Avengers Face A Shocking New 'A.I. Art' Scandal, As Marvel Takes A Controversial Risk
Image
Warning! This article contains spoilers for Marvel Swimsuit Special #1.

Marvel Comics has joined the hotly debated anxieties surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) in a surprisingly meta fashion. A preview for the upcoming Marvel Swimsuit Special #1 hints at a storyline that thrusts the Avengers, particularly Captain America, into the heart of an AI-generated art scandal, mirroring real-world concerns about AI's ethical implications and its potential impact on creative industries.

Marvel Swimsuit Special #1, by the creative team of Tim Seeley, Tony Fleecs, Nick Bradshaw, and Rachelle Rosenberg, is set to explore this contentious topic. The preview shows Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Janet Van Dyne, Jennifer Walters, and Natasha Romanoff taking the lead in voicing their disgust with the oil company, Roxxon, using their likenesses for the cover of a swimsuit issue.

Steve Rogers is rightfully the most offended of them all and the first to point out that the use of his image,...

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Bethenny Frankel is calling out Joy Behar.

After Bethenny’s thong swimsuit runway went viral, she spoke to followers about the realities of how much prep comes before a show like that.

The panelists of The View are very familiar with how speculation about appearances impacts famous people — particularly women.

But that did not stop Joy from accusing Bethenny of having “fake” boobs. Now, Bethenny is responding.

On a June 2025 episode of ‘The View,’ co-host Joy Behar speculated about Bethenny Frankel’s surgical history. (Image Credit: ABC) What did Joy Behar say about Bethenny Frankel?

Following Bethenny Frankel’s thong swimsuit runway show for Sports Illustrated, the panelists of The View weighed in.

Ostensibly, the topic was celebrity privacy.

Which questions can the public, and interviewers, reasonably ask about their bodies, their beauty treatments, and more?

That is a nuanced topic. And, during the discussion, the panelists...

Marvel Comics Revives Controversial Swimsuit Special 30 Years After Cancellation; First Artwork Released
Image
Three decades after being shelved by Marvel Comics, the Marvel Swimsuit Special is returning for modern audiences to tie in with a new Marvel Rivals Summer update.

A parody of Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Special, the Marvel Swimsuit Special was cancelled back in the mid-90s in the midst of continued criticism for its objectification of characters (though we don't know for certain that this is why the concept was scrapped).

The new comic book will release in July after a “long-demanded return” to tie in with Marvel Rivals, and will feature designs for new costumes coming to the game. Players will be able to purchase new swimsuit skins for popular heroes, such as Storm, Scarlet Witch, The Incredible Hulk and more.

This new take in the Swimsuit Special will also have a story, "so you can pretend you’re reading it for the articles."

Nosferatu Director Thanks SpongeBob SquarePants for Introducing the Iconic Vampire to Children
Image
Nosferatu's first SpongeBob SquarePants cameo was comic relief to a creepy episode. The iconic vampire has since reappeared across multiple seasons, cementing his place in the show's canon.

Nosferatu is well-acquainted with SpongeBob SquarePants fans; Count Orlok has frequently visited Bikini Bottom since his Season 2 appearance. The show ventured into quirky dark humor in "Graveyard Shift", but audiences were likely startled by the vampire's sudden presence. His first cameo was played for laughs, but his black-and-white presence contrasted with that scene's cartoon saturation. The jarring experience was so memorable that the show made him a recurring character like Mary, Barnacle Boy, and Mermaid Man. In an interview with THR, director Robert Eggers acknowledged how SpongeBob SquarePants revived Nosferatu as a pop culture icon.

How SpongeBob SquarePants Characters Are Connected To The Seven Deadly Sins Explained By Writer
Image
Mr. Lawrence and other SpongeBob SquarePants cast members explain how characters are connected to the Seven Deadly Sins. The animated Nickelodeon series, following the humorous escapades of SpongeBob and other Bikini Bottom residents, has spawned many fan theories over the years. Among them is speculation that each character represents one of the major sins taught in Christianity: SpongeBob himself is lust, Patrick is sloth, Squidward is wrath, Sandy is pride, Mr. Krabs is greed, Plankton is envy, and Gary the Snail is gluttony.

During a reunion video for Esquire, the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants addressed this theory, among others, with Squidward’s actor Rodger Bumpass noting similarities between Patrick and Mr. Krabs and their sins, but no one else. Lawrence, a writer who also voices Plankton, explained that while characters likely have individual distinctions, it may not be as concrete as pairing them with one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Producers Look Back on 25 Years of the Beloved Cartoon
Image
This article is presented by

Q: Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? A: We all have for the last 25 years! That’s 25 years of supremely silly subaquatic surrealism that we, as a crew, and you, as our amazing audience, have been submerged in together. Twenty-five glorious years since Nickelodeon first introduced the world to Stephen Hillenburg’s quirky cast of characters that he discovered in a town deep on the ocean floor called Bikini Bottom. More specifically, one humble little goofball we all know (and love), Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants.

We’ve been so lucky to be part of a crew that has grown and morphed over the years in surprising ways. There are talented folks who have been with us since the very beginning and new members who grew up loving the show that they are now helping create. This is the secret formula to the show’s success.

Bikini Kill Make TV Debut with Scorching Performance of “Rebel Girl” on Colbert: Watch
Image
Riot grrrl icons Bikini Kill made their long-awaited television debut on Monday night, performing “Rebel Girl” on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Fittingly, the band’s booking coincided with the first night of the 2024 Republican Nation Convention and came just hours after Donald Trump selected J.D. Vance as his running mate. Among his views on women issues, Vance supports a national abortion ban without restrictions, previously voted to block protections against IVF, and suggested women should stay in violent and abusive marriages for the sake of their children. With that pretext, Bikini Kill’s performance of “Rebel Girl” carried an extra level of oomph.

Here’s Why ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Doesn’t Make Too Many Topical Jokes
Image
The day some landlubber drops their iPhone in the ocean for it to float down to Bikini Bottom will be a darker one than when the Hash-Slinging Slasher came to town.

SpongeBob SquarePants turned 25 years old this past May. During his quarter-century at the forefront of Nickelodeon programming, Tom Kenny’s beloved, boxy and endlessly upbeat fry cook has remained largely unchanged, with the exception of a brief animation “glow-up” that left the redesigned hero looking a little too much like a SpongeBob plush doll than SpongeBob himself.

Though most of the fans who fell in love with SpongeBob SquarePants during its first few seasons on television probably aren’t religiously keeping up with the show through the modern day — much like how we don’t eat Totino’s Pizza Rolls as often or own as many Tech Deks as we did back then — the Og fans will be relieved...

The May 17 release of the 2024 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue celebrates the swimsuit franchise’s 60th anniversary. A new documentary highlights the woman who founded the issue in 1964 – Jule Campbell.

Directed by Campbell’s daughter-in-law Jill Campbell, “Beyond the Gaze: Jule Campbell’s Swimsuit Issue” explores how the editor, who died in 2022, broke glass ceilings, navigated a sexist workplace and battled accusations of objectification, all while launching the careers of mogul models including Kathy Ireland, Christie Brinkley and Tyra Banks.

The 107 minute film, produced by Eue Documentaries and Red Barn Productions, recently wrapped production. The director is currently submitting the doc for consideration at various fall film festivals.

During her 32-year tenure as founding editor of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Campbell was charged with the task of creating a yearly swimsuit issue that did not come across as gratuitous. The docu investigates how she managed to control the photographs that...
