For a while there, we were all wondering just who would be playing the next James Bond. And while a few names were tossed in and out, nothing has yet to come of it. But now that casting has almost been pushed to the side following the Amazon MGM Studios buyout of the Bond franchise, with fans more curious where the overall direction will lead. Even still, rumors have gotten so crazy about the casting that some past 007s are being forced to weigh in, including Bond #5, Pierce Brosnan.
Brosnan recently spoke with GQ (ahead of the releases of Paramount+’s upcoming series MobLand), where the topic of Bond inevitably came up, particularly as it relates to the rumors that Brosnan himself would be donning the suit once more. “I’ve heard of that. Of course, how could I not be interested? But it’s a delicate situation now. I...

Had all gone according to plan, Roger Moore would've passed his Walther Ppk to Pierce Brosnan after the former wheezed his way through "A View to a Kill" at the age of 58. Eon Productions had chosen the "Remington Steele" star as the next 007, and anyone who'd watched the NBC series knew Brosnan was born to play Ian Fleming's MI6 agent. Unfortunately, NBC realized they had the option to a fifth season of a show starring the next James Bond, and exercised it in the bizarre belief that viewers would return to the fading series in droves to watch a glum Brosnan not play James Bond. This worked out well for precisely no one.
While I'd love to live in the timeline where Timothy Dalton's no-nonsense 007 — the closest in look and temperament to Fleming's book version of Bond — stuck around for longer than two movies, the...

The 2025 Oscars were shaken (not stirred) by the most famous spy in the world.
Sunday’s 97th annual Academy Awards ceremony featured a tribute to James Bond and the franchise’s long-running history of legendary and Oscar-nominated and -winning theme songs, including winner “Skyfall” (which was performed and cowritten by Adele)
The Bond franchise has received six Oscar nominations for its many indelible songs, including “Live and Let Die” from 1973’s Live and Let Die (performed by Wings and cowritten by Paul and Linda McCartney), “Nobody Does It Better” from 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me (performed and written by Carly Simon), and “For Your Eyes Only” from 1981’s For Your Eyes Only (performed by Sheena Easton and written by Bill Conti and Mick Leeson). Famous tracks performed by Shirley Bassey (“Goldfinger”), Nancy Sinatra (“You Only Live Twice”), and Duran Duran (“A View to a Kill”) were snubbed by the Academy.

The James Bond franchise got its own moment at the 2025 Oscars with a medley dedicated to the films and performed by Lisa, Doja Cat and Raye, with a preamble by Margaret Qualley in the form of a dance to the movie’s theme. Lisa sang a snippet of “Live and Let Die” while showing off her own dance moves, Doja took on “Diamonds are Forever,” originally sung by Shirley Bassey, and Raye sang “Skyfall,” for which Adele won an Oscar in 2012.

"Quantum of Solace" may be the most baffling entry in the entire "James Bond" franchise. Sure, you have to throw other oddities into contention, like "A View to a Kill" or "Octopussy" ... but enough about the end of Roger Moore's "Bond" run (it can't hurt us anymore). For all the "grounded" grittiness of the Daniel Craig era, this last chapter of 007 history brought a couple of duds in the form of "Quantum of Solace" and "Spectre." The former, however, is far more of a mess, starting with the title itself, which still confounds many a casual viewer.
The name "Quantum of Solace" actually comes from an Ian Fleming short story. Far from the tales of espionage that normally make up the "James Bond" film universe, the story takes place at an aristocratic dinner party attended by 007. The main subject of conversation is domestic drama, with the title being connected...

Pierce Brosnan is a preposterously handsome man, and like most preposterously handsome men, he looks positively spectacular in just about any piece of clothing you can throw on him. A tuxedo is like a second layer of skin for Brosnan. He can rock a suede blazer with more verve than any other man on the planet. He could probably set hearts a-flutter in a clown suit.
Brosnan has been a men's fashion plate since "Remington Steele" turned him into a global superstar 43 years ago. He was the first choice to succeed Roger Moore as James Bond after "A View to a Kill," and only lost out on the role because NBC exercised its option on a fifth season of "Remington Steele" that no one wanted. Obviously, he eventually landed the role he was seemingly born to play, but while Brosnan was only ever perfect as Bond, the films around him tended to let him down.

