During one of the countless, often boneheaded interviews Sally Ride endured about her pioneering role in the United States space program, she schools a reporter on how to address her. “It’s Dr. Ride or Sally, but not Miss,” she says, flashing a smile that softened the lecture and much of director Cristina Costantini’s absorbing documentary the first American woman to go into space.

Throughout “Sally,” Costantini (“Science Fair”) leans into Ride’s face — the smile, the blue eyes, the moments of pensive regard — by closing in on archival images. Sometimes, she creates a palpable presence by linking footage with audio from interviews Ride gave during her lifetime.

OpenAI, the company behind the popular ChatGPT, is launching a test version of a search engine that will cite sources of information, including news from content business partners.

SearchGPT will summarize websites, including news sites, and let users ask follow-up questions, as they already do with ChatGPT.

It’s a direct challenge to Google, which also has tried to apply generative AI to its web search.

OpenAI says it plans to integrate SearchGPT into ChatGPT in the future. ChatGPT can already perform web searches using Bing, but SearchGPT will aim for AI-assisted web searching.

OpenAI has not said whether it’s partnering with an existing search engine provider (like it does currently with Bing for ChatGPT), or is building its own web-crawling and indexing system.

In the new SearchGPT announcement, OpenAI says, “Sites can be surfaced in search results even if they opt out of generative AI training.”

I'm not a fan of "Jurassic World." But I'm comfortable enough to know when I owe a movie an apology. And I owe Colin Trevorrow's 2015 resurrection of the beloved dinosaur franchise a big one.

You've probably seen the movie. Taking place years after the original "Jurassic Park" trilogy, the film is centered around a dinosaur theme park that went right. Cloned dinosaurs populate exhibits attended by countless tourists. There are rides, restaurants, and merchandise. Everything does go belly-up once the plot kicks into gear, but it's firmly established that this miraculous, impossible place has been doing just fine for quite some time. Long enough that people are, well, getting bored of it.

And this proved a sticking point for many critics and viewers alike when the film was initially released. Myself included. We just couldn't possibly imagine a world where dinosaurs were back and people were ... not excited about it.

Zendaya and her Dune costar Timothée Chalamet get along very well, which led to the actress asking Chalamet for advice for her upcoming movie, Challengers. Zendaya's new film has Luca Guadagnino at the helm, who previously directed Chalamet in 2017's Call Me By Your Name. and 2022's Bones and All.

At the premiere of her new film, Challengers, Zendaya confirmed that she talked about the film with her Dune co-star. Jay Starrett reached his first final in Season 39 of The Challenge thanks to a well-orchestrated alliance run chiefly by him and his ride-or-die Michele Fitzgerald.

However, his appearance in that first-ever final was short-lived, as he met his fate after the first phase of the event.

Picking the right Archetype is the first step to success in Remnant 2, and that can make all the difference in multiplayer. Eleven different character classes have been discovered so far, but some of them are just better balanced for single player than they are for co-op. Some are available to all players from the beginning, but other "secret" ones have to be unlocked via often lengthy, difficult in-game quests. Switching between them, though, is as easy as can be - all players have to do is pick the right Engram.

Remnant 2 is a procedurally generated Soulslike, but a well-balanced team can mitigate some of the chaos created by that particular combination. The point of co-op is to let a group of different classes balance out each other's strengths and weaknesses - but still, certain combinations just complement each other best, while others can be a liability to the rest of the team.

Mumbai, July 23 (Ians) India’s Sumit Nagal won his second Atp Challenger title of the year with a straight sets victory over fifth seed Dalibor Svrcina of the Czech Republic in the Tampere Open in Tampere, Finland, on Sunday.

Nagal, who is seeded seventh in the event, defeated the fifth-seeded Svrcina 6-4, 7-5 in the final. This was Sumit Nagal’s fourth Atp Challenger title overall.

On Sunday against Svrcina, Nagal went down an early break after losing serve in the second game as the Czech took a 3-0 lead. Following the voyage of the Titan sub that claimed five lives on June 18 when it imploded en route to Titanic’s wreckage in the North Atlantic, the sub’s developer and operator OceanGate Expeditions faced criticism from James Cameron, who contended in numerous interviews that the tragedy was preventable. He told ABC News on Thursday: “Many people in the community were concerned about this sub and even wrote letters to the company saying that what they were doing was too experimental and what they were doing needed to be certified.”

The mission was of particular national interest because a high school teacher named Christa McAulife was selected to become the first private citizen in space, leading to increased media attention and fanfare.

When the Challenger space shuttle exploded 73 seconds after its launch in January 1986, killing all seven crew members on board, Daniel Junge and Steven Leckart were school-aged kids watching it all happen on television. Now they are the directors of Netflix’s four-part “Challenger: The Final Flight” docuseries, and they hope the lessons learned from that tragic mission will resonate with American audiences amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“This was our Kennedy moment; this was our 9/11 moment,” Junge told TheWrap.

If America’s modern space age began in the 1960s, it hit a wall in 1986 with the Challenger disaster, when the U.S. space shuttle by that name exploded during takeoff, killing all seven crew members aboard. The element that took this from sorrowful and tragic error to generation-defining news event was the presence onboard of Christa McAuliffe, a civilian schoolteacher specifically chosen for the mission in order to catalyze student interest in America’s quest for the stars. Those students drawn to watching the launch by the promise of a relatable figure to take them along were confronted with live-television tragedy when O-ring seals failed in unusually cold weather; space exploration may have continued, but some innocence or optimism was lost.

The case made by “Challenger: The Final Flight,” a new four-episode documentary series on Netflix produced by J.J. Abrams and Glen Zipper, is that this didn’t need to happen.
