“The ‘open’ part was very important…”: Overwatch 2 Devs Worked Extra-Hard To Introduce the Game’s First Openly Pansexual Hero
Image
There’s no denying the fact that video games are an incredible way for gamers to live out their fantasies and be a part of the story being told. For many in the Lgtbqia community, it’s especially important to find games that allow players to represent themselves.

Although Overwatch had not led with its characters’ sexualities or gender identities outright, it wasn’t long before many of them were revealed as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Overwatch 2 has committed more to this with its brand new character that identifies as a pansexual, meaning they don’t consider gender when choosing their partners.

“I don’t care if they drop runes”: Elden Ring Players Lament 1 Mechanic Not Being Included in Shadow of the Erdtree that Fans Have Been Asking Over 2 Years For
Image
Elden Ring’s rich world can often fool players into believing that they have the freedom to replay some of their best memories. They can, of course, but not without the process of diving into New Game Plus. Or, simply starting all over again.

FromSoftware has tested certain mechanics before that allow players to replay boss fights, and games like Hollow Knight do it too. But this has been missing from Elden Ring, and players would love to have this mechanic in the game.

Elden Ring Players Want to Re-Experience Boss Fights

The arrival of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree greatly expanded the base game’s mechanics. New boss fights, unique weapon additions, and fresh gameplay mechanics. The list can go on! However, there’s one key ingredient missing from this experience that could have otherwise made it twice as enjoyable.

Suggested“Stellar Blade and Elden Ring are…...

The Bizarre Direct-To-Video Horror Film That Launched Mark Ruffalo's Career
Image
On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.

Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

Star Trek: Lower Decks Built An Entire Subplot Around Deep Space Nine's Most Hated Episode
Image
In the latest episode of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," called "In the Cradle of Vexilon," Lieutenants Tendi (Noël Wells), Rutherford (Eugene Cordero), and Mariner (Tawny Newsome) are assigned a maddeningly difficult and menial task by their superior officer, a man they only refer to as Dirk. They are required to comb through hundreds and hundreds of isolinear computer chips, looking for the one that has an error. The room they're in fills with toxic gasses every few minutes, and the temperatures get unbearably hot. After a few hours on the job, the three lieutenants begin to surmise that their job isn't strictly necessary and that Dirk is secretly putting them through some sort of hazing ritual.

They instantly think of their revenge: Make Dirk play Chula.

Earlier in the episode, the trio entered a storage warehouse on the USS Cerritos and found it stocked with items and widgets seen in previous "Star Trek" episodes.

On Candid New Single, Sufjan Stevens Asks “Will Anybody Ever Love Me?”: Stream
Image
Sufjan Stevens has returned with a new single entitled “Will Anybody Ever Love Me?” A strikingly candid composition, the song arrives ahead of his forthcoming new album Javelin, which is due in full on October 6th. Stream the new single below.

Featuring backup vocals from fellow artists adrienne maree brown, Hannah Cohen, and Megan Lui, “Will Anybody Ever Love Me?” is a confessional song, with an almost hymnal quality. Alluding to past sins and the “heartache and misery” he may have caused, Stevens pleads for a deliverance of sorts, seeking to find the answer to the titular question. As he reaches the chorus, he sings: “Will anybody ever love me?/ For good reasons, without grievance, not for sport/ Will anybody ever love me?/ In every season/ Pledge allegiance to my heart/ Pledge allegiance to my burning heart.”

Like Javelin’s previous single, “So You Are Tired,” the new song is...

Woods Announce New Album Perennial, Share Double Lead Singles: Stream
Image
Woods have announced their new album Perennial, due September 15th on Woodsist, with the dual debut singles, “Between the Past” and “White Winter Melody.”

Recorded in the same Stinson Beach, California studio that yielded 2020’s Strange to Explain and produced by bandmates Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere, Perennial was partially inspired by Earl’s realization that “perennial plants and flowers are nature’s loops.” Along with Earl, Taveniere, and long-time members John Andrews and Kyle Forester, the album also features pedal steel work from Connor Gallaher. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Perennial boasts 11 tracks, led by the first two singles “Between the Past” and “White Winter Melody.” The paired release highlights the band’s mix of folk psychedelia and vocals-free constructions, with “White Winter Melody” representing one of the album’s four completely instrumental tracks. Stream both songs below.

Woods most recently released a deluxe edition of Strange to Explain in June 2021. Reflections Vol.

Mulan’ Star a No-Show at D23, but New Footage Shows Phoenix That Replaced Mushu
The film’s star was a no show a week after wading into contentious political waters, but on Saturday at D23 Expo, Disney treated fans to an extended new look at the live-action remake of “Mulan” that showcased plenty of action — the new phoenix.

The new footage was presented by “Mulan” director Niki Caro, who appeared onstage as the film’s sole ambassador at the Anaheim, California, convention. The film’s cast was absent, including star Liu Yifei, who last week came out on the side of Hong Kong police and against the massive protests that shut down Hong Kong’s airport. In response, protesters and their supporters called for a boycott of the film.

But there was no sign of worry about the long-term impact the comments might have on the box office fortunes of “Mulan.” Instead, Disney showed off approximately 5 minutes of footage, mainly from the beginning of the film,...