Did Timothy Dalton initially reject the James Bond role?(Photo Credit – YouTube)
Since his debut in Dr. No (1962), James Bond has become one of the most iconic characters in cinematic history. Created by Ian Fleming, the British spy has been ruling Box Office for over six decades, evolving with the times while maintaining his signature charm and deadly skill set. Over the years, multiple actors have stepped into the role, each bringing their own interpretation to the legendary agent.
Sean Connery set the standard with his charisma, followed by George Lazenby’s brief but memorable stint. Roger Moore brought a more humorous take, while Timothy Dalton emphasized a darker, more grounded Bond. Pierce Brosnan balanced sophistication with explosive action, and Daniel Craig redefined the character with an emotionally complex edge. Get ready to shake your martinis to the iconic sounds of James Bond theme songs, as the longtime producers of the seminal cinematic franchise are set to be honored with a musical tribute at the 97th annual Academy Awards. According to reports, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will be honored on the main stage after receiving their own Honorary Oscars at the Governors Awards.
In a new report from Variety — though the Academy Awards themselves have not yet commented on the matter — it was confirmed that Wicked will not be the only musical moment to take place during Sunday's Oscar ceremony. Though details on specifics remain scarce, Variety had this to say about what they did know about the musical moment:
"It is unclear whether the tribute will focus solely on Oscar-winning and nominated songs or take a broader approach to celebrating all 26 Bond themes. However, according to sources,...

The Vampire Diaries is an iconic series that captivated fans with its intense romantic entanglements and complex supernatural plots. However, the show was eight seasons long, and not every viewer could watch it till the very end. While Elena, Stefan, and Damon's stories were addictive, the magic of Mystic Falls wore off for some fans at certain points during the series, which led them to throw in the towel.
Sometimes, a shocking character death, a controversial plot twist, or the betrayal of fan-favorite relationships led to this. These shifts in the narrative either left fans heartbroken or jumped the shark and turned them off the show completely. These moments disillusioned large parts of the fandom, and they decided to move on from the show and didn't look back.

When Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson ceded all creative control of James Bond to Amazon MGM Studios, eras ended.
Half-siblings Broccoli and Wilson had extraordinary control over the Bond franchise, personally steering the films after they inherited the company Eon Productions from Broccoli’s father and Wilson’s stepfather, Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli in 1995. More than any director, they were the arbiters of “what is a James Bond film,” navigating Bond’s post-Cold War reinvention with Pierce Brosnan in the ’90s and selecting Daniel Craig as his replacement in 2005.
Reports in Deadline on February 20 say that Amazon bought out the pair for $1 billion — but that the vibe in Broccoli and Wilson’s orbit is “of a death in the family.”
Not long ago, a Bond fan might expect a 007 film to feature a Jeff Bezos-style villain. He shares a bald pate with Blofeld, as well as his own personal rocket fleet.

James Bond might be one of cinema's most celebrated heroes, but he's not been without his share of missteps. 007 has now been a staple of pop culture for more than 60 years, ever since 1962's "Dr. No" kicked off cinema's most enduring franchise. But maintaining unwavering quality throughout the decades was always going to be a tall order, even for England's greatest spy. As such, we've seen Bond endure some truly abject moments throughout the decades.
According to IMDb, the worst James Bond movie is "Die Another Day." Pierce Brosnan's swan song as 007 is perpetually vilified for its outright silliness, featuring as it does a central villain who transforms from a Korean general to an insufferable British character. But others might well argue that Daniel Craig's tenure in the tux was an astounding demonstration of diminishing returns, ending with...

The Vampire Diaries was an action-packed fantasy show that combined the best of romance, the supernatural, and drama. It was chock-full of both villains and the good guys, and they often had to battle it out to save their loved ones or the quaint town of Mystic Falls. These fights were thrilling to watch because they made the stakes higher, as vampires, werewolves, witches, and humans showcased their best abilities as they took each other on.
These fights were great because they weren't just about physical action but were steeped in character development, high stakes, and a lot of emotional depth, even if that emotion was hatred. The mix of relationships, power struggles, and personal motivations made these fights iconic in The Vampire Diaries.

