Elliott Spiers in Paperhouse (1988)

Trivia

Paperhouse

Edit
When it was decided two days before the film was theatrically released that the character of Kate should be British, American actress Glenne Headly had to very quickly dub all of her dialogue using an English accent.
Despite playing the lead character in this film, Charlotte Burke never appeared in any film ever again.
Elliott Spiers, who played the role of Marc, unfortunately died shortly after the production of Paperhouse. Paperhouse and another film he starred in, Taxandria (1994), were dedicated to his memory.
A then 13 year old Charlotte Burke was chosen out of 1500 girls who auditioned for this film to play 11 year old Anna Madden, and made her film debut. However, after this film, she never acted in anything else ever again. Director Bernard Rose recalled in an interview years later that she telephoned him unexpectedly for a chat, and she said how she'd seen Paperhouse again recently and really liked it and was proud of it. He asked her why she never did any further acting. She told him she really loved Paperhouse so much, that she never wanted to do anything else and was done with acting.
Stanley Myers receives a composer credit though his score was rejected by the producers for not having enough edge. Hans Zimmer was working as Myers' assistant at the time and insisted that he could properly score the movie in time for its release. Within a couple of years Zimmer would become one of the most sought-after composers in Hollywood and his popularity continues to this day.
