Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom carries the final remnants of the now-defunct DC Extended Universe as DC Studios enters a new era, potentially without the eponymous superhero. With Aquaman 3 looking highly unlikely, one of the franchise's top stars is fine with the "ship sailing" in the polarizing film series.
Speaking with Variety, Aquaman franchise actor Patrick Wilson addressed the possibility of a threequel and whether two films were enough to tell its story. Wilson portrayed Orm Marius, the former Ocean Master and Atlantean half-brother of Jason Momoa's titular underwater-loving protagonist, in both Aquaman films. Though Wilson "wouldn't be opposed" to another movie, he doesn't believe there's a suitable narrative to tell for a third entry, specifically when addressing his character's arc.

It's been 12 years since Ryan Coogler made his startlingly assured feature filmmaking debut with "Fruitvale Station," but he still feels like an unknown quantity as an artist. We know from "Creed" and "Black Panther" that he's got a knack for imbuing franchise movies with uncommon heart, and no shortage of swagger when it comes to staging dynamite action set pieces. But due to circumstances beyond his control (the death of Chadwick Boseman and the Covid-19 pandemic), he's only made one movie over the last seven years. That's a lot of time for a still-young filmmaker (he's 38) to sit on the sidelines, especially one whose oeuvre is curiously light on original movies.
That's not a knock on Coogler at all. Christopher Nolan directed a remake ("Insomnia") and three Batman movies en route to becoming the most prominent and praised studio filmmaker on the planet, so Coogler is in excellent company. But...

The following contains major spoilers from NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 11, "Flight of Icarus," which debuted Monday, Jan. 27 on CBS. It also contains discussion of suicide.
NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 11, "Flight of Icarus" is a prime example of what makes the show different -- and in some cases better -- than its long-running predecessor. The novelty of Origins being a prequel has already worn off. It's that the series has a more serious tone than NCIS and is digging more regularly into its characters. While there's still humor, "Flight of Icarus" proves that this program is at its best when it lets go of the franchise formula.
"Flight of Icarus" concerns the death of Captain Cameron Reid, which Mike Franks and his team quickly determine to be a suicide.

It's been over a decade since The Conjuring introduced viewers to a fictionalized version of paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. Fans will be able to revisit the story when the 2013 horror movie debuts on Max on Feb. 1.
Directed by James Wan from a script by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes, the movie serves as the first entry in The Conjuring universe. Set in 1971, the story follows Roger and Carolyn Perron, who move into an old, secluded farmhouse in Rhode Island. After the family, which includes daughters Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cindy, April, and their dog, Sadie, discovers a boarded-up cellar in the house, they are plagued by a series of strange incidents.

On Call not only thrives on realism with its grounded portrayal of police procedures but also on the strength of its strong cast of characters. Reminiscent of gripping cop dramas like David Ayer's End of Watch, Prime Video's On Call has been created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf. The two showrunners put their experience working on legal thriller shows, like Chicago P.D. and Law & Order: Criminal Justice System, on full display by diving deep into the day-to-day snags and challenges faced by two police officers, Traci Harmon and Alex Diaz.
While following a relatively linear storyline, the Dick Wolf police procedural series unfolds at a quick pace by restricting its episodic runtime to around 30 minutes. Although the series sticks to many conventions of the genre, its performances and compelling side-story beats are enough to keep viewers hooked throughout its runtime. NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 6, "Incognito" makes repeated references to being "in a box." It wants to be an episode about how difficult it is for Lala Dominguez to be a woman and an Nis agent in 1991. Unfortunately, that story doesn't play as well in 2024. And underneath that is a much stronger premise that never gets out.
"Incognito" is supposed to be about the murder of a petty officer who had stolen classified material from his office. But the case of the week is largely window dressing, as the episode focuses firstly on Lala's personal struggles, and then on Leroy Jethro Gibbs going undercover for the first time. Only one of these ideas completely gets off the ground. The plot has good intentions, but it doesn't deliver any real results.

NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 5, "Last Rites" is still an origin story, but not for Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Instead, it takes a detour to explain a formative case in young Mike Franks' history, giving some further insight into Gibbs' boss and mentor. While the ability to push past Franks' cynical, hardened exterior is welcomed, the killer behind bars plot is overdone and too predictable to be exciting.
"Last Rites" concerns a man whom Franks arrested for the murders of his wife and her boyfriend six years earlier. He was never able to recover the wife's body and that's bothered him ever since, especially since he made a promise to her twin sister. With the killer about to be executed, Franks has one last opportunity to fulfill that promise. While NCIS: Origins has followed some familiar paths, this one is so familiar that it doesn't even feel like an NCIS episode.