Even though the world-renowned secret agent is all tied up in a legal battle at the moment, English writer Ian Fleming’s James Bond has amassed a terrific cinematic history through the years. There are 12 novels, 25 films, 30 video games, novels, comics — you name it, James Bond is probably in it. In saying that, anything fantasy-based is probably the farthest thing from your mind. The titular character’s origins go hand in hand with actual British history, after all.
For just a moment, though, let’s go ahead and run with that genre. Almost 50 years ago, James Bond was actually in a fantasy film along with some other names like The Exorcist, The Godfather, Emmanuelle (the lead character in a number of erotic films), and Dracula. Is this some sort of underground fan film?...

Prior to 1985, Kevin Costner was probably best known in Hollywood, to the extent that he was known at all, as the corpse of Alex Marshall in Lawrence Kasdan's Baby Boomer drama "The Big Chill." Alex is the friend whose death occasions the gathering of the University of Michigan alums, and whose presence is felt rather than seen. This was not initially by design. Costner's Alex was supposed to appear in flashback, but was completely cut out of the movie by Kasdan when test audiences reacted poorly to meeting the character after ninety-odd minutes of build-up.
When 1985 rolled around, Costner had two films sitting on the shelf, a Canadian crime drama called "The Gunrunner" and Kevin Reynolds' college friendship comedy "Fandango." The former was lousy and would sit on the shelf until 1989, while the latter was a charming misfire that, because it had been disowned by producer Steven Spielberg, was dumped into U.

James Bond fans are a finicky lot. Nowadays, the majority of them were introduced to the character via the movies, which invariably drove them to breeze through Ian Fleming's eminently readable novels. When they come out on the other side of that experience, they're either more nit-picky about the films or more open to the multitudes this licensed-to-kill MI6 agent can contain depending on who's writing him and, of course, who's brandishing the trusty Walther Ppk.

James Bond might sound like one of the least likely franchises to be adapted into a children's TV show, but the 1990s TV show James Bond Jr. attempted, unsuccessfully, to do it. The 007 franchise has 25 official James Bond movies, and video games based on the James Bond movies, but no official TV shows yet. Skyfall established that James Bond had no living family, which is now considered canon for the franchise. However, James Bond Jr. was released in 1994 and its plot followed the daring adventures of a spy relative of James Bond.
Like the Bond movies, James Bond Jr. was developed by Eon Productions, but it was so poorly received that the company quickly tried to distance itself from the show. The least-rated 007 movie, A View To A Kill, received just 36% on Rotten Tomatoes, and James Bond Jr. is widely considered even more of a failure. Many reasons...

When the best James Bond movie of all time, "Casino Royale," debuted in 2006, the franchise was immediately reinvigorated with Daniel Craig's 007 representing a truly fresh take on the character. Director Martin Campbell, who a decade prior had kicked off Pierce Brosnan's tenure in the tux in similarly spectacular fashion with "GoldenEye," reintroduced audiences to a modern Bond, taking cues from 2001's "The Bourne Identity" and its 2004 sequel to give England's greatest spy a more grounded and — yes, I'm going to use the word — gritty treatment.
But then, things sort of fell apart. 2008's "Quantum of Solace" was the biggest disaster in Bond history, but not for the reasons you may have heard. The film was decent but didn't fare well with critics and fans, prompting custodians of the Bond franchise, Eon Productions, to change tack. With a career spanning five decades, the man has kept busy, playing over 100 parts… and now, we have taken on the task of picking some of his best movies. Here we go:
Don’T Kill It (2016)
Directed by Mike Mendez, Don’t Kill It combines action, horror, and comedy while dropping Lundgren into the role of badass demon hunter Jebediah Woodley, who seems more interested in finding his next drink than catching demons. His vocation has brought him to Chickory Creek, Mississippi, where Christmas is being ruined...

