Chi Lewis-Parry of 28 Years Later has a role in The Running Man, wants to play a Predator
Chi Lewis-Parry
Movie-goers who went to see 28 Years Later over this past weekend were introduced to an “alpha” infected / zombie character called Samson, who was played by 6-foot-8-inch actor and former Mma fighter Chi Lewis-Parry – and were also treated to the sight of Samson tearing off a human head with the spine still attached. During an interview with Variety, Lewis-Parry revealed that he has a role in the upcoming remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie The Running Man, and that one of his career goals is to join another franchise that got started with a Schwarzenegger movie, as he wants to play a Predator.

The Running Man is based on a novel that was written by Stephen King under his Richard Bachman pen name. King’s novel has the following description: It was the ultimate death game in a nightmare future America. The year is 2025 and reality TV has grown to...

Edgar Wright at an event for Scott Pilgrim (2010)
Arnold Schwarzenegger hopes the Running Man remake will be better than the original
Edgar Wright at an event for Scott Pilgrim (2010)
Four years have gone by since it was announced that Edgar Wright was coming on board to direct a new take on the novel The Running Man, which was written by Stephen King under his Richard Bachman pen name. The Running Man was, of course, previously turned into a film back in 1987 that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and had little to do with the source material. Last year, Wright’s take on the material began filming with Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, and Twisters in the lead role. Production wrapped in the early months of this year, with the movie aiming for a November 7th theatrical release. While we wait to see how this new movie has turned out, Schwarzenegger has said in an interview that he’s hoping the remake will be better than the original.

King’s novel has the following description: It was the ultimate...

‘King Of The Hill’ Casts Toby Huss As Voice Of Dale Gribble
Image
Toby Huss has been tapped to voice the conspiracy-minded Dale Gribble in King of the Hill‘s upcoming Season 14 revival.

He takes over the role voiced by the late Johnny Hardwick, who portrayed the character in the show’s original 13-year run, appearing in 257 of 258 episodes. Hardwick died in 2023. Due to the long lead time on animated shows, he had completed six episodes before he passed, and will be credited as a series regular on those episodes until they have aired and Huss takes over the role. Hardwick had been with the Emmy-winning animated series since its debut in 1997 through its final episode on Fox in 2010. He also served as a writer and a story editor during his run on the show.

The show notes Dale Gribble is an unsuccessful exterminator and massive conspiracy theorist who is one of Hank Hill’s long-time friends. In the revival, he remains an...

King of the Hill Reboot Recasts Dale With Fan Favorite Series Star
Image
The King of the Hill sequel series has just received another update. Just a few hours after the show unveiled a new opening sequence and release date, the show gets a new show.

The new sequel series will have a new actor voicing Dale Gribble. After the late actor Johnny Hardwick passed away in 2023, the show recast Dale's character with a fan-favorite actor from the series. Per Variety, voice actor Toby Huss will take over the role of the unsuccessful exterminator and conspiracy theorist Dale Gribble in the upcoming King of the Hill Season 14.

The voice actor has been around as different characters in the show's original run. Huss voiced Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill, as well as other characters, in over 160 episodes.

Hardwick had voiced the character for the show's original run between 1997 and 2009. He also had recorded six episodes for the upcoming revival series before he passed away.

He physically recovered, but after nearly a decade, the incident and the whirlwind experience of enduring the early years of 5Sos are still stirring up new contemplations. Sam Reid is giving one of the best performances on TV right now as Lestat de Lioncourt on Interview with the Vampire, with his work on the series having already earned him a Critics Choice Award nomination. Lee Pace Joins Glen Powell as Villain in Edgar Wright’s ‘The Running Man’ (Exclusive)
Image
Lee Pace, who memorably played the villain Ronan in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, is back in bad guy mode.

The actor has closed a deal to join Glen Powell, Josh Brolin and Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) in The Running Man, Paramount’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel.

Edgar Wright is directing the feature and co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall. Production is due to shoot in London at the top of next year.

King’s Running Man, published in 1982 and written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, was set in 2025 in an America under a totalitarian regime that uses violent game shows to placate the disenfranchised masses.

The novel centered on one desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants. The longer a contestant survives, the more money that person makes.

