In a role that will have her face-to-face with the human toll of war, Jennifer Lawrence has been tapped to play acclaimed war photographer Lynsey Addario in a new film to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Warner Bros. is closing the deal, based on Addario's memoir, It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love And War, Deadline first reported. Addario, 41, made headlines in January when The New York Times Magazine ran an excerpt of her book, tantalizingly titling the article, "What Can a Pregnant Photojournalist Cover? Everything." Known for producing searing images of people in crisis, the award-winning Addario...

Warner Bros. Pictures is closing a deal to produce a film adaptation of Lynsey Addario's memoir "It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life Of Love And War".
Steven Spielberg is attached to direct, Jennifer Lawrence to star and Andrew Lazar to produce the project which deals with a Pulitzer Prize-winning female journalist who goes into the most dangerous places in the world in search of truth.
She explored how Afghans suffered during the Taliban regime and covered the Iraqi War, Darfur victims, mass rape in the Congo, and the Libyan civil war during which she was kidnapped by pro-Quaddafi forces.
Warners appears to have beaten out a bunch of bidders for the project with other major names linked to those potential versions including Darren Aronofsky, George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman and Margot Robbie.

As the sands slowly shift for that Chris Pratt/Indiana Jones affair that we’d be secretly okay with, another potential project for Spielberg has gained new life thanks to a deal being cut for its top star. Deadline have got word that Warner Bros. have nabbed Jennifer Lawrence to take the lead in true-life war tale, It’s What I Do, which will tell the story of Lynsey Addario, a renowned photographer whose work took her to some of the most dangerous locations in the world.
Adapted from Addario’s own book, A Photographer’s Life Of Love And War, It’s What I Do will focus on Addario’s career that took her to Afghanistan, Iraq, the Congo and Haiti to name a few. What could gain the most attention however, will be her time in March 2011, where she was held for six days in Libya, along with three other journalists.

Here's a pair who haven't yet worked together. Steven Spielberg looks like he's set to direct a new movie starring Jennifer Lawerence. The project that currently has them both attached is It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life Of Love And War. That's unlikely to be the ultimate movie title, but it's the name of a memoir by Lynsey Addario.
Due for publication at the end of the month, the book tells the real-life story of war photographer Addario as she seeks to photograph modern battles, both before and after conflict strikes. Not only did she fight into a profession generally deemed to be male-dominated, she also has taken pictures of war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Darfur and the Congo. Her desire: to show the truth about war.

Jennifer Lawrence is being eyed up for a starring role in a new war film from Steven Spielberg.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros is set to close a deal for Lynsey Addario's memoir It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War.
Bidders including Working Title and The Weinstein Company have apparently been fighting for the novel's rights after an excerpt was featured in The New York Times Magazine.
Addario, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, shares her experiences from within Afghanistan after 9/11 in the memoir.
The journalist looks into how Afghans suffered during moments such as the Taliban regime and the Iraqi War, and also details the time she was kidnapped by pro-Gaddafi forces.
Warner Bros has also lined up Andrew Lazar to produce the movie alongside Spielberg, should it secure the rights.

Pairing Steven Spielberg and Jennifer Lawrence, the biggest A-list director and arguably the biggest A-list actress today, seems like a no-brainer no matter what they’re working on. But with a property as hot as Lynsey Addario’s memoir, It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War, it’s got prestige and awards pedigree written all over it.
Deadline is reporting that Lawrence is attached to star in the Spielberg directed project for Warner Bros., and that the pair beat out other actresses bidding for the project from Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, Margot Robbie and from directors such as Darren Aronofsky and George Clooney.
Addario has taken photos for everyone from AP, New York Times, Time, National Geographic, and Newsweek, and she’s been to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, and Libya, where she was kidnapped along with three other colleagues, to name just a few of...

Will Oscar voters take special note of this pairing for the adaptation of "It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War"? The memoir by Lynsey Addario has had no shortage of bidders "for the life of a woman who goes into the most dangerous places in the world in search of truth." Others in the auction included Reese Witherspoon, Darren Aronofsky (for Natalie Portman), Margot Robbie, and George Clooney. Deadline -Break- Is Dame Maggie Smith leaving "Downton Abbey" after the upcoming sixth season? She has won two Emmys for her role as the Dowager Countess on the BBC and PBS drama series. A film project with a compelling subject matter – the life experiences of a war photographer – that boasts Jennifer Lawrence is something that in itself would provoke plenty of interest from studios. Warner Bros. has snapped up rights to adapt It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War, a memoir by Lynsey Addario that the studio has snagged Steven Spielberg to direct and Jennifer Lawrence to star in.
The project has been red-hot ever since an excerpt from It’s What I Do ran in The New York Times Magazine, and the recent media spotlight on the perils faced by war-zone reporters makes it extremely timely as well.
Addario is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist whose work took her to the most hostile regions on Earth. She reported out of Afghanistan following the U.S.’s invasion there, specifically centering on the human cost of conflict. Some of her stories centered on genocide victims in Darfur, Afghans under the Taliban’s thumb and victims of rape in the Congo. Perhaps the most compelling and harrowing chapter of Addario...

Steven Spielberg is busy, busy, busy. The director is currently readying his next movie, the untitled Cold War thriller starring Tom Hanks which will be released this fall (and which we think will be an Oscar contender). After that, he's got "The B.F.G." due in 2016, and among the potential projects on his plate is "Indiana Jones 5," possibly with Chris Pratt, and the Ptsd military drama "Thank You For Your Service.” Now, he's got another military movie brewing with one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood attached. Deadline reports that Jennifer Lawrence will star in Spielberg's adaptation of the memoir “It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love and War.” Photojournalist Lynsey Addario penned the book about her time in Afghanistan, Africa and Iraq. Love and war over the power of literature versus painting take center stage in Fred Schepisi’s witty romantic drama, Words and Pictures, opening in theaters May 23rd. Battle lines are drawn when a prep school English teacher and one-time literary star Jack Marcus (Clive Owen) challenges a new teacher and once celebrated abstract painter Dina Delsanto (Juliette Binoche) to disprove his conviction that the art of the written word trumps the visual arts in its ability to convey meaning, ideas, and emotion. The declaration of war galvanizes their students, but as Marcus and Delsanto square off, they suddenly realize they may have met their match. In an exclusive interview, Schepisi talked about the appeal of Gerald Dipego’s complex screenplay, the ways it touches on the impact of today’s technology and our obsession with social media, how he landed Owen and Binoche in the lead roles, the emotional...
