Reader, you have been lied to! Film history is littered with unfairly maligned classics, whether critics were too eager to review the making of rather than the finished product, or they suffered from underwhelming ad campaigns or general disinterest. Let’s revise our takes on some of these films from wrongheaded to the correct opinion.
When “Madhouse,” a comedy about a happily married couple besieged by out of control house guests, was released in early 1990, it met with immediate hostility from critics. How hostile were they? So hostile that “Madhouse” is currently in the select group of movies sitting uncomfortably at 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, not a single positive review to its name.
The irony is that not only is “Madhouse” not bad, it’s great. And not only great, but all-time great, a comedy so flawless in its construction and so precise in its timing that it ranks alongside the best work of Howard Hawks,...

In a droll season of self-important crime thrillers and soporific family fiestas Dupahiya, now streaming on Amazon, is a blessing. And not even in disguise. There is not a single moment of artifice in the entire length and breadth of the series. It is normal to skip portions of lengthy serials; time, after all, is valuable. If you miss any chunk of this peachy fable of a bride, a wedding, and missing mo’bike, you will do so at your own risk.
Firstly, my compliments to the chef and the writers Avinash Dwivedi, Chirag Garg, Salona Bains Joshi, and Shubh Shivdasani for a screenplay that simply rocks. For those of us who believe that too many cooks spoil the broth, here is proof to the contrary. Crackling hissing writing is so original and game-changing that I thought I would never get to see it on the Indian Ott platform.

Travis and Sosie Bacon are about to be one degree of separation away from their father.
Spouses Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are set to direct themselves and their children in a horror comedy for Dark Castle Entertainment that’s being shopped to buyers at the American Film Market event, according to Variety.
The film, accurately and amusingly titled “Family Movie,” is about a family of horror filmmakers whose latest low-budget project spirals out of control when a dead body is discovered on set. But the show must go on, and the only way to save the movie is to cover up the murder and keep going, by any means necessary. “Premature” writer-director Dan Beers wrote the script, and the Bacons are producing along with Dark Castle’s Norman Golightly.
“There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons,” Golightly said in a statement to Variety. “We...

Summer House has been on Bravo for many seasons, and it perfectly represents what it's like to have an excellent work-life balance in corporate America. Viewers of the reality series have grown to love central cast member Kyle Cooke's growth from your typical f-boy to now owning "Loverboy," a seltzer brand, with his wife, Amanda Batula, and his best friend, Carl Radke. Besides them, the main cast revolves around Lindsay Hubbard, Paige DeSorbo, Ciara Miller, and Danielle Olivera. They have been able to withstand many changes season after season, but they have always been able to come back to the show since they have been fan favorites for years. One of the main issues with the show has been the newbies they have brought in; they have not been able to get along with the cast, or they don't even mix with them, and they end up being the odd ones out.

Mariah Carey is famous for topping the charts. In fact, she holds the record for the most number-one hits by a solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100 (19), and she became the first artist ever to hit number-one in four different decades. But of course no one can send every song they’ve recorded to the top of the charts. A number of Carey’s greatest hits didn’t reach the summit, but they belong in any discussion of her storied career. Scroll down for our countdown of her best non-chart-toppers.
Early in her career it was hard to find Carey singles anywhere but number-one. The first four from her very first album reached that position. The 1990s continued at that same pace: a whopping 14 of her chart leaders were released in that decade. The 2000s were less auspicious for her: she had career and tabloid trouble when her movie “Glitter” and its accompanying soundtrack underperformed.

However, by season 2, she was no longer with Jason and instead was dating her costar Carl Radke, who wasn't on Winter House season 1. The two made a brief appearance on the show's second season, where the cast accused Lindsay of cheating on Carl with Austen Kroll after Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke's September 2021 wedding.
Fans think the second season of Winter House, with new star Rachel Clark, is where the issues began.

Riley Keough sat out of a recent promotional event. Following Lisa Marie Presley‘s death, and amid a battle over her trust with Priscilla Presley, the 33-year-old actress opted not to attend an event for her upcoming show, “Daisy Jones & the Six”.
Riley herself revealed that she wasn’t at the London gathering by sharing pics of her co-stars’ night out on her Instagram Story. One post was from Camila Morrone, and featured the model posing alongside Suki Waterhouse.
“Karen & Camila take London,” Camila captioned the post, referencing her and Suki’s characters in the upcoming Prime Video series.
Riley shared the post on her Instagram Story and referenced her own character, writing, “Meanwhile, Daisy has Fomo.”

Patrick Dempsey is in talks with Spyglass to star in “Thanksgiving,” multiple media outlets have reported.
Yes, that’s Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving,” a violent slasher film based on the fake trailer from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double feature “Grindhouse” from 16 years ago.
Chatter has existed about turning the jokey trailer into an actual movie, with Roth having written a screenplay over a dozen years ago. Fantasy became fact when Spyglass stepped in late last year to finance the picture, with shooting to begin in Toronto next month.
While plot details are mostly concealed, it is believed that Dempsey would play a small-town sheriff in Massachusetts who must fend off a holiday-specific murder spree.

Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard made their reality TV debut on the first season of Bravo's Summer House in 2017, and their relationship has changed a lot since. During Summer House season 1, these two were strictly friends, as Lindsay was in a relationship with then-co-star Everett Weston, and Carl, a self-proclaimed playboy, was pursuing then-co-star Lauren Wirkus. Seven seasons later, the Summer House trailer confirms that Carl proposed to Lindsay in August 2022 after less than a year of dating.
Summer House's Carl and Lindsay were platonic friends for the first three seasons of the Bravo series. Lindsay continued her tumultuous relationship with Everett and dated several other men. Meanwhile, Carl dated different co-stars, from Lauren Wirkus to Paige DeSorbo, but no relationship seemed to stick for the bachelor. By Summer House season 3, Carl and Lindsay deemed each other mutual best friends, and their chemistry was apparent, but nothing romantic seemed...

Amid Lindsay Hubbard's Summer House fallout with Danielle Olivera, she and Carl Radke are subtly hinting at Danielle's breakup with Robert Sieber. Summer House season 7 will show fans the buildup to Lindsay and Danielle's unexpected feud. The two have been best friends since the Bravo show's inception. But since Lindsay and Carl decided to give their romance another try and fell madly in love, their relationship has seemingly gotten in the way of their friendships in the house.
Amid the major shift in friendship dynamics on Summer House, Lindsay and Carl aren't holding back when speaking about Danielle behind her back. The happy couple recently sat down for an interview, where they subtly let the cat out of the bag that Danielle split from her boyfriend, Summer House's Robert Sieber. “Danielle’s been in a relationship with Robert [Sieber]—I don’t know if it’s still currently going or not.

The Summer House season 7 premiere didn't win fans over as they feel it was forced. This season, Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard are officially together, and according to the trailer, this causes some issues in the house. Kyle Cooke believes Carl's new relationship is distracting him from their company Loverboy and Danielle Olivera isn't so sure about Lindsay and Carl's engagement that happens later in the season. During the premiere, the cast returned to the Hamptons house with a few new guests, and Mya Allen expressed hurt over Carl cutting her off because of an argument she had with Lindsay.
The Summer House season 7 premiere kicked off with some drama, but fans don't think it was authentic.

All is well between Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke after their rocky relationship last summer, which will air on Summer House season 7. The two have been close friends for years, and fans have gotten to watch their friendship grow stronger on the Bravo reality series. After getting laid off from his job, Carl was in a dark place, but when he joined the Loverboy team as the VP of sales, he finally had a job he was passionate about. Unfortunately, it's not always easy working with the people you love. Amanda Batula knows this all too well, as working with her husband, Kyle, on Loverboy often puts a strain on their relationship.
This season, aside from welcoming new Summer House cast members like Samantha Feher, Kyle and Carl's relationship faces some obstacles. Luckily, Kyle told Page Six that he and his best friend were able to move past the issues,...

Loverboy has Kyle Cooke Loverbroke. The Summer House star admitted as much during the April 18 episode, telling his roommates, "I'm in a lawsuit. I've spent 200,000 on legal fees this month. I'm 4 million in debt with the loan for my business. Everything is on the line." And when the Loverboy beverage-brand owner says "everything," he means it, because he and Amanda Batula are mere weeks away from their wedding. To make matters worse, their florist just dropped out. Fans were hit with a "To be continued..." before they could get any more details, but thankfully, Bravo Insider dropped a sneak peek of the April 25 episode, which picks up at the disastrous...

Most people, cinephiles or not, know Carol Kane as Valerie, bossy wife to Billy Crystal’s Miracle Max in “The Princess Bride.” Her face may have been tough to recognize under all that old age make-up, but her distinctive warble is unmistakable, causing new generations to fall in love with her as Kimmy’s eccentric landlady Lillian in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
But Kane wasn’t always the incomparable character actress we know and love today, and younger audiences may be surprised to learn that her early career included some more dramatic turns, most notably in her Oscar-nominated performance in Joan Micklin Silver’s 1975 masterpiece “Hester Street,” which is receiving renewed interest with a gorgeous 4k restoration from the Cohen Film Collection.
In “Hester Street,” the young Kane plays a Jewish immigrant who arrives in New York to find her husband (Steven Keats) already happily assimilated into American life. She has...

Corey Feldman has been dropping some breadcrumbs lately. Last week Feldman took to his Instagram to post a mysterious photo wearing an iconic jacket, striking a familiar pose and announcing that a surprise was coming.
Corey Feldman and Micky Thomas of the band Starship, reunited for a special photo shoot thirty years after they appeared on screen together in Dream a Little Dream, the cult classic starring the two Corey's and helmed by legendary director Marc Rocco, who went on to make films such as Murder in the First and The Jacket. Tragically, Marc Rocco and Corey Haim passed away the same year and ironically, the tenth anniversary of their deaths is a few short months away.
Marc Rocco's widow Lisa Rocco honored his work and his memory by directing this special 30th Anniversary photo shoot, which was shot by photographer Maggie St Thomas, who often works with Feldman on his album covers.

