Another Crazy Trailer for 'Traction Park Massacre' Wacky Horror Film
Image
"That old park – it's actually real!" Yes it is – it really did exist. Another trailer has launched for the super crazy indie horror thriller film called Traction Park Massacre, a theme park horror riff from filmmakers Douglas Dimonda & Adam Dubin. This new trailer is also a promo to reveal they'll have a panel at Florida Supercon convention - on July 19th. We also posted the first official trailer last year for this wacky horror mash-up, which still doesn't have a final release date set yet. "Young People meet Outlaw Bikers meet feral Twin Psycho-killers in a notorious abandoned water park." Terror Twins LLC is making the film, which is described as an homage to horror cult classics like Evil Dead 2, Friday the 13th, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, etc. Also inspired by the infamous Action Park water park in New Jersey (profiled in this doc Class Action Park) that was actually very dangerous.

This month, the Halloweenies continue their Universal Monsters coverage with 1954’s Creature from the Black Lagoon. In anticipation, the gang shares their picks for the best water creature media of all time. Or something like that. Like their list of favorite vamps ahead of their Dracula episode — or their list of wolves ahead of their Wolf Man coverage; or their list of invisible films before their Invisible Man coverage; Phantom also got the same treatment — this list is as definitive as their voice in the Horror industry.

Anniversary Update for ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game’ Now Live [Trailer]
Image
Hard to believe that it’s been one year since Teravision Games and IllFonic launched Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, but the devs are celebrating in style with the new Anniversary Update.

Not only does the update include new skins and cosmetics, but a brand-new Klowntality featuring Klownzilla!

New in the update is Dollie, a new Klown skin for the Tank Klown type.

“Dollie is a larger-than life figure, always at the center of circus mayhem with her oversized striped shoes and vibrant patchwork suit. She delights in crafting elaborate pranks that leave her victims bewildered, like her signature acid pies that explode into a colorful, gooey mess. With a wild mane of hair that defies gravity, Dollie’s infectious laughter echoes through the night, drawing in unsuspecting victims who become the punchline of her chaotic jokes.”

The update also includes new cosmetics for Klowns and Humans, including...

The History of the Universal Monsters: 1925’s ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Still Scares a Century Later [Halloweenies Podcast]
Michael Van Wijk in Gladiators (1992)
In 2025, the Halloweenies are celebrating the storied legacy of the Universal Monsters. Dracula, Wolf Man, Frankenstein, his Bride, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Invisible Man… all will be covered. In fact, each monster is getting their own month, giving the Halloweenies plenty of time to dig deep into their respective origins and chart their influence over the past century and some change.

Last month, the gang booked a night at The Lion’s Head Inn to unravel the sordid and wild discoveries behind James Whale’s 1933 Hollywood wonder The Invisible Man starring Claude Rains. This month, however, they’re hitting 88 mph and traveling back a 100 years to the salad days of Universal as they search the cellars for 1925’s silent blockbuster The Phantom of the Opera.

Topics include: the torturous journey from page to set to critical consensus to multiple cuts that may or may not even exist...

‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ – John Massari Resurrects Classic Theme With New Punk Cover!
Image
One of the most iconic horror movie theme songs of all time is Killer Klowns from The Dickies, which is of course the main theme for 1988 horror-comedy Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Speaking of that film’s equally beloved musical score, that was composed by John Massari, and Massari has today released his own punk-style cover of the classic Dickies song!

From Massari’s alt-metal band Jm, the punk cover of The Dickies’ Killer Klowns has been released today in celebration of the 37th anniversary of the Chiodo Brothers’ horror classic.

In fact, Jm will be releasing two officially licensed covers of The Dickies’ iconic theme song, the punk/metal hybrid today, and also a shred-heavy ’80s metal version later this month.

Jm first delivers a high-octane metal/punk hybrid, while lead guitarist Jonathan Padilla unleashes an ’80s metal shred fest that reimagines the theme with cinematic firepower.

Massari’s version dropped today,...

Massacre à la tronçonneuse (1974)
Midnight Mayhem could be one of the best asymmetric horror games of 2025
Massacre à la tronçonneuse (1974)
The indie gaming scene has delivered consistent highs so far in 2025, and Midnight Mayhem is shaping up to continue that trend. With a June 3 early access Steam release date on the horizon, it won't be long before the project sees the light of day. Ironically, that's the last thing the monster within would want. In Midnight Mayhem, one shadow is all it takes to disappear. That's thanks to a unique stealth and lighting mechanic that could be a genre game-changer.

