Amitabh Bachchan and Meenakshi Sheshadri in Toofan (1989)

Trivia

Toofan

Edit
Amrita Singh does not have a character name.
Rajiv Kapoor was in the news when he showed up at the Toofan premiere very drunk, dressed shabbily and with heavy stubble. When Randhir Kapoor was asked about this, he mentioned that the media does not say anything about Anil Kapoor always sporting stubble because he is a big and successful star.
Despite using nine storm fans for the storm effects, Ketan Desai could not get the desired effect. So, he hired 200 locals and made them climb the trees and shake them.
"Aaya Toofan" (title song) was the last song Kishore Kumar sung for an Amitabh Bachchan movie before he died.
The original costume for Toofan was much different. When the film was launched, Amitabh's Toofan character wore white boots and and fancy jackets. Instead of a arrow he was holding a machine gun. They changed the character of Toofan to use a bow and arrow (baan dhanush). Black saffron pants was then used. This was due to the popularity of Ramayan on TV. The look of Toofan was changed to be a desi Robin Hood.
