Hey Dude cast mostly moved on from acting careers after the show, with few notable exceptions like Christine Taylor. Fans still visit the Bar None Dude Ranch location in Tuscon, which was originally the Tanque Verde Ranch. Some cast members like Kelly Brown left acting altogether due to uncomfortable experiences, focusing on other ventures.
"Where is the Hey Dude cast now?" is what some fans of the Nickelodeon Western sitcom have been wondering now that the show is over 30 years old. Hey Dude is likely a Nickelodeon sitcom that most people have forgotten about. Premiering in 1989 and lasting for five seasons, Hey Dude was the first full-length original live-action comedy on the network and the second scripted series, premiering only after The Third Eye from 1989.

Drew Barrymore is an American sweetheart. The actress has been working in front of the camera since she was a child, having made her debut with Altered States in 1980. And two years later, Barrymore found her breakthrough in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Then in the ’90s and 2000s, she became the rom-com queen with hit after hits, especially because of her chemistry with Adam Sandler.
Drew Barrymore | The Drew Barrymore Show
But did you know that there was a time when Drew Barrymore was considered to be ugly? Her production company, Flower Films’ first movie started Barrymore in the lead in a movie titled Never Been Kissed (1999). The rom-com went on to become a hit and opened a new door of adventures for the actress. But while the movie was being filmed, Barrymore had to go through some issues before she could come out on top.

Drew Barrymore is reflecting back on 20th Century Fox’s initial reaction to Never Been Kissed.
The actress-producer and talk-show host was joined by Hey, Dude…The ’90s Called! hosts Christine Taylor and David Lascher on Friday’s Drew Barrymore Show, where she recalled how the rom-com marked a big milestone for the actress, as it was the first project made under her own production company, Flower Films.
With her venture behind the camera while also being the film’s star, there was a lot of pressure on Barrymore for the film to succeed.
“Never Been Kissed was very interesting because it was our first official film for Flower Films. And at that time, people were very weary of actors being producers,” she explained. “A lot of it wasn’t necessarily working and it didn’t mean because you’re an actor, you knew how to produce a film and it was about the economics.

In the early 1990s, Doug was one of the major new cartoons that helped Nickelodeon reinvent itself. The network had only existed for just over a decade, but its focus had been on live-action kids shows like Double Dare or Hey Dude. The other cartoons that premiered on the same day were Rugrats, which was targeting the younger child audience, and The Ren & Stimpy Show, which was going after teenage viewers. Doug was perfectly tailored for the adolescent audience and still serves as a great window into the inner workings of a preteen mind. The fact that the narration is given by Doug (Billy West) means that the audience is privy to all the thoughts and feelings he’s experiencing while the events unfold on screen. The way the show uses Doug’s imagination mirrors the way that adolescents catastrophize every new challenge they face as they discover their individuality in the world.

If you were a Nick kid in the early 1990s, chances are you were watching Hey Dude, Nickelodeon’s first foray into scripted series. The sitcom set on a dude ranch ran for five seasons up until 1991 and still holds a special place in the hearts of fans. Former cast members David Lascher and Christine Taylor, who played Ted McGriff and Melody Hanson, know that firsthand. It’s why they decided to saddle up on a nostalgic trip back to a beloved decade for their podcast Hey Dude…The 90’s Called! Here the pair talk about reuniting all these years later, their famous spouses, and share memories from their times on some of the most iconic TV shows ever. You recently made news when you revealed you had dated during Hey Dude. Did you expect such a strong reaction? Christine Taylor: Who knew it was even headline-making? I think for us it was really,...

We have a new trailer for The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story, which should appeal to just about anyone who had cable and grew up in the 90s. The documentary, as the title suggests, chronicles the rise of Nickelodeon to prominence within the pop culture landscape. This initial look at the movie should serve as a huge boost of nostalgia for those who watched these shows growing up, but it also looks to provide a better understanding of how all of these shows came to be.
The trailer kicks off with a couple of the biggest stars from the network's glory days explaining what it was like behind the scenes. We then see someone getting slimed, something any fans of the Nick in the 90s will be familiar with. Described as the "anti-Disney," we are offered a window into what was going on behind the scenes that helped make the network what it became.