The 1980s brought some of the best James Bond movies, like License to Kill and the massively underrated For Your Eyes Only, but it also brought some of the worst, like Octopussy and A View to a Kill. The ‘80s were a very hit-and-miss time for Hollywood, as the experimentation of the American New Wave was replaced by flashy big-budget studio fare, and, by extension, it was a hit-and-miss period for the Bond franchise. The decade kicked off with the final years of the Roger Moore era, when many critics were complaining that Moore had aged out of the role.
After Moore’s tenure ended, Timothy Dalton was brought in with a radical reinvention of the character. The goofy, tongue-in-cheek humor of the Moore era was replaced by a darker, more grounded tone more in line with Ian Fleming’s source material. Dalton’s two Bond movies were the polar...

80s action legend Dolph Lundgren reveals what he learned from working with Sylvester Stallone on Rocky IV, and how this later evolved with The Expendables franchise. Lundgren became a European karate champion in 1980-81, before moving to New York City to study acting in the mid-1980s, eventually securing his movie debut with a supporting role in the James Bond movie A View to a Kill. Following this, Lundgren went on to have a strong career as an action hero in movies throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Red Scorpion, Masters of the Universe, Showdown in Little Tokyo, and Universal Soldier.
In a panel with Screen Rant at Fan Expo San Francisco, The Punisher star discusses what he learned working with Stallone on Rocky IV, and how their relationship evolved in their reunion 25 years later. Lundgren's breakout role came in 1985 when he portrayed Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in Rocky IV....

Priscilla Presley is no stranger to the spotlight. From her high-profile marriage to Elvis Presley to her memorable role as Jane Spencer in The Naked Gun trilogy, she’s left an indelible mark on pop culture. But one role fans may not know she was offered? A Bond Girl. Presley was famously offered the role of Bond Girl Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill alongside Roger Moore back in 1985, and it was reported that Presley didn't take part in the film due to her commitments to the television series Dallas, with the part ultimately going to Tanya Roberts, who appeared alongside Christopher Walken and Grace Jones.

In the early 1980s, the James Bond film series was in a period of transition, with aged series star Roger Moore, whose tenure as Bond began with the 1973 installment Live and Let Die and ended with the 1985 release of A View to a Kill, poised to retire as Bond. With the series in a state of upheaval, Hollywood saw an opening with which to create its own successor to Bond.

Skyfall was Daniel Craig's billion-dollar-grossing James Bond film where M (Judi Dench) emerged as the true Bond Girl who became 007's mission to protect. Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall was a global box office hit in 2012 that took Daniel Craig's James Bond back to basics. Casino Royale rebooted 007 with Craig and refreshed multiple aspects of his James Bond. Skyfall melded Craig's new style of Bond with some more traditional tropes, and one of them was replacing Judi Dench's M with a male supervisor, Mallory (Ralph Fiennes).
007's Bond Girls have traditionally been romantic foils, and sometimes enemies, of James Bond. Traditionally, a Bond Girl is a beautiful woman who 007 must protect or team up with and becomes his love interest for the duration of a film. Sometimes, Bond Girls can be a villain trying to kill 007, like May Day (Grace Jones) in 1985's A View to a Kill or...

In its eight seasons, The Vampire Diaries managed to make audiences feel butterflies, grief, pain, joy, and even fear. Damon, Stefan, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, and Matt were compelling characters who kept fans hooked with their personalities, and they had intriguing adventures with the best and worst of the supernatural in Mystic Falls. However, they also exhibited unintentional hilarity sometimes, which kept the show fresh.
These moments were not meant to be funny most times, but the way the actors delivered them happened to tickle people's funny bones. Otherwise, the writing of a particular scene was so odd and out of character that fans were reduced to tears of laughter. Most times, these unintentionally amusing moments in Tvd endeared the audience to the characters and created memorable occasions.

The James Bond franchise has evolved rapidly over the course of six decades, and has certainly reached some incredible highs, as well as some unfortunate lows. Although modern classics like Goldfinger, Goldeneye, From Russia With Love, On Her Majestys Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, Casino Royale, and Skyfall have been heralded as some of the greatest action films ever made, some unfortunate failures like Die Another Day, Diamonds Are Forever, Quantum of Solace, and A View To A Kill have been dismissed as outright failures.