The Talamasca: Elizabeth McGovern cast in AMC’s third Anne Rice series
Image
When I hear the name Elizabeth McGovern, I immediately think of ’80s projects she worked on like Ordinary People, Racing with the Moon, Once Upon a Time in America, The Bedroom Window, and, most of all, She’s Having a Baby. Which probably gives away the fact that I have never watched Downton Abbey. McGovern has continued working steadily over the decades since the ’80s movies I mentioned, and these days is likely best known for playing the role of Cora Crawley on Downton Abbey and then reprising that role in two feature films. Next up: Variety reports that McGovern has signed on to join the cast of Anne Rice’s The Talamasca.

About a year and a half ago, we heard that AMC was developing a third TV series based on the works of Anne Rice, adding to the franchise they’ve been building out of the Vampire Chronicles...

Speak No Evil Was Right To Completely Change The Original Ending
Image
Although 2024's Speak No Evil is a remake, it makes sense that the horror movie changed the original ending. Speak No Evil stars James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis, serving as a direct remake of the 2022 Danish movie of the same name. It tells the story of an American couple who become friends with a British family while on vacation. Later, they decide to spend a week at the British family's remote house in the country, and they soon discover the couple's true nature.

2024's Speak No Evil is unique because it's a remake that is coming only two years after the original was released. Typically, one would expect a remake to happen many years after the original, like how 2017's It came 27 years after the first movie adaptation. However, Speak No Evil wasted no time in being developed and released, leaving audiences to compare and contrast the 2022 version and the 2024 version.

Scoot McNairy & Mackenzie Davis First Teamed Up in This Underrated AMC Drama
Image
The new movie Speak No Evil follows a married couple played by Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy whose visit to the British countryside takes a nightmarish turn. Years ago, Davis and McNairy co-starred on Halt and Catch Fire, AMCs most underrated show. While this drama about software engineers in the early years of the Internet is very different from Speak No Evil, both projects play with the relationship dynamics between four characters. Halt and Catch Fires biggest strength was the rich, constantly evolving relationships between the core characters.

‘Speak No Evil’ Filmmaker James Watkins Says His 2008 Debut Was a Reference for the 2022 Danish Film He’s Now Remade
Image
James Watkins’ Speak No Evil will make you reconsider house-guesting in the same way that the English filmmaker’s directorial debut, Eden Lake, did with camping in 2008.

In Eden Lake, Kelly Reilly and Michael Fassbender’s characters are on the verge of their engagement during a weekend camping trip in the English countryside, but their plans for a romantic experience quickly fall apart when a dastardly gang of local teenagers disrupts their jaunt to a point that becomes deadly. Ultimately, Watkins’ film ends in a memorably chilling way that is polar opposite from your stereotypical Hollywood ending.

14 years later, Watkins, on behalf of Blumhouse, set out to reimagine the Danish psychological horror-thriller Speak No Evil (2022), which also puts a couple through the wringer during a vacation getaway with their young child. And similar to Eden Lake, Christian Tafdrup’s Speak No Evil ends in oppressively haunting fashion. So, when Watkins...

Mackenzie Davis Has a Hot Take on That 'Speak No Evil' Ending
Image
Ive been a very big fan of Mackenzie Davis for some time. I quite enjoyed our very first interview for What If back in 2013 and, like many out there, absolutely adored the AMC series, Halt and Catch Fire. While my enthusiasm for Davis work continues, the more we talk, the more why Im drawn to her work in general comes into focus. During this latest conversation, Davis noted, I do really give a shit, and I'm not a good liar. That right there sums up her vibe in all interviews. Her answers are always impassioned and honest. Not only does that make her an especially wonderful Collider Ladies Night guest, but those qualities bolster every single film shes in, including her latest, Speak No Evil.

‘Speak No Evil’ Star Scoot McNairy Explains Why the Reconceived Ending Intrigued Him Most
Image
Ten years ago, Scoot McNairy’s first collaboration with Mackenzie Davis on Halt and Catch Fire had just completed its first season on AMC, and the “little drama that could” gradually became both a critical darling and cult hit. Set in the personal computing and internet revolutions of the ‘80s and ‘90s, McNairy’s Gordon Clark and Davis’ Cameron Howe played computer geniuses who had great respect for each other’s intellects, and together with their impermanent romantic and business partners of Kerry Bishé’s Donna Clark and Lee Pace’s Joe MacMillan, the quartet’s interpersonal relationships continuously evolved amid the ever-changing landscape of the industry they helped shape.

