Jamie Foxx talked a lot about his recent near-death experience in his Netflix specialWhat Had Happened Was, but the one thing he didn’t mention was an "eerie" conversation he had with his people right before he nearly died back in 2023. Fox suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke whilst in the midst of shooting Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz, and at the time, no one was sure that the celebrated actor and comedian would pull through.
Speaking with People while promoting the Apple TV+ documentary Number One on the Call Sheet, Foxx revealed the conversation he had with those in his inner circle before he experienced the medical emergency back in April 2023, which left him hospitalized for 20 days. He subsequently faced months of rehab, which saw him having to learn to walk all over again.

In a March 3 Instagram post, singer and rapper Bri Steves wrotes that she was a victim of “mental and sexual abuse from men nearly 20 years older than me” while she was coming up in the music industry and signed to a label and a production company. “They smiled in my face and called me family while running a cycle of control, fear, and manipulation behind closed doors,” Steves’ post says.

Danish-Corsican singer Malu Pierini is set to release her latest single, “Just For Us,” a soulful bossa nova-inspired track that encapsulates the enchanting moments of a first date. The song, following her previous release “Souvenir,” continues to showcase Pierini’s talent for crafting intimate, nostalgic melodies.
“Just For Us” is described as a love song dedicated to the small, often overlooked details that make first dates unique. Pierini’s velvety voice floats over warm, rhythmic bossa beats, complemented by a Hollywood-worthy string arrangement. The overall effect is reminiscent of a 1960s film scene, evoking images of new lovers sailing down the Seine at sunset.
The artist herself reflects on the inspiration behind the song, stating, “There can be something truly special about the first date. The nervous energy, the wardrobe crisis, and everything else that ultimately doesn’t matter when the magic happens, and two people just click.” Pierini emphasizes the preciousness of these moments,...

At first glance, comparing K-on! with The Colors Within may be strange considering how different both shows are in tone: K-on! is comedic, maximalist, and over-the-top, while The Colors Within is quiet, minimalist, and reserved. Yet despite their antithetical tones, these anime have more in common than one might expect. Some of those commonalities are obvious and surface-level. Both anime are about high schoolers who form a band because of their shared love of music and play their original songs at school events and festivals. They even have adult female teachers (Sawako from K-on! and Sister Hiyoshiko from The Colors Within ) who motivate the high school musicians to pursue their passion for music. Both were also once a part of a band themselves. Related: The Colors Within Director Naoko Yamada on Blending Sound and Color in Her Latest Movie However, the deeper and more interesting parallels stem from their shared thematic ideas,...

Though the summer movie season of 1988 would not officially begin until the May 20 opening of Ron Howard and George Lucas' "Willow," movie buffs hungry for spectacle after enduring an unusually weak spring (led by Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice" and Oscar-winning holdovers like "The Last Emperor" and "Moonstruck") were eagerly looking forward weeks in advance of this kickoff and wondering which of the studios' big-ticket offerings would satisfy as wholly as "The Untouchables," "RoboCop," and "Predator" had done the previous year. Amid the glut of mostly unpromising sequels, there were two seemingly sure things (Robert Zemeckis' "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and the Eddie Murphy vehicle "Coming to America") and a smattering of originals toplined by some of the biggest stars in the industry.
And then there was "Die Hard."
As you likely know, John McTiernan's classic was initially viewed by some as a looming folly based on 20th Century Fox...

In the '80s, the cop movie genre was a crowded field full of spectacle over realism. The urban grit of ‘70s morality pictures such as Serpico, The French Connection, and Dirty Harry were replaced by fast-talking comedians as hip detectives (Beverly Hills Cop) and muscle-bound men of action carrying exotic guns (Cobra). But in 1988, Dennis Hopper's Colors did more than revive the drama and intensity of the genre — it told a gritty tale involving real-life gangs.

Italian photographer and art director Oliviero Toscani, who courted controversy with his provocative campaigns for clothing brand Benetton during the 1980s and 90s, has died at the age of 82, his family announced on Monday.
The photographer had revealed over the summer that he was battling a rare disease known as amyloidosis in which a protein called amyloid builds up in vital organs.
Born in Milan in 1942, Toscani was the son of celebrated Corriere della Sera photojournalist Fedele Toscani.
After studying photography and graphic design at Zurich University of the Art in the late 1960s, Toscani started building a career as a fashion photographer with magazines such as Elle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
He shot to international prominence in the early 1980s after Luciano Benetton hired him as art director at his family-owned clothing company.

“On Call” producers Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf describe the new police series, which premiered all of Season 1 Thursday on Prime Video, as “‘Adam 12’ on meth.'”
The latest project from Wolf Entertainment harkens back to the classic 1960s series about a pair of patrolmen not only in subject matter, but in length: Unlike most contemporary dramas, it’s only 30 minutes.
“Attention has never been more valuable of a commodity in this day and age and the half-hour format was really enticing for us. Looking at the 1950s and 1960 primetime schedule, they’re all half-hour procedural dramas. Those don’t really exist today,” Wolf, who is the son of “Law & Order” mega-producer Dick Wolf, told TheWrap.