Writer-director Richard Curtis has reduced film audiences to tears for a generation, but this weekend when I left a screening of his new Beatles fantasy Yesterday, I noticed something was wrong: There was not a wet eye in the house. The film was entertaining, even funny here and there, but it was also a bit chilly.
I cite this not to pick on Curtis but to point up a question: Are audiences in general suffering from emotional deprivation? Critics puzzle over box office disappointments like Booksmart and Late Night or rave over TV shows like Euphoria or Gentleman Jack without noting their shared syndrome: an absence of empathy.
Curtis should understand this: He’s kept the tears flowing in Love Actually, the Bridget Jones movies, Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral. By contrast, the only current tear-generating movies are about canines, not humans (some exhibitors distribute towels at...

The Beatles' music is featured in a world where the band never existed in Danny Boyle’s new film Yesterday.
The Beatles didn't electrify rock and roll when they first plugged in to the musical consciousness, but they brought a charge that changed its history. Danny Boyle’s new film Yesterday begins its story when the electricity goes out around the world, and one man loses a tooth and gains an acoustic guitar.
The film imagines a world where the Beatles never existed, and yet features musicians who wouldn’t have chords to build on without the band. Written by Richard Curtis, Yesterday also features the music of the Liverpudlian quartet.

Himesh Patel (Eastenders) stars as young musician Jack Malik, who is about to give up performing after realizing he'd need a miracle to make it as a rock star.

Universal has officially announced the title to “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle’s musical comedy about The Beatles as “Yesterday.
The studio also released a trailer for the new film on Tuesday morning, confirming its release date as the previously announced June 28.

Breaking the rules and providing kids a space to hang out and be kids, Nickelodeon proved to be a progressive network one sliming at a time. As documented in the occasionally charming yet awfully brief The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story, the experimental network was itself formed from a cable experiment in Columbus, Ohio called Qube, an early interactive video on demand service.
Directed by Scott Barber and Adam Sweeney, The Orange Years interviews players critical to the network’s success including former network president Gerry Laybourne whose vision for “Nick” included a rebranding in the style of MTV with its freeform iconic orange blob that could morph into anything. The early years proved to be rocky with the station importing and dubbing cartoons until it found success with You Can’t Do That On Television, a Canadian import that spoke directly to the network’s target demographic.

Actor Seth Rogen has announced that he is canceling his press tour for The Disaster Artist at SiriusXM because they recently gave polarizing political figure Steve Bannon his own radio show. Bannon recently served as the White House Chief Strategist in the Donald Trump administration for the first 7 months of Trump's first term. Since leaving the White House, Bannon is back as the executive chairman for the far-right news organization Breitbart. Steve Bannon and Breitbart often share controversial views that are often seen as sexist, racist, and homophobic, to name a few.
Seth Rogen is not a fan of the 45th President of the United States and is very verbal about his distaste for the current administration on social media, often trolling the president. Rogen took to Twitter to announce that he has canceled his upcoming press stop at the SiriusXM satellite radio building strictly because they gave Breitbart and...

The recent outpouring of sexual assault allegations is a watershed moment in Hollywood history, but there’s one question on everyone’s minds: What’s a conscientious feminist to watch on TV these days? The discerning yet moral media lover has found themselves in quite a quandary as admired directors, producers, actors, and comedians have revealed to have abused their industry clout to intimidate, harass, and assault. In response to this universal quandary, musical comedy duo Reformed Whores have composed a plaintive lament to the beloved talent left standing.
Aptly titled “Keep It in Your Pants,” their song begins: “Hollywood has been so irresponsible, each week it seems a new abuser is named. And while I’m happy that people are being held accountable, I don’t want it to affect the way I’m entertained. Of course I think the patriarchy should be dismantled, but not if it means...

After years of talk and work to develop a script for Bill & Ted 3, it looks like it’s actually getting close to production. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have been very vocal about how excited they are for this movie, and in a recent interview with Forbes, Winter says it’s only a matter of time. He says:

He went on to say, “We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio — we’re just trying to nail down a start date.” He hopes to start production next year. In a separate report with The Sun inside sources are saying that the film reportedly takes place in the UK. They say:

There's been talk of a Bill & Ted 3 movie being in development since 2010, and after all that time it doesn't seem like it's any closer to going into production. Over the years, both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have offered updates on the film. Sometimes it seems like things are progressing, while at other times there seems to be no movement at all.
IGN Had the opportunity to talk to Reeves recently and they pointed out that in 2014 the actor told them, “We’re closer, but we’re not closer.” Then in 2015 they asked him about the film again and he said, "We're closer, we're closer." Now he has reverted back to his first statement, "We’re closer and we’re not closer."