McNairy and Davis’ characters often had a very brother-and-sister dynamic, so the Halt fan base was rocked when James Watkin’s Speak No Evil dropped its first trailer last April, unveiling McNairy and Davis’ married couple of Ben and Louise Dalton.

‘Speak No Evil’ Star Mackenzie Davis Breaks Down the Film’s ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ Reunion
Image
A decade ago, Mackenzie Davis’ breakout role as Cameron Howe on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire had just finished airing as part of the series’ well received but criminally underseen first season. Fortunately for Halt, the network’s flagship shows, Mad Men and Breaking Bad, had mostly concluded their decorated runs at that point, and AMC, in the interest of creating new critical darlings, decided to invest further in Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers’ under-viewed drama series, something that’s a rarity in this day and age of increasingly impatient networks, studios and streamers.

Davis played a gifted young computer programmer who was at the forefront of the personal computing and internet revolutions in the ’80s and ’90s, and throughout the rest of the series, she had an off-and-on romantic relationship with Lee Pace’s visionary entrepreneur, Joe MacMillan. Alongside their initially married friends and intermittent business partners,...

James McAvoy in Speak No Evil (2024)
Speak No Evil Review
James McAvoy in Speak No Evil (2024)
Speak No Evil is a meticulously crafted psychological thriller that marks the reunion of Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy. Last working together on the critically acclaimed series Halt and Catch Fire, they bring their powerful on-screen chemistry to the roles of Louise and Ben Dalton, an American couple thrust into a nightmare scenario.

Directed by James Watkins and produced by Blumhouse, the studio known for suspenseful hits like The Black Phone, Get Out, and The Invisible Man, the film benefits from a strong ensemble cast that also includes James McAvoy and Aisling Franciosi.

The story begins when Louise (Davis) and Ben Dalton (McNairy) and their daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) accept an invitation from Paddy (McAvoy), Ciara (Franciosi), and their son Ant (Dan Hough) to spend the weekend at their countryside estate. Having met the British family while on holiday in Italy, the Daltons initially see them as ideal hosts.

AMC’s ‘Interview With the Vampire’ Spinoff Casts Nicholas Denton as Lead ‘Talamasca’ Agent
Image
Another Aussie smokeshow has joined Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, and we can already see the fan art from here. AMC just announced that Nicholas Denton has been cast as the lead of their third series in their Iu franchise, a drama focused on a secretive society called The Talamasca (which is also the show’s current working title). Overseen by Immortal Universe architect Mark Johnson and executive produced by Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) and co-showrunner Mark Lafferty (Halt and Catch Fire), the six-episode season will focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe. Per AMC’s release, Denton — who had bodices ripping all over Versailles as the Vicomte de Valmont in Starz’s Dangerous Liaisons — will star as Guy Anatole, who is “brilliant, handsome and sharp on the surface, but he’s always...

How ‘House of the Dragon’ EP Melissa Bernstein Brought a Bit of the ‘Breaking Bad’ Universe to Westeros
Image
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more impressive TV resumé than Melissa Bernstein’s since 2008.

The four-time Emmy-winning producer was right by Vince Gilligan’s side when he got Breaking Bad’s pilot off the ground in 2007 and together with Mark Johnson and Gran Via Productions she helped turn the idiosyncratic crime drama about a high school chemistry teacher-turned-meth kingpin into its own empire. Immediately following the staggering success of the Bryan Cranston-led Breaking Bad, Gilligan, Bernstein, Peter Gould and the rest of Gilligan’s brain trust spun the series off into the Bob Odenkirk vehicle Better Call Saul, which is now considered to be one of the most acclaimed prequels in any medium. Then came 2019’s well-received sequel movie El Camino, chronicling Jesse Pinkman’s (Aaron Paul) quest for freedom.

Throughout that period of time, Bernstein also helped shepherd other critical darlings including Rectify, Halt and Catch Fire...