Fans of 007 are still waiting to see who will become the next actor to suit up in the tux as the next James Bond. Until an announcement is made, fans are continuing the debate over who'd be great for the role, but don't ask for Daniel Craig's opinion.
Craig previously played James Bond over the course of five feature films, culminating with 2021's No Time to Die. Ever since that film's release, it has been unclear when Bond 26 will start production, and no casting announcements for the iconic role have been officially made at this time. Per Variety, Craig was asked some questions about 007 during a recent interview alongside Drew Starkey to promote their new film Queer. The original script for the James Bond reboot following Roger Moores departure in the 1980s sounds more like an Indiana Jones movie than a Bond movie. Whenever a Bond actor retires from the role, the producers dont just have to find a new actor to don the tuxedo; they have to come up with a way to reinvent the franchise. They ended up following the goofy, tongue-in-cheek humor of Moores tenure with the darker, grittier, more faithful Timothy Dalton Bond movies but that wasnt their first thought.
By the time Moore stepped down from the role of 007 after A View to a Kill, hed been widely criticized for having aged out of the part. To combat these complaints, the producers initially planned to reboot the series with a much younger Bond early in his career. Richard Maibaum and Michael G. Wilson started work on a script, but the project was eventually abandoned.

James Bond director Sam Mendes has spoken about his potential future with the franchise. Before joining the long-running spy series adapted from the works of novelist Ian Fleming, Mendes was best known as the Oscar-winning director of 1999's American Beauty, the feature that also won Best Picture at the 2000 Academy Awards ceremony. His first Bond feature was the 2012 Daniel Craig era outing Skyfall. He then returned to helm 2015's Spectre. However, the final Craig movie, 2021's No Time to Die, was helmed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, and the upcoming James Bond 26 has no attached director.
Inverse recently interviewed Mendes while the filmmaker was promoting the HBO series The Franchise, on which he is an executive producer. When asked if he would consider returning for another James Bond movie, he referenced the 1983 Bond movie Never Say Never Again by saying "never say never," though he did express doubt about the prospect.

Christopher Walken possesses a rare ability to blend charisma with menace, bringing captivating portrayals of crime bosses to the screen. Whether playing a calculating mobster or a psychopathic kingpin, Walken infuses his characters with a unique mix of wit, intensity, and unpredictability. While many of these won't be considered among Christopher Walken's best films, his performances still often balance dark humor and simmering threats, creating compelling and dangerous villains.
What distinguishes Walken in these roles is his skill at portraying complex characters who transcend typical criminal stereotypes. These crime bosses exude a quiet power that can erupt into violence at any moment, and Walken captures this tension with remarkable skill. His portrayals provide a captivating look into the minds of men who thrive on control and dominance, leaving a lasting impression with his magnetic presence in each film.

The James Bond movie franchise has been running since Dr No. in 1962, with 25 official James Bond movies and seven James Bond actors, with an eighth actor yet to be announced for Bond 26. While no James Bond actor has made a cameo in a different 007 movie the Bond franchise is well-known for featuring cameos from celebrities and people involved in production.
Among many celebrity James Bond cameos, Madonna plays a fencing instructor in Die Another Day, pre-Stranger Things David Harbour sports a mustache in Quantum of Solace, and Virgin Airlines owner Richard Branson is searched by an airline in Casino Royale. When it was released, Spectre struck many a James Bond fan as a disappointment. It was coming on the heels of the phenomenal Skyfall, and even shared a director with that box office juggernaut, and had an odd take on Blofeld. But, there are aspects that work, including the opening and the non-traditional "Bond Girl" role for Monica Bellucci.
While on the promotional tour for Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Bellucci sat down with Vanity Fair and was asked about a few of her past roles. One of Sean Connery's worst blockbusters gave the screen icon the chance to play his very own James Bond villain. In spite of all the great James Bond actors who have followed in his footsteps, Connery's 007 is still considered the one to beat. His appearance as the British secret agent in Dr. No made him an instant movie star, and Connery's mix of good looks, charisma and brutality would set the template for Bond. Of course, Connery's thoughts on the series itself were mixed.
Disputes with the producers of the James Bond movie franchise over pay and being tied to a strict contract led to him quitting after 1967's You Only Live Twice. It goes without saying that the Roger Moore Era is James Bond's most polarizing period. On one hand, Moore revitalized James Bond himself by giving him a new upbeat and palatable personality. His interpretation of 007 got over so well with audiences that he headlined seven Bond movies, making him the longest-serving Bond actor in terms of output. Additionally, two of Moore's Bond movies are still seen today as two of the best super spy movies of all time. But on the other hand, Moore's campy and comedic approach attracted intense criticism and ridicule. As if to balance his two great Bond movies, two of Moore's movies also went down in history as the worst spy movies ever made.
Despite this messy legacy and whether Bond fans admit it or not, Moore is arguably the most consequential Bond. Without him, Bond wouldn't have become a blockbuster star who dominated the box...