Clarissa Explains It All premiered in March 1991, meaning that this month it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Yep, if Clarissa Darling were around today (and had been aging in real-world time since the show first debuted), she'd be 38 years old, maybe even with a 13-year-old Clarissa of her own.
It's not just that the Melissa Joan Hart sitcom was a popular show for pre-teen girls or even pre-teens in general; it's that it helped established a network identity for the channel it was on, a still-young Nickelodeon, and helped shape a lot of similarly focused shows that aired throughout the rest of the '90s.

Last fall, I had the great pleasure of speaking with the series' co-creators and main cast, who looked back on fighting evil... with mixed results.
In this second part of Daily Dead's retrospective on Todd & The Book of Pure Evil, Alex House (Todd Smith), Maggie Castle (Jenny Kolinsky), Bill Turnbull (Curtis Weaver), Melanie Leishman (Hannah B. Williams), Shawn Pierce (music composer), and series co-creator Craig David Wallace discuss their time on the truly unique series that showed the humor, horror, and often blood-soaked trials and tribulations of high school.
What were your auditions like for Todd & The Book of Pure Evil?

If you're Jennifer Aniston, posing topless with your hairdresser is no big deal.
Jennifer raised plenty of eyebrows with the latest issue of Allure magazine, in which she poses topless in a skin-to-skin embrace with her longtime hairstylist Chris McMillan. But according to the 45-year-old Cake actress, her close friendship with McMillan -- who's responsible for her famous "Rachel" cut -- and the fact that he's gay, made for zero awkwardness.

If you are a Hollywood film fan, especially those more into the darker R rated genre, then you probably have seen some of producer Adi Shankar’s films. He has been behind the action thrillers The Grey and A Walk Among the Tombstones (both starring Liam Neeson), Lone Survivor (Mark Wahlberg) and Killing Them Softly (Brad Pitt), among others.
Now, the young producer is bringing the Hindi film epic drama Gangs of Wasseypur to the Us. Gangs of Wasseypur is director/writer/producer Anurag Kashyap’s ambitious and extraordinary blood-and-bullets-fueled crime saga that charts 70 years in the lives – and spectacular deaths – of two mafia-like families fighting for control of the coal-mining town of Wasseypur, India. Inspired by the real-life exploits of local gangs the film, Gangs of Wasseypur is produced by Guneet Monga (The Lunchbox), and boasts an incredible cast, including Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Jaideep Ahlawat, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Piyush Mishra,...

When Alec Christy was voted out in the second of two "Survivor: San Juan Del Sur" episodes this week, he was disappointed, but took solace in at least outlasting his older brother Drew. Indeed, he can take added pleasure in the relative simplicity with which he went out: The dominant alliance was supposed to split votes, but take out Keith. Instead, Natalie flipped and voted Alec out, figuring Keith might be a better ally to keep around. That beats Drew's exit, which involved throwing a challenge in order to target an all-female voting conspiracy that never existed, subsequently alienating all of the women his his tribe, creating a female conspiracy and getting himself voted out. Of the brothers, Drew was the "Survivor" fan and Alec told me in his exit interview that he had only watched two episodes before going into the game. And while he understands that he made certain beginners' mistakes,...

The path to righteousness, awesomeness and most excellence has been paved with numerous problems. We’re of course talking about the return of cinema’s most bodacious slackers for Bill & Ted 3. Progress on the threequel has stalled over the years due to script leaks, “darkness,” and the general misalignment of key factors. Most recently we heard from Alex Winters that a completed script was in the bag, with the pair set to return for another dose of time travel tomfoolery. Despite Winters’ optimism, there’s still a ways to go before the film even approaches production.
Today, the other half of Wyld Stallyns, Keanu Reeves, spoke to Coming Soon about the first problem that needs addressing – the script:
We have to get the script in the right place. Chris [Matheson] and Ed [Solomon] have been working really hard over a couple of years to get the draft in the right place. What...

Bill and Ted, the two slackers that could...survive. With Alex Winter (Bill) bemoaning having to produce this project at the slow Hollywood pace while still in the public eye, it's a constant reminder not to get too excited, just a little excited.
Well, Keanu Reeves might have blown all of that and turned up the excitement level revealing that Bill & Ted 3 with have paradoxes, wormholes and much ado about a fated song. First, he talks about the ongoing process looking for a financier for a potentiially $150 million dollar script for a property that has no international appeal, Then he got down to the coolness.
Coming Soon got the scoop:
Cs: The director you guys picked out originally, Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) was a great choice. Is he still involved?