Dungeons & Dragons has a whole multiverse to tell stories in, which can make for a daunting task for both Dungeon Masters and for prospective TV producers. On the world of Krynn, the Dragonlance setting is full of grand stories about massive Tolkienesque battles between the armies of good and evil. Toril, the home of the Forgotten Realms, is a familiar choice as the setting of the Baldur's Gate games and the novels about fan-favorite dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden. And then there are even stranger settings, like the apocalyptically grim world of Dark Sun.
Yet one question may prove to be more important than that of setting – after all, as a multiverse home to all manner of spellcasters and magical trinkets that can send people from one world to another, settings are just places where events happen. What is far more important, is picking out good villains to menace the party.

Law & Order: Svu is nothing if not long-lasting. The procedural drama is currently on its 26th season, making it the longest-running live-action TV series in American history. You don't get to nearly three decades of dominance without a reliable stable of actors, but one of Svu's most recognizable faces was almost axed after four episodes.
Ice-t was introduced Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola in Law & Order: Svu season 2. He was originally hired on to appear in four episodes, in what would have amounted to a glorified cameo, but the show writers and producers quickly took notice of Ice-t's chemistry with the rest of the cast.

Naoko Yamada delivers another sweet serenade to youth, art, and all their transformative power in The Colors Within. At its heart are three eccentric Japanese teens—upbeat Totsuko, troubled Kimi, and shy Rui. They seem misplaced in their worlds until music brings them together, giving voice to feelings otherwise hard to name.
Totsuko attends a strict Christian school yet sees a colorful “aura” around everyone, a quirk she keeps quiet. One classmate shines especially bright, the soulful Kimi, who soon drops out. Totsuko tracks Kimi to a bookstore, where grinning Rui joins their venture. Each faces pressures, but together they find their way through Yamada’s deft touch.
Visually dazzling thanks to Science Saru’s dreamlike animation, The Colors Within explores empathy, identity, and spirituality with subtle grace. Synesthesia enhances Totsuko’s vivid perspective on a story celebrating friendship and the clarity creativity brings. Yamada deepens timely themes from past...

While the Grammys are often dunked on for being too predictable, the reality is that they usually come with their fair share of surprise nominations. After all, unlike the Oscars, the Grammys don’t really have direct precursors, especially for the general field categories, so figuring out how the industry feels about certain songs and artists involves some guesswork. And predictions end up concentrating around the biggest stars of the year, leaving out some equally impressive genre players who inevitably get in. So if you want to be above most pundits, you should probably consider the following potential dark horses.
SEEMariah Carey on those fickle Grammys: ‘They toy with me’
Black Pumas
This soul-rock duo aren’t strangers to the Grammys, and in particular Grammy surprises. At the 2020 awards, they received a surprising but well deserved nomination for Best New Artist, ahead of a lot of commercial favorites. Then the...

In November 2014, someone on Tumblr submitted an anonymous question to the popular blog Se7enteenblack. “Describe the color black without using the word,” the user wrote, presenting more of a test than a query.
The question went to the person behind the blog: a 20-year-old Halsey. She had released her debut EP Room 93 one month prior and was more than up for the challenge. “Close your eyes. Plug your ears. Hold your breath,” she responded, plunging into darker descriptions with each sentence. “Fall in love with somebody. Give them every single inch of your body.

General Hospital (Gh) spoilers claim Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) could barely breathe when she learned Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) — her mother — had offered herself up on a platter to be Drew Quartermaine’s (Cameron Mathison) public companion.
Letting the people of New York judge for themselves what might be going on between them is enough to drive Willow up the wall. She doesn’t want to think that anyone believes Drew is involved with someone.
She can’t even entertain the thought because all she wants is to be the woman on his arm. At the same time, she doesn’t want to break up her family or shatter Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) heart.
Will opening up to Nina about the second smooch she shared with Drew and the internal struggle she’s facing to combat her feelings help matters, or will Nina use it as an excuse to further insert herself?...

From The Manchurian Candidate and Primary Colors to Uganda’s Bobi Wine: The People’s President, the high-stakes drama of voting season lends itself to film-making
You simply cannot move for high-profile elections lately. The UK’s big decision day is less than three weeks away; France called one last week in the wake of the EU election; my home country of South Africa had a particularly momentous one last month; Mexico just elected its first female president; and the US presidential face-off looms ominously ahead in the autumn. This can be easier to appreciate when you’re not emotionally invested in the outcome, but elections are irresistibly dramatic events, with all their inbuilt narratives of expectation and upset, triumph and downfall – so it’s no surprise that film-makers frequently seize on them.
Hollywood, in particular, is fixated on the vastly tiered labyrinth of American electoral systems, from the trivial to the most high ranking.