“I am getting Split vibes from this”: James McAvoy’s ‘Speak No Evil’ Trailer Seemingly References a Classic Jack Nicholson Scene from The Shining
Image
James McAvoy, with his acting prowess, has etched a unique place in Hollywood. However, his versatility came on full display when he got on board the psychological thriller Split (2016). The movie’s eerie atmosphere and spine-chilling storyline kept the audience on the edge of their seats. But for McAvoy, the story of being part of such complex movies was far from over. And he’s back with another mind-bending thriller, Speak No Evil.

James McAvoy in a still from the Speak No Evil trailer || Universal Pictures

Not just that, but McAvoy’s one particular scene in the trailer takes the audience back to a chilling scene from The Shining with Jack Nicholson leading the way. Is it a coincidence or a perfectly planned homage?

The Speak No Evil Trailer Allegedly Alludes to a Particular Eerie Scene From The Shining James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis in a still from the Speak No Evil...

Dan Stevens to star in and executive produce The Terror: Devil in Silver for AMC Networks
Image
Dan Stevens is ready to draw summoning circles in a psychiatric hospital for The Terror: Devil in Silver, the third chapter of AMC Networks‘ The Terror horror anthology. Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire) and author Victor Lavalle co-wrote The Terror: Devil in Silver, based on Lavalle’s novel. The story finds Stevens dabbling with forces beyond his control as pieces of his sanity break away.

Here’s a synopsis for Devil in Silver courtesy of Amazon:

New Hyde Hospital’s psychiatric ward has a new resident. It also has a very, very old one.

Pepper is a rambunctious big man, minor-league troublemaker, working-class hero (in his own mind), and, suddenly, the surprised inmate of a budget-strapped mental institution in Queens, New York. He’s not mentally ill, but that doesn’t seem to matter. He is accused of a crime he can’t quite square with his memory. In...

AMC Inks Expanded Deal With Netflix, Bringing 13 Series to Streaming Giant
Image
AMC Networks is betting that the “Netflix Effect” can bring its magic to a sizable portion of its lineup. A whole batch of shows from AMC are heading to Netflix in a new deal between the companies.

AMC said Tuesday that it has inked a deal with the streaming giant that will bring the prior seasons of 13 different series to the platform. Most of the shows will launch on Netflix on Aug. 19, with two others to become available in early 2025.

AMC describes the deal as a “curated selection” of shows, which will be available for 12 months. AMC has licensed shows to Netflix before, including The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Halt and Catch Fire, and of course Breaking Bad, which saw its linear viewership on AMC rise after prior seasons debuted on Netflix (Netflix also released a Breaking Bad movie in 2019, thanks in part to the success on the streamer).

This Upcoming Horror Movie Remake Is An Exciting Comeback For One Of The Last Decade's Most Underrated Actors
Image
Speak No Evil is a horror remake directed by James Watkins, starring Mackenzie Davis. Davis, considered one of the most underrated actors of the last decade, returns to horror after The Turning. The film offers a chance for Davis to showcase her acting range and gain the recognition she deserves.

One upcoming horror remake is a lot more exciting as its the deserved comeback of one of the most underrated actors of the last decade. The horror genre continues to have a great run, though it has faced some backlash for relying too much on sequels and remakes. Still, there are many of both coming up in the near future, and among the remakes to be released in 2024 is Speak No Evil. A remake of the 2022 movie of the same name by Christian Tafdrup, Speak No Evil is directed by James Watkins, and gives a horrifying twist to family vacations.

Jake Paltrow On ‘June Zero’, His Film Set In Early 1960s Israel During Adolf Eichmann’s Final Days – “A Very Large History, But From A Very Small Lens”
Image
In 1961, a key architect of the Holocaust, Adolf Eichmann, was tried in Israel and sentenced to death. An odd thing happened. Officials didn’t want to bury him and risk creating a shrine, so they decided on cremation. That is strictly against the Jewish religion and there were no crematoria in the country.

So Shlomi Zebco (played by Tzahi Grad), a former Israeli paramilitary soldier who owns a commercial oven factory, was asked by the government to make one big enough to incinerate Hitler’s former top lieutenant, handing him a manual with instructions – in German. Zebco’s assistant realized with horror the model was used in Nazi death camps.

The story is told from three points of view: of a 13-year-old Jewish Libyan boy who is kicked out of school, finds a job at the factory and helps build the oven; Eichmann’s guard, a Moroccan Jew tasked with...