There is a trio of Part III sequels currently creeping towards becoming a reality that we constantly hear about. Last week, Ghostbusters finally took a giant leap ahead, confirming director Paul Feig along with its completely rebooted all-female concept. While Ron Perlman failed to provide any substantial update on Hellboy 3 over the weekend at New York Comic Con, John Wick star Keanu Reeves did have an update on Bill & Ted 3. He was able to give new story details and some interesting time twists, extrapolating on what co-star Alex Winter had to say earlier this month. There will be wormholes!
Keanu Reeves claims that Dean Parisot is still attached as a director. He may be best remembered as the driving force behind Galaxy Quest and he was at the helm of last summer's sequel Red 2. Reeves also confirms that the story will still revolve around the creation of the greatest song in the world,...

I'm just one of many fans that would love to see this Bill & Ted 3 movie happen. The script for it has been in development for a couple of years already, and one day they'll get it to a point where it will be able to move to the next step. During an interview with Comingsoon.net, Keanu Reeves discusses the film in great detail. He talks about where it is in development; some of the hold ups that it has been having; director Dean Parisot; and the story. He even describes a scene from the movie, which sounds hilarious.
He starts off by talking about the script that is being written buy the original writers and creators, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
"We have to get the script in the right place. Chris and Ed have been working really hard over a couple of years to get the draft in the right place.

For those of you who remember the Nickelodeon show "Hey Dude," with its cheesy, computer-generated title card and cast of fresh faced camp counselors who toiled in a dude ranch, have we got some nostalgia-drenched news for you: the cast has reunited! And they're all significantly older!
The show, which ran from 1989 to 1991 and can currently be streamed on Amazon Prime, starred David Brisbin, Kelly Brown, Jonathan Galkin, Debra Kalman and Christine Taylor, all of whom reunited for what appears to be the purposes of some kind of Nickelodeon '90s throwback thing (and, of course, just to celebrate its 25th anniversary). One thing from the brief clip is very clear: Christine Taylor's consistent career (not to mention her marriage to Ben Sitller) has afforded her a much better skincare regiment/workout routine.

It's a little wild and a little strange, when you make a home out on the range! If you grew up in the '90s, you certainly remember Hey Dude. The teen-centric comedy Western aired on Nickelodeon from 1989 to 1991 and followed the staff of the fictional Bar None Dude Ranch as they dealt with guests, chores, and each other amid a dusty desert backdrop full of man-eating jackrabbits and killer cacti. (Ok, that last bit is only true with regard to the show's legendary theme song, but before you click, I must warn you: It's still just as catchy now as it was then, and you're likely to be singing it for the next four hours.)

Screenwriter Graham Yost, now the showrunner of FX’s Justified, admits that the plot of Speed sounds ridiculous: A bomb on a bus will detonate if the bus travels below 50 mph. But when the movie was released June 10, 1994, a funny thing happened: It became a hit with moviegoers and critics alike. To quote EW’s grade-a review: “The film takes off from formula elements – it’s yet another variation on Die Hard – but it manipulates those elements so skillfully, with such a canny mixture of delirium and restraint, that I walked out of the picture with the rare sensation that...

There's a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. As movie premises go, this one is absolutely ridiculous, right? You'd have been forgiven for thinking so, at least, as few involved with Jan de Bont's "Speed," which was released by 20th Century Fox on June 10, 1994, could have anticipated its popularity. The film was a runaway hit, winning two Oscars and grossing over $350 million worldwide. Now, 20 years later, it's a celebrated relic of an era before blockbuster filmmaking was so awash in digital wizardry, an era when practical movie magic sold the highest of concepts to the masses. For actor Keanu Reeves, who starred as the film's hero, Lapd S.W.A.T. officer Jack Traven, it feels like that long ago if only because so much has changed over the last two decades. Though...

Austin television fans have been gearing up for the 3rd annual Atx Television Festival (or as the festival likes to say, "Season 3"), running from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8 in downtown Austin. The relatively new festival features a handful of current television shows as well as a few retrospectives and panels that focus on the behind-the-scenes world of TV. Venues include Alamo Drafthouse Ritz and Stateside at the Paramount.
The full lineup was recently released, and Nineties kids will once again rejoice at the fact that another childhood favorite is coming to Atx. A cast and crew reunion of Hey Dude! is one of the headliners, bringing fan favorites such as Christine Taylor and David Brisbin to town. That's not the only reunion the fest has planned, though. Everwood and Roswell cast members are also coming together again to discuss what it was like to work on these popular shows.