Lord, take us to church because it looks like NCIS: Origins’ golden boy, Randy, is about to drop the nice guy act. Everyone reacts to religion in their own way.
Many viewers have been curious about other characters on the show, with Randy being a top contender. While we’d love to know what is going on with Lala, there’s always time for the sweetest guy at the Nis.
NCIS: Origins will be taking audiences to Sunday service in “Sick as Our Secrets.” That’s quite the episode title to go with, and it invokes some pretty intense possibilities.
(Erik Voake/CBS)
At this point in the series, viewers can expect each episode to feature multiple heart-wrenching scenes from one character or another.
So, stock up on the Kleenex because I doubt NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 8 will be any different.

The Conjuring franchise has now seen Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising Ed and Lorraine Warren for more than ten years. Wilson marks the end of their onscreen marriage with a touching tribute.
Patrick Wilson took to Instagram to honor co-star Vera Farmiga for ten years of memories. The Conjuring universe was built on their characters Ed and Lorraine Warren, and it's only fitting that the series ended with a homage to the actors' onscreen marriage. Wilson and Farmiga starred in three Conjuring installments to date, and The Conjuring: Last Rites is their final movie together. Wilson marked his last day making that film by honoring everyone responsible for the thriving franchise, which will likely explore plots beyond the mainline series after Last Rites. Farmiga is a special mention among Wilson's roll call of people he appreciates.

When it comes to modern horror franchises, none are as iconic as The Conjuring. The supernatural series based on the chilling real life case files of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren was started by genre legend James Wan all the way back in 2013. Since then, the franchise has been scaring moviegoers with sequels and a handful of demonic spin-offs. However, even in the horror genre, all good things must come to an end. The upcoming The Conjuring: Last Rites is set to be the fourth and final mainline entry in the series. Now, it's been revealed that Last Rites has finished filming.

Have your tissues at the ready if you're a fan of The Conjuring universe! Lead actress Vera Farmiga took to her Instagram earlier today to post a heartwarming farewell tribute to her co-star, Patrick Wilson, in honor of the movie wrapping filming soon.
Based on the real demonologists of the same name, fans have lovingly embraced Farmiga and Wilson's portrayals of Lorraine and Ed Warren, who they have faithfully portrayed in The Conjuring Universe since it started in 2013. For more than a decade, we've fallen in love with the tender romance nurtured between the two actors on-screen in more than three films, and now we'll get to see the grand finale next year when The Conjuring: Last Rites releases in theaters.
In Farmiga's post, she noted that she and Wilson said "I do" to playing these characters in their initial Warner Bros. contract and have enjoyed their time together ever since.

Vera Farmiga has reflected on saying goodbye to her character while filming The Conjuring: Last Rites. Farmiga has played real-life paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren opposite Patrick Wilson as Lorraine's husband Ed for more than a decade, as they debuted their characters in the hit 2013 horror movie The Conjuring. The upcoming The Conjuring: Last Rites is set to be the final installment in the flagship franchise, which has also spawned spinoff franchises including Annabelle and The Nun.
On her official Instagram account, Vera Farmiga shared a photo of Ed and Lorraine's wedding photo from The Conjuring Universe. She revealed that Wilson wraps filming on The Conjuring: Last Rites on the day of the post, November 21, and wrote a caption paying heartfelt tribute to her longtime co-star, saying "I got them feels today." She reflected on roughly 5000 days of embodying the Warrens, ending the caption with "Heres to 12 years. I cherish you.

If there is one thing NCIS: Origins knows how to get right, it’s an emotional journey filled with tears and fears. No character on the show is safe from development. We just hope the show picks up the pace a little.
One of the main concerns viewers have for the premiere season is that Special Agent Lala Dominguez needs to be developed and utilized correctly.
Considering how well NCIS: Origins has done developing Gibbs, Franks, and even Randy, I’d have to agree with that assessment of Lala.

NCIS: Origins redeemed Mark Harmon's final NCIS scene. During Harmon's last moments on NCIS, Gibbs went fly-fishing with Sean Murray's Timothy McGee. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 5 “Last Rites.”] Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid) makes good on a promise to a victim’s sister in the latest NCIS: Origins episode. Before he had his current team—and after Vera (Diany Rodriguez) left him as his partner—Franks worked a double homicide, a woman and her lover killed by her husband. The woman’s body was never found. With his execution date approaching, time is running out, so Franks makes a deal with him (but tricks him) and eventually figures out where she’s buried, which he’d promised her sister he would do. And during that, Franks had two important conversations, one with Tish (Tonantzin Carmelo) about just why he made that promise to the victim’s wife and Mary Jo (Tyla Abercrumbie) about the case—and how she sees everything, including a certain file. Below, Schmid breaks down those key ...