Midnight Mayhem gets the horror basics right by crafting a villain worth running from. A patchwork jester with hollow eyes is creepy even before it starts crawling on the walls. With a leering, checkerboard face and bloody grin, the monster is a sinister sight. It's the creature's powers that make it remarkable, however. Midnight Mayhem harnesses lighting in a way that fellow horror games like Dead by Daylight and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre haven't.

Les Clowns tueurs venus d'ailleurs (1988)
Ryan Gosling Is Helping To Bring Back Killer Klown’s from Outer Space
Les Clowns tueurs venus d'ailleurs (1988)
Everybody loves a tremendous cheesy 80s horror movie. Nothing lives up to this saying more than the 1988 cult classic movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space. For years, there has been talk of a sequel and an eight-episode mini-series, but nothing has happened.

But it looks like the Klowns may be landing again, this time with some help from an A-list actor. Industry scooper Jeff Sneider of The InSneider reports that Ryan Gosling has come on board to produce a Killer Klowns from Outer Space remake for Amazon MGM Studios.

The original film was written and directed by Stephen Chiodo from a screenplay he wrote with his brother Charles Chiodo. Stephen and Charles also produced the film with their other brother, Edward Chiodo. The film follows teenagers Mike (Grant Cramer) and Debbie (Suzanne Snyder) see a comet crash outside their sleepy small town, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous...

Ryan Gosling to Bring Killer Klowns Back from the Void
Image
After decades of false starts, fan-fuelled nostalgia, and more merchandise than movie updates, Killer Klowns from Outer Space may finally be gearing up for a return, this time with Ryan Gosling reportedly involved as producer for a high-profile reboot at Amazon MGM Studios.

The surprise report, broken by insider Jeff Sneider, suggests that Gosling is backing a remake of the 1988 cult classic horror-comedy that saw extraterrestrial clowns descend from the cosmos in a giant circus tent spaceship to wreak havoc on a sleepy American town. With popcorn guns, cotton candy cocoons, acid pies, and balloon-animal bloodshed, the original film delivered a blend of slapstick humour and outlandish horror that has only grown in popularity since its modest theatrical debut.

The film was created, written and directed by the Chiodo Brothers, who for years have tried – and failed – to bring the Klowns back to life through sequels, 3D reboots, and even a proposed Syfy Original.

Ryan Gosling Is Reportedly Rebooting Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Image
Hollywood icon Ryan Gosling is reportedly leading the charge for a new Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Per Jeff Sneider's Hollywood blog The InSneider, Ryan Gosling is leading the production of a new Killer Klowns from Outer Space reboot. The project comes in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, though no further details regarding its development or production are available as of the time of writing.

Directed by Stephen Chiodo who co-wrote the script with brother Charles and co-produced with both Charles and Edward Chiodo, Killer Klowns from Outer Space is by far one of the most beloved horror cult classics. The film takes place in Crescent Cove, a small California town that is besieged by an invading army of clown-like alien horrors. As the monstrous clowns tear their way through town with a variety of circus-themed weapons and artifacts, a group of fearless survivors join forces to protect their...

Ryan Gosling Reportedly Producing ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ Reboot for Amazon?!
Image
We’ve been waiting a long time on the return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space, with a proposed television series, an announced 3D sequel, and even a planned Syfy Original movie coming and going over the years. None of those projects ever ended up seeing the light of day, of course, with the original ’80s movie only spawning a video game follow-up at this time.

But it sounds like the Killer Klowns may be gearing up for their long-awaited return to the screen, with reporter Jeff Sneider breaking a wild scoop late last night on The InSneider.

According to Sneider’s report, which you can read in full behind a paywall, Ryan Gosling is on board to produce a new Killer Klowns from Outer Space project for Amazon MGM Studios?!

Sneider describes the project as a “remake” of the 1988 horror-comedy that was created, written and directed by the Chiodo Bros,...

Amazon Is Reportedly Making a ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ Remake with Ryan Gosling as a Producer
Image
A new project is in the works at Amazon MGM Studios, with Ryan Gosling stepping in as producer to revive a 1988 horror-comedy. The movie, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, is set to get a remake, sparking excitement (at least for me) among fans of the original.

