Police officers and martial arts movies make a thrilling combination, as the intersection between crime and law has led to some of the most exciting fighting films of all time. While Jackie Chans Police Story may stand as the definitive martial arts cop movie, plenty of other incredible showcases of technical skill, expert choreography, and bafflingly impressive action sequences have utilized cops within their central narrative. From major stars like Donnie Yen to the Girls with Guns stylings of Cynthia Rothrock and Michelle Yeoh, theres no shortage of amazing martial arts cop movies.

Many of the greatest kung fu films of all time have focused on policing, as ongoing investigations commonly serve as the basis for intense, action-packed narratives. Eureka Entertainment have announced the UK release of In The Line of Duty III and In The Line of Duty IV, the third and fourth instalments in the action film series. Both titles will be presented in individual releases as part of the Eureka Classics range in their UK debuts on Blu-ray. Available from 20 March 2023, the first print-run of 2000 copies of each title will feature a Limited-Edition O-card Slipcase and Collector’s Booklet.

Free Fire might be his most accessible movie yet, consisting a single location and pretty much just one long action sequence. It’s basically a 90-minute third act without the first two acts getting in the way. Also it features Oscar winner Brie Larson, and who doesn’t like watching her act?

Police Story might just be the greatest action franchise of all time. But which movies are the best in the series?

After his disappointing experience in America filming The Protector, Jackie Chan returned to Hong Kong determined to make his own cop film his own way. The result - Police Story - kickstarted perhaps the greatest action franchise of all time; a series of films that still deliver thrills of a near-religious magnitude for genre fans.

Aside from the two reboots, the Police Stories revolve around Jackie's maverick Hong Kong cop Ka-Kui Chan (or Kevin Chan, in the English dubs) with frequent appearances from his lovably inept superior 'Uncle Bill' (Bill Tung) and his long-suffering girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung). The story continuity is a little ropey but instead each instalment offers a new, and usually more improbable, case for Ka-Kui to crack.

Shannon Day has joined the cast of the upcoming mystery-thriller The Dark Place. Actor-singer-model Day will play regal wine estate owner Celeste Dark, mother of main character Keegan Dark (Blaise Embry). Day has starred in many art-house films, found a place in television series and movies, and was known to genre fans as well as a series regular on ABC’s 1990′s reboot of Land of The Lost.

In light of this event, we’ve decided to look at some of superheroes who are out, proud and feel no shame in how they live their lives — and who’d be most affected by legislation like Proposition 8.

Northstar: Introduced in 1979, Jean-Paul Beaubier was a mutant born with incredible resistance to injury, the ability to manipulate light, and able to fly several times the speed of sound. Originally a terrorist, he realized the error of his ways and became the Canadian superhero Northstar, serving with the teams Alpha Flight and even the X-Men for a while.

Though hints were made about his personal life, censorship in comics at the time made it near-impossible to make anything overt.

It’s Memorial Day here in the U.S., and that means remembering those who have fought and fallen for the country. With that in mind, we thought it would be worth putting the spotlight on five patriotic superheroes who have died in the line of duty.

Captain America: Steve Rogers was not the first patriotic-themed hero but he was the one who stood above all the rest. A kid from Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Steve volunteered for “Operation: Rebirth” in the 1940s and was transformed into a super-soldier. Circumstances led him to be placed in suspended animation in 1945 and he did not awake again until decades later, becoming a “man of time” but determined to still fight for the ideals he believed America stood for (even if he no longer trusted the government itself).