“You’ve gone too far this time / But I’m dancing on the Valentine / I tell you somebody’s fooling around / With my chances on the danger line.” Those were the opening lyrics to “The Reflex” by the English new wave band Duran Duran. And 40 years ago this summer they helped the group score their first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. “The Reflex” may have been a “lonely child,” but the song propelled the group to unparalleled popularity at the time.
Originally formed in Birmingham, England, in 1978, Duran Duran actually had a bit of a rough start in their quest for mainstream success in the United States. While Henry Cavill awaits his destiny as Agent 007 in the James Bond films, the producers are reportedly looking at changing up a different aspect of the legendary spy franchise. According to a source, producer Barbara Broccoli is looking at artists such as Bruno Mars and The Weeknd to produce the theme song of the next Bond film.
The James Bond films have always featured an original song for their grand opening credits sequences. Three of these songs have won Oscars in the past, including Adele’s ‘Skyfall’, Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s on the Wall’, and Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s ‘No Time To Die’. The new Bond film might have a change in style due to the artists the production is eyeing.

For over a decade, Roger Moore had the task of living up to everything that Sean Connery had put in place as 007. And while some will defend Moore forever, we can’t forget the clown costumes, slide whistles, gondola chases, and so much more that pushed James Bond into an uncharted level of ridiculousness. Perhaps all of this could have been prevented had Timothy Dalton not been so green, turning down On Her Majesty’s Secret Service because he was in his mid-20s. That’s all hypothetical, of course, but Timothy Dalton would go on to reinvent James Bond in a way that may not have sat with contemporary audiences but marked a true challenge for what it meant to carry the torch. Dalton played 007 just twice; and with that, we’d challenge you to name just as many worthwhile post-Bond movies from the underappreciated actor (who we’re...

Everyone has their favorite Bond, but it is hard to argue that Sean Connery is still, to this day, the definitive James Bond. Originating the role. Connery set the template for every future Bond to follow and either try and replicate or distance themselves from. 1962's Dr. No, in a white tux and cigarette in his mouth, when Connery said "the names Bond, James Bond," an icon was born.

The Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals, delved deeper into the lore of the first vampires, and sirelines came into sharper focus. Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, and Finn were the first vampires to ever exist, turned by Esther Mikaelson in 1001 Ad. The Originals had super strength, super speed, indestructible bodies (except by a White Oak Stake), compulsion powers, and a thirst for human blood. More importantly, the Original vampires could sire other vampires by feeding them their blood and killing them. These vampires then did the same with other humans, thus forming a sireline of vampires that would ultimately connect back to any one of the Originals.
In plain terms, every vampire that existed in The Vampire Diaries Universe existed because of any one of the Originals. Therefore, every Original had a sireline, which signified their connection to every progeny they had created with their blood and those vampires who were created indirectly by them also.

Good versus evil was a foundational theme of The Vampire Diaries throughout its eight seasons, even if many characters fell in a grey area. The Mystic Falls gang, which consisted of Elena, Damon, Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, and Matt, were always battling antagonists of some kind but ended up doing some questionable things themselves in their pursuit of victory and survival. Sometimes, these actions were even worse than what the Tvd villains did to them.
From genocidal actions in pursuit of the Cure to twisted family dynamics, every main character of The Vampire Diaries was guilty of doing something bad. Friends turned on friends, too, and lovers turned away through the course of the show, proving just how tenuous morality could be on a show like The Vampire Diaries.