The 1988 film, directed by Stephen Chiodo, follows a group of alien clowns who land on Earth with sinister plans. They invade a small California town, capturing humans to feed on their blood. Known for its wild mix of scares and laughs, the movie has built a loyal following over the years, earning a strong 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 28 reviews.

Over time, there have been several attempts to revisit the story. The Chiodo Brothers, who created the original, once planned a sequel blending new ideas with the old, set for release in 2012.

That project, Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 3D,...

The 10 Best Horror Movies About Scary Clowns
Image
Horror movies about clowns are their own specific breed of awesome. Some of the best horror movies out there center around the diabolical sweetness -- or lack thereof -- of clowns, so there's no underestimating how truly terrifying they can be within the right circumstances. Sure, there are some truly bad ones out there, but those truly pale in comparison to how much the good ones absolutely rock. One could even argue that the presence of a scary clown automatically elevates any horror movie, but that one might be just a matter of taste at the end of the day.

That said, there's no denying horror is truly a safe haven for the weird and wonderful, and evil clowns definitely fall within those categories. In fact, culture's most memorable clowns call horror their home. Horror allows for audiences to safely explore the antithesis of the joy clowns can conventionally give us,...

Spill Some Blood With the Upcoming ‘Terrifier’ Video Game
Image
Back in October, I got my hands on the Special Edition of Nighthawk Interactive’s Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead RetroRealms Double Feature. I mean, I preordered that baby, desperate for all the goodies and collectibles, plus games centering around two of my favorite horror franchises, despite my innate resistance toward 2D action platformers. The games are fine, probably great if you’re a fan of that genre, though the novelty of a pixel art-styled sidecroller with 16-bit visuals where I got to play as Ash and Michael Myers was enough to leave me satisfied with my purchase.

After all, I love video games, especially horror video games, though known properties are rarely adapted as anything other than asynchronous multiplayer titles. I tried Friday the 13th: The Game, hated the matchmaking, and thus never even bothered to try my hand at Evil Dead: The Game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,...

Horror Highlights: The Shrouds, 825 Forest Road, Popeye The Slayer Man
Image
The Shrouds: "In an eerie, deceptively placid near-future, a techno-entrepreneur named Karsh (Cassel) has developed a new software that will allow the bereaved to bear witness to the gradual decay of loved ones dead and buried in the earth. While Karsh is still reeling from the loss of his wife (Kruger) from cancer—and falling into a peculiar sexual relationship with his wife’s sister (also Kruger)—a spate of vandalized graves utilizing his “shroud” technology begins to put his enterprise at risk, leading him to uncover a potentially vast conspiracy. Written following the death of the director’s wife, the new film from David Cronenberg is both a profoundly personal reckoning with grief and a descent into noir-tinged dystopia, set in an ominous world of self-driving cars, data theft, and A.I. personal assistants. Offering Cronenberg’s customary balance of malevolence and wit, The Shrouds is a sly...

Clown In A Cornfield Is One Of The Best Scary Clown Horror Movies Ever Made [SXSW]
Image
Clowns are scary. Despite largely being associated with children's entertainment, people have a deep-rooted fear of these painted performers, so, naturally, quite a few horror movies have made good use of that over the years. In recent years, "Terrifier" slasher Art the Clown has become a straight-up horror icon. All of this to say, the scary clown sub-genre is an enduring one. And now "Clown in a Cornfield" instantly makes a case for being one of the best scary clown movies ever.

I had the good fortune of catching the world premiere of this one at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Directed by Eli Craig, known best as the man behind "Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil," this adaptation of Adam Cesare's popular novel of the same name is nothing shy of a horror/comedy delight. It's funny, it's gory, it's well crafted, and it occupies a unique space in the scary clown sub-genre.

The 1980s horror-comedy classic has become a merchandising powerhouse in recent years, and Trick or Treat Studios has new toys, masks, and even busts/banks headed our way soon.

First up, a second wave of Killer Klowns from Outer Space action figures are being added to the “Scream Greats” line, with Jumbo, Spikey and Rudy being added to the mix. They join the previously released wave of Klowns, which included Shorty, Slim, and Fatso.

Trick or Treat Studios also previewed a line of 5″ Killer Klowns from Outer Space figures at Toy Fair, with that wave featuring Slim, Shorty, and female Klowns Rosebud and Daisy!

