastic film Coolie, but still is different. It is directed by Desai family who are the best directors in Hindi cinema. Overall this is a fantastic film that everyone should enjoy apart from racist people.
Allah Rakha review :
Jackie Shroff stepped in to the titular role meant for Amitabh Bachchan who turned it down as he was busy pursuing a political career at that time. The film, directed by Ketan Desai, was an extension of pappa Manmohan Desai's Coolie (1983) and quite a few elements from that blockbuster were repeated here - from the hero's name Iqbal to the number '786' acting as savior. The sub plot of Allah Rakha fighting his evil doppelganger was said to be borrowed from Amitabh's 1978 shelved film Khuda Gawah.
In contrast to her image, Meenakshi Sheshadri played a fiery prostitute and she stole the show though her role was smaller than Dimple Kapadia who was the main heroine. Then newcomer Jackie Dada was not too bad as the lead but clearly unable to match to what Bachchan could've done to Allah Rakha. The end result was a flop film. Alas!!

Good drama with deep social implications...performance by Bob Christo was outstanding! The plot centers on the struggle of a poor Hindi family's struggle to survive in an area recently subject to political oppression.
I thought this movie was fantastic but I would have prepared Amitabh Bhachan as Allah Rakha because he just brings up the magic because he was good as the main character in coolie.Jackie Shroff was good at playing Iqbal as well and I would say that this was his best film. Bob Christo was good at playing Don and Biswajeet was average at playing an Inspector (Inspector Anwar). I thought Shaami Kapoor was great at playing his role. Waheeda Rehman was good in this film but I prefer her in Coolie. Bindu was good at playing the negative role in this film but I thought she was much better in Main hoon na because she was hilarious.

- TriviaAllah Rakha ended up being the main reason Manmohan Desai and Subhash Ghai's friendship got destroyed. Jackie Shroff was the poor scapegoat in the middle. Manmohan Desai was to distribute the film in Delhi and backed out at the last minute. Ghai felt that Manmohan Desai had taken the film to sabotage it. If he was the distributor he could release the film in limited theaters with minimal publicity. In those days Karma and Allah Rakha was being made at the same time and were going to release together. Many stories were in the press that Ghai would hold Jackie Shroff on the Karma sets so he could delay the making of Allah Rakha . Many stories of Manmohan Desai ill treating Jackie due to Jackie being Subhash Ghai's protegee were also in the media. Manmohan Desai accused Jackie Shroff of telling Ghai about some scenes from Allah Rakha. Subhash Ghai would then use those same scenes for Karma. For the longest time Allah Rakha and Karma were going to release on the same day. Manmohan Desai and Subhash Ghai finally sat down and discussed the release date mess they were in. Subhash Ghai denied all allegations against him saying he respected Desai as a senior and had no issues with him.