Anne Rice
There's a new entry into the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, as AMC Networks ordered a third series.

The series will center around the Talamasca, which will sound familiar to those indulging in the magnificent second season of Interview with the Vampire.

The new series will join vampire classic and Mayfair Witches, both solid performers for AMC, as the latest chapter in the scarily good universe.

Interview with the Vampire Season 2, currently airing on the network, has introduced the mysterious Talamasca, and expanding their importance will do wonders to connecting the series.

The current season of Interview with the Vampire has been a standout, building upon its first effort with stellar critical acclaim and standout performances from its formidable main cast.

Life’s a beach for Amy Adams as she joins the cast of the rehabilitation drama At the Sea from Pieces of a Woman filmmakers
Image
Based on what I can gather about her new film, At the Sea, Amy Adams needs a pair of sandals and a stiff drink. Adams is teaming up with Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber – the director and writer of Pieces of a Woman and White God – for a new drama about rejuvenation and adjusting to a life you had not planned to live.

According to Deadline, At the Sea finds Adams’s Laura returning to her family at their holiday beach house after a long rehabilitation. Once there, Laura must readjust to her new lot in life, still haunted by aspects she tried to leave behind. Staring down the barrel of a new chapter of her life, Laura must cope without her fame, fortune, and, of all things, her identity.

Adams, a six-time Academy Award-nominated actress, recently wrapped production on the sci-fi drama Klara and the Sun, which Taika Waititi directs.

Recasting Batman For The Dcu's New Dark Knight Reboot Movie
Image
There are various excellent selections for the Dcu's Batman based on various actors' charisma, build, and experience. The Brave and the Bold offers a fresh take on the character which could benefit many actors who may otherwise be unexpected choices. Actors who have previous worked with James Gunn may be stronger contender for the role of Batman in the new Dcu based on the franchise's current casting, but those without this history shouldn't be counted out.

James Gunn's upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold promises audiences a new cinematic take on The Dark Knight, with a slew of possibilities for the next movie interpretation of Bruce Wayne on the table. One of the integral films that will help begin James Gunn and Peter Safran's brand-new Dcu, the film will need to find a new performer to add to the ranks of live-action Batman actors. If David Corenswet's...

Spaceman Review
Image
Plot: An astronaut realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns to Earth.

Desperate to fix things with his wife, he is helped by a mysterious ancient creature he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship.

Review: It should no longer be surprising when Adam Sandler stars in dramatic roles. When Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love was released in 2002, Sandler was best known for films like Big Daddy and Little Nicky. Even though Sandler still releases broad comedies like Hubie Halloween and Murder Mystery, the actor has proven his talents in movies like Uncut Gems and Hustle. Adam Sandler’s latest dramatic project is Spaceman, a science-fiction tale set in the void of the solar system. Partnered with Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan and acclaimed director Johan Renck, Spaceman is another solid performance from Adam Sandler that once again proves how...

Madame Web Review
Image
Plot: Cassie Webb (Dakota Johnson) is a New York Emt who acquires clairvoyance after a brush with death. She uses her powers to stop a spider-powered villain (Tahar Rahim) hunting three girls who, he believes, will eventually end his life.

Review: Let’s get one thing out of the way first. Not every Marvel movie by Sony has been bad. For my money, they’re behind the two greatest Spider-Man movies ever made, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse. And there’s the Venom movies. Those are elevated B-movies, but they’re a decent amount of fun thanks to Tom Hardy’s merciless scenery chewing, and the grosses for those flicks have been astronomical. Clearly, someone likes them. But Morbius…

Of course, one of the reasons people aren’t hyped about Madame Web is that the character isn’t exactly a household name. For those who aren’t in the loop,...

‘Madame Web’ Isn’t As Bad As You’ve Heard. It’s So Much Worse
Image
Trailers are designed to stir up excitement, the amuse-bouche that whets your appetite for the three-course meal. Occasionally, the oldest marketing trick in the book backfires. When Sony dropped a sneak peek at Madame Web, the newest addition to the company’s roster of Spider-Man–related films and another of their corporate crossovers with the good folks at Marvel Studios, the reaction was … not exactly what they hoped for. The same fans they were hoping to get riled up about a batch of fresh Spidey-adjacent characters began to mock the clip,...

As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face down the entity that thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls.