Trick or Treat Studios Brings ‘Maniac Cop’, ‘Leprechaun’, ‘Hellraiser’ & More Figures to Toy Fair
Image
The big winner of Toy Fair 2025 on the horror front may very well be Trick or Treat Studios, who brought some big time surprises to the convention floor this morning.

Upcoming licensed toys from Trick or Treat Studios include Maniac Cop, Hellraiser, Leprechaun, Terrifier 2, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and Army of Darkness!

The most surprising reveal has to be the Maniac Cop action figure, which is headed our way in 2026. This marks the first officially licensed Maniac Cop figure we have ever seen.

Trick or Treat’s Hellraiser wave, meanwhile, will include Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, and Female Cenobite, with unpainted prototypes on display at Toy Fair this weekend.

And yes, we’re even getting a Warwick Davis Leprechaun figure from Trick or Treat Studios, along with a wave of toys based on George A. Romero’s zombie classic Day of the Dead.

Other upcoming figures from the company...

The History of the Universal Monsters: ‘The Wolf Man’ Howls Up a New Era of Universal Horror [Halloweenies Podcast]

Last month, the gang sank their fangs into Tod Browning‘s 1931 Dracula. Today, however, they’re leaping a decade forward to howl through George Waggner’s 1941 werewolf classic The Wolf Man starring Lon Chaney Jr.

Topics include: the etymology of the werewolf, a discussion of the first official Universal werewolf movie Werewolf of London, the tragic history of Lon Chaney, Jr. bringing his own pain and life experience to the role, Universal Pictures and the U.S. in the early 40’s, religious subtext, the rise of...

The History of the Universal Monsters: ‘Dracula’ Rises and Hollywood Horror Is Born [Halloweenies Podcast]

This month sees the gang in Transylvania, where they’ve already shared their favorite vampire films, reviewed Robert Eggers‘ reimagining of Nosferatu, and talked all over Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino‘s From Dusk til Dawn. Today is the main event, though, as the Halloweenies offer their signature historical analysis to Tod Browning‘s 1931 Dracula.

Topics include: Browning’s strange and wonderful career, the U.S. in early 30’s (spoiler: not great!), vampire history and lore, early days of Universal and talkies, the 21-year-old nepo baby founder of the Universal Monsters,...

South Park's Creators Made A Forgotten Live-Action Political Sitcom
Image
From April 4 to May 23, 2001, Comedy Central ran eight episodes of a 30-minute sitcom called "That's My Bush!," a sendup of the then-active George W. Bush administration. The premise of the show was as broad as possible. George W. Bush (Timothy Bottoms) was in the White House, but his life was more akin to that of an old-fashioned, 1980s-era workplace sitcom than that of a sitting president. There was a noisy, obnoxious laugh track paired with bright, even TV lighting, making the show look deliberately old-fashioned and artificial. Kurt Fuller played the buttoned-down killjoy Karl Rove, while Carrie Quinn Dolin played Laura Bush.

More than being a spoof of the Bush administration, however (and there was plenty to spoof), "That's My Bush!" was a satire of all-American sitcoms. Show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker (of "South Park" fame) merely used the White House as a backdrop to mock dated sitcom...

‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ Comes to Epic Games Store With New Skin [Trailer]
Les Clowns tueurs venus d'ailleurs (1988)
Teravision Games and IllFonic are bringing Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game to the Epic Games Store for players with the latest patch. Of course, that’s not the only news as part of the 1.7.1 Patch, as the update also introduces another Chiodo-designed cosmetic, along with the expected bug fixes.

Much like on Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series, the Epic Games Store version of Killer Klowns from Outer Space will include crossplay for those wanting to join friends on other platforms.

The other big news is the addition of Bucky, a skin for the Hunter Klown type. Bucky is described as “the galaxy’s toothiest terror” with his comically-sized front teeth. Sadly, you won’t be able to bite anyone with them.

Other notes include fixes for some uncommon bugs, such as where the player would not be replaced by a Bot if the player left the same match more than once,...

Bloody Disgusting’s 10 Best Horror Video Games of 2024
Image
2024 was a bumper year for horror, not only on the silver screen but also in the gaming sphere. In fact, the genre has arguably never been in a healthier state than it has over the last twelve months; with a good mix of Aaa successes, mid-budget sleeper hits, and plucky indies that punched well above their weight. When we could pry ourselves away from compulsive rounds of Balatro, we here at Bloody Disgusting even managed to play some of them!

