Unfortunately Trapper County War is just a bit too middle of the road.

Crappy County War

This is probably among the worst movies ever made...... I saw it with a friend and I could not stop laughing, not because the movie was amusing, It was pathetic !!!! Mrs Russell & Mr Swayze are among the less talented actors in Hollywood (witch is an achievement in itself) :)

How come this movie was ever produced is a mystery to me...

But here is the plot: "If you have some problems with hillbillies & inbreeds... shoot them with a bazoka :)

I'm only sorry I could not give a lower grade than 1 !!

Suprising gem filmed 45 mins from my hometown of burnsville nc

Very entertaining film that I discovered on Amazon prime recently. I happened to watch the trailer and immediately realized it looked like my hometown area, then saw an exit sign for Asheville NC in the trailer, enjoyed throughly.

Sometimes the best surprise is no surprise ........

Very entertaining Southern rednecks vs. city boys in the backwoods of Trapper County. The cast, Robert Estes, Betsy Russell, Bo Hopkins, and Don Swaze among others are convincing, and the Luddigger family of hicks solidly stereotyped with their pickups and hound dogs. What you get is a hunted in the woods film that is easily on a par with recommended similar films like "Hunter's Blood". The rocky countryside is used to full advantage, making the colorful characters even more believable. Sure "Trapper County War" doesn't break any new ground, but it is solid entertainment, and should be sought out by anyone who likes mountain pursuit movies. Sometimes the best surprise is no surprise.

I enjoyed the movie

I could relate to some of the characters in this movie, which may be a bit scary to some out there, but I live in the Ozarks and some of the characters in this movie were real to me. It had some good action and the corruption in this small town may have been a bit exaggerated for the movie effect, but not so far from fact as you may think if you never have lived or known people in the hills and real small towns where one or just a few families can run a town. I related this movie to a bit of Deliverance and First Blood in plot and action.

Avoid those off-the-highway detours.

This movie was a very well made and enjoyable little film. The old story about crazed backwoods creeps is well played here. The heros inadvertantly drive in to trouble in a small Southern town. The hillbilly loons are well played and resist the over-the-top performances. In an early role, Rob Estes is terrific as Ryan, the city boy who joins forces with a Vietnam vet to save a young lady from the "hillbillies". These "hillbillies" will never make it to Beverly Hills. I really enjoyed this film....very entertaining.

Depends on tastes.

I rated this movie as a 7 because like the last reviewer, this movie made me and my friends laugh so hard we all got dizzy. The plot is poor at best, and the film quality also is lacking. However as long as you rent this movie and view it as a comedy, then you will not be disappointed. Non-stop laughs await!

I do admit thought the movie starts slowly, but it really picks up towards the end. Another plus is if you have a "Family Video" outlet, or similar franchise, you can rent this movie for about .25-.50 cents for 5 nights! (plus on some holidays, movies are free!) So as long as you can find a copy for under $5, its definitely worth the price.
