    Costume Period Piece Propaganda

Ascendancy (1983) Director: Edward Bennett First Watched: 3/31/25 4/10 Stars

The Troubles- scarcely seen Golden Lion.

More subtle than "Collins" or "Hunger"; pity for the rich rather than accuracy, characters distant and plot dwindles- Costume propaganda?

    Lacking depth.

      Connie Wintour: It's very ugly.

Lt. Ryder: Now you mustn't despise barbed wire. It's cheap, it's effective and they tell me that seen at dawn across no-man's land it even has an austere beauty.

Connie Wintour: This isn't no-man's land. This is my home.