The hands behind NCIS: Origins should have titled this episode “There’s Something About Mike Franks.” I think the man just about felt every emotion under the sun in “Last Rites.”
It doesn’t take long after meeting Franks to see he is an acquired taste for some. So, it’s not at all surprising that he manages to rub people the wrong way.
The NCIS character has a big heart. Unfortunately, his mouth is connected to his brain, and that thing is soaked in brown liquor. Still, it wouldn’t be NCIS: Origins without the franchise vet.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
Before we get into it, let me start by saying I went into NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 5 thinking Franks had lost all his marbles. However, by the end, I fully understood his Pov.

The NCIS franchise returns with NCIS season 22 and the debut of NCIS: Origins in the fall of 2024, but the two shows' release schedules change slightly following their premieres. As its title suggests, NCIS: Origins serves as a prequel to the original military police procedural series, taking place in 1991, a little over a decade before the events of NCIS season 1. NCIS: Origins is the sixth installment and fifth official spinoff in the NCIS franchise, following in the footsteps of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawai'i, and NCIS: Sydney. However, it's the first prequel.
While NCIS season 22's story revolves around the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in the present day, NCIS: Origins' plot follows Leroy Jethro Gibbs at the start of his career at the Naval Investigative Service (the precursor to NCIS). The two TV shows are quite different, but they both have qualities that should...

The Conjuring films are extreme embellishments of their cases throughout the 1970s and 1980s, alongside spinoffs that throw plenty of fictionalized elements in too, and Last Rites is the final mainline chapter.

CBS’ attempt to dismiss a discrimination lawsuit filed by a Seal Team script coordinator has been denied.
In May, CBS Studios filed a motion to dismiss the suit brought by Brian Beneker, who alleged that in his years-long bid to be promoted to staff writer on Seal Team, he was discriminated against for being a “white, heterosexual male.” But the motion was rejected in a court order issued Wednesday, with U.S. District Judge John F. Walter ruling that CBS’ arguments would be “more appropriately resolved” by a legal process known as summary judgment; thus, the lawsuit will proceed.

The Conjuring 4 has found its director after a long wait, confirming it as the last mainline film in the franchise. Michael Chaves will be directing the upcoming horror sequel, and sources have confirmed that it will be the final installment in The Conjuring Universe. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are expected to return for the movie, which is set to start filming in Summer 2024.
After nearly three years of waiting, The Conjuring 4 has finally found its director and confirmed itself to be the last mainline movie in the franchise. Created by James Wan, the hit horror franchise has largely revolved around the various cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life married paranormal investigators played by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson in the mainline movies and spinoffs. It was confirmed in late 2022 that a fourth Conjuring movie was in development with original screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick returning, though no director had been set.

Acclaimed horror director James Wan is dipping his toes into the comedy genre by producing a new half-hour sitcom about aliens for CBS. Wan is, of course, the director of such notable horror hits as Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, and Malignant. While he hasnt directed anything since 2023s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Wan has been staying busy behind the scenes producing the upcoming Stephen King adaptations Salems Lot and The Monkey, as well as the sequel to the 2021 video game adaptation, Mortal Kombat.
Per Deadline, Wan will produce the new sitcom, titled Area 51, through his Atomic Monster banner, which has also had a hand in producing such TV shows as MacGyver, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Archive 81. Legendary demonologists Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) may be putting away their crosses in the final Conjuring film, Last Rites, but that does not necessarily mean the end of the franchise. According to Variety, Max is still developing that television series they announced last spring. The franchise started over a decade ago with the James Wan-helmed feature film The Conjuring, inspired by the cases of the self-proclaimed haunting experts. Inspired is the correct term, as The Conjuring films are highly stylized and deviate quite a bit from reality. But that hasnt stopped horror fans from embracing the husband and wife team as they defeat evil nuns and haunted dolls.

John Carpenter has announced his new album, Lost Themes IV: Noir, a non-soundtrack release arriving May 3rd via Sacred Bones Records. To build anticipation, the filmmaker and composer has shared the lead single, “My Name Is Death,” and its accompanying music video. Stream it below.
The upcoming album reunites the horror master with his frequent collaborators, son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. A follow-up to 2021’s Lost Themes III: Weeping Ghost, Noir promises to be unlike anything the trio has done before — a stylistic shift that enhances Carpenter’s signature atmospheric synth with a distinctly “noir” vibe.

The Nun II director Michael Chaves provided a new update regarding the current development of the upcoming fourth installment to The Conjuring movies.
Before signing onto The Nun II, Chaves first served as the director of 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, making him the only filmmaker besides franchise creator James Wan to helm two movies in The Conjuring Universe. Even though it's unclear if there are also plans for him to potentially take over The Conjuring 4 as well, Chaves does have an idea on what fans should expect from the fourth installment titled as Last Rites, seemingly hinting at the main series’ impending conclusion. Speaking with /Film, Chaves confirmed that prior to the WGA strike, the project’s script was still being written and developed. From what he knows, Wan and the rest of the creative team are planning a "great finale" for Last Rites.