With 2025 just around the corner, now is the perfect time to celebrate the true standouts. Of course, it was tough to whittle this list down to a top 10, and some favourites inevitably didn’t make the cut. Still, that’s a nice position for us to be in and is a testament to the incredible quality of those that did end up qualifying.

So, without further ado, here are our...

13 Movies That Are So Bad, They’re Good
Image
Every now and then, a movie is so spectacularly, brilliantly, and gloriously bad that our brains catalog it in the “good” category anyway.

It’s hard to define what makes a movie good or bad since it’s all subjective, but for me, a bad movie becomes good when it’s still enjoyable despite being a terrible film.

While there’s plenty of room for debate on what movies are considered bad in the first place, I’ve come up with a handful that I think we can all agree aren’t exactly masterpieces.

(Universal Pictures/Screenshot)

In looking back over some of the worst movies I’ve seen, I asked myself one question to determine if it was so bad, it’s actually good.

Would I watch it again?

When the answer was yes, as it was for all of the following, I figured that was enough to give...

‘The Thing: Remastered’ Is a Satisfying Modern Facelift of a Cult Classic [Review]
Image
Over the past decade or so, the gaming industry has settled on a (quite inflexible) formula for any titles that are based on celebrated horror flicks. No matter the licence in question — be it a feted great like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a cult B-movie on the level of Killer Klowns From Outer Space, or even the straight-to-video Puppet Master series— it seems that the default model for these adaptations nowadays always has to be asymmetrical multiplayer.

In a best-case scenario (ala Friday the 13th), this approach can work wonders and feels like the most appropriate way of bringing the given source material to life. Other times, however, it can be oddly restrictive, and you end up with very singular IPs being contorted out of shape and robbed of their idiosyncrasies. All in service of a trend that’s at ever-increasing risk of getting stale.

Such is the case,...

Henry Thomas and Pat Welsh in E.T., l'extra-terrestre (1982)
Cast of ‘E.T.’ Reflects on the Film That Redefined Modern Americana [Halloweenies Podcast]
Henry Thomas and Pat Welsh in E.T., l'extra-terrestre (1982)
Fact: E.T. is a Halloween movie. Make no mistake about that. The landmark Steven Spielberg blockbuster primarily takes place in October with the most iconic sequence — that being the moon-tinted bike ride, which has become the literal logo for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment — goes down on All Hallow’s Eve. So, consider this episode a timely treat.

At last month’s Creep I.E. Aftermath in Ontario, California, Halloweenies executive producer Michael Roffman and Scare You to Sleep creator Shelby Scott presided over an E.T. reunion panel featuring stars Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Robert MacNaughton, C. Thomas Howell, and Matthew De Meritt. Together, they share personal anecdotes on the film’s shoot and reflect on the way the film went on to shape modern Americana — seemingly overnight.

New ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space’ Dlc Arrives Tomorrow With the Crescent Cove Mall Map
Image
Teravision Games and IllFonic have announced their October Dlc drop for Killer Klowns From Outer Space will arrive tomorrow, October 29, with a new map in The Crescent Cove Mall. Part of the 1.6.0 patch, the team at IllFonic will be streaming a preview of the new map on Illfonic’s YouTube page later today at 5pm Et.

The story for this map sees the invading Klowns flocking to this “vibrant, neon-soaked shopping mall”. Players who are on the Human side should utilize the Mall’s maze-like features to shop and scavenge for any way to survive.

The new map features a movie theater, a bustling boardwalk Arcade, a large parking garage, and a quaint waterfront complete with bumper boats. Players will need to keep a sharp eye out for useful items while weaving their way through the Mall’s stores, corridors, and back rooms. Being exposed in the open areas is highly inadvisable.

From the all-time highs that got them into the genre to the deep, dark doldrums of the series, the four carve through one pumpkin after another. They also discuss why aesthetic is so integral to horror, their podcast roots, and why Dr. Loomis is so much fun to impersonate.

Want more from our friends? We Hate Movies will be covering horror films for the rest of this month, new episodes released on Mondays wherever you get your podcasts. This past week, they hit up Fiddler’s Green to discuss George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead.