A leading figure of the Romanian New Wave, Cătălin Mitulescu has had a heralded career since winning the Palme d’Or for his 2004 short film “Traffic.” His first two features, “The Way I Spent the End of the World” (2006) and “Loverboy” (2011), both premiered in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard sidebar. He also co-produced and co-wrote the 2010 Berlin Silver Bear winner “If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle,” directed by Florin Șerban.
Mitulescu’s fourth feature, “Heidi,” had its world premiere this week at the Sarajevo Film Festival. The film centers on an aging policeman on the verge of retirement tasked with finding two prostitutes who are willing to testify in an organizing crime trial. But finding them proves to be easier than convincing them to take the witness stand. Produced by Mitulescu for Bucharest-based Strada Film, “Heidi” stars veteran actor Gheorghe Visu alongside newcomer Cătălina Mihai.

The Nora Ephron-directed romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle turns 25 today. For Gary Foster, who first read the cross-country romantic comedy as a Jeff Arch spec script and fought for three years to keep its vision intact in the usual creative collisions of star-driven studio films, here provides an illuminating look at how a good spec evolved into a terrific movie.
On a hot Saturday afternoon in 1990, I sat down on a small couch in our baby daughter Kayla’s room to read a script entitled Sleepless in Seattle. Dave Warden, an agent representing a new writer named Jeff Arch, had submitted it to my company. I give most submissions 25 pages, and if I’m not in by that point, I put it down and pick up the next. That afternoon, I never noticed the 25-page mark. I zoomed right past it, drawn into this story about a widower, who...

Fans of “The Room” and “Hamilton” unite! Lin-Manuel Miranda has announced that he will be adapting Tommy Wiseau’s infamous film for Broadway.

The songwriter posted a fake announcement of the news to his Twitter account Sunday in honor of April Fool’s Day.

Patrick Dempsey has been in the spotlight for more than 30 years now, but we still can't get over how handsome he is. The 50-year-old actor first stole hearts with his roles in movies like Can't Buy Me Love, Mobsters, and Loverboy, but it wasn't until he became Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy that our hearts really started pumping. Aside from his impressive acting career, Patrick is a devoted family man; he's been married to his wife, Jillian Fink, since 1999 (they briefly split last year), and is father to kids Talula, Sullivan, and Darby. Cheers to many more years of being able to stare into those McDreamy eyes!

Patrick Dempsey made a few waves at the Television Critics Association Summer 2013 press tour, talking about acting on "Grey's Anatomy" ("I'm an actor so that's my profession, my job") versus his real passion: racing cars ("I'm grateful I have the gig, but it's not the same as being in a race car"). But hear him out.
Dempsey is continuing a tradition of Hollywood leading men with a need for speed, from Steve McQueen to James Garner to Paul Newman. But he makes more headlines for his chosen second career because of the expense and competitiveness of the sport now, and his very high-profile other career on one of ABC's longest-running hit shows.
I caught up with Dempsey after his choice words during the panel to find out if he had any backpeddling to do, and to let him clarify exactly how much he appreciates the "Grey's" fans ... especially since, again,...

While the concept of the glamorous female escort is ever present in popular culture, the image of her male counterpart - a male escort who caters to women - has been pretty much nonexistent until recent years.
With the exception of the Richard Gere smash American Gigolo, one would be hard pressed to name a single film that deals with the subject of men who provide services of romance and companionship to women; unless it takes the form of some random comedy films--Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Wedding Date, and Loverboy with Patrick Dempsey--or underground indie flicks such as Atom Egoyan's Speaking Parts, Just a Gigolo with David Bowie and The Man from Elysian Fields with Andy Garcia.

Director: Garry Marshall

Story:
A super hot/super bitchy heiress dumps workin’ man Dean Proffitt off her boat after he does a job that doesn’t meet her satisfaction. Later that night, she falls off the boat herself and suffers from amnesia. Her husband basically says “Fuck it! Party time!” and leaves her at the hospital. So, Dean develops a plan of revenge by convincing her that she’s his wife.
Review:
I wanna start off here by saying I am greatly appreciative to be given the privilege of bringing the sappiness to The Liberal Dead‘s Kurt Russell Appreciation Week. I jumped on this boat pretty late in the game, and Shawn Savage forewarned me as soon as he handed out the invitation that most of Russell’s iconic roles had already been taken.

Before he was McDreamy, Patrick Dempsey was a teen idol famous for "Can't Buy Me Love." That film is great and all, but it was his "Love" follow-up, titled "Loverboy," that really put Dempsey on the map -- at least for people like me, who watched the completely inappropriate sex comedy on HBO when they were kids. (Sorry, mom!)
"Loverboy" comes to mind while watching the new trailer for "Bel Ami," the Robert Pattinson-led adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's novel about a fallen solider who becomes a lady killer in France during the 19th century. Sexy times! Unfortunately, because it's 19th century Paris and not 1980s California, pizza delivery companies don't exist -- that means lovely ladies like Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristen Scott Thomas have to take a more traditional approach in their attempts to bed R-Pattz. No extra anchovies in this one.
As you'll see in the trailer,...
