After Spider-Man’s black suit was revealed to be an alien symbiote, I lost all interest. I have never cared about Venom or Carnage or their symbiote children. The viciousness and exaggerated fangs and tongue are relics of the 1990s that I wish would just go away.
I was not at all surprised Sony went ahead with a Venom movie, but what surprised me was that it received not only good word of mouth but enough box office to receive a sequel. Venom: Let there Be Carnage has the benefit of being mercifully short. As a buddy movie, with the buddies sharing one body, it has some nice lightweight moments that Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) plays well enough.
But, when Brock interviews Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) on Death Row, things turn decidedly darker as the red-hued symbiote emerges. There’s mayhem and blood everywhere, but not much sympathy for the newer,...

Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum gave their fans a Jurassic-sized quarantine reunion on Monday after Neill posted videos of the two delivering duets of several classic songs, including “I Remember You” and “A Fine Romance.”
The Jurassic World: Dominion stars, who are currently filming the Colin Trevorrow-directed film in the U.K., appeared side-by-side in the videos, which ran from just over one-minute to nearly three-minutes in length. Goldblum mostly played the piano and provided back-up vocals to Neill’s take on the 1962 hit “I Remember You,” which he posted to Twitter. The song was famously ...

Actress and former model Candice Bergen strode proudly onto the stage of NYC's Carnegie Hall, flanked by her Murphy Brown co-stars, at CBS' recent fall lineup announcement. "It's so great to have the gang back together," she said. "And to hear Americans cheering for a bunch of journalists." It's the kind of timely wisecrack Murphy often made on the hit 1988 to 1998 sitcom and will continue to make on the show's upcoming reboot. And like her character, Candice always tells it like it is. While recently addressing her youthful good looks, she told People that, "People who don't have it think beauty is a blessing, but actually it sets you apart." And when it comes to her later-in-life weight gain, she wrote in her memoir, A Fine Romance, "I am fat. I live to eat." Murphy Brown...together again. Coming to your neighborhood TV in the fall. Just in time.

We feel you, Candice Bergen. The former model and Murphy Brown star continued her book publicity tour with a stop at the Today show on Tuesday, where she expressed surprise that folks had zeroed in so much on what she wrote about her weight in her new memoir, A Fine Romance, on sale today. "It was a scant reference on page 150 or something," Bergen said, referring to when she called herself "fat." "I was just saying, I don't enjoy eating lunch with some women who only have kale. I just find it limiting...I'd rather not go on, if that's what I have to eat to fuel myself." Sounds as though kale just became the new Dan Quayle... "I'm very...

Candice Bergen is not afraid to admit that she's gone under the knife. At 68 years old, the former Murphy Brown star has confessed to having her "eyes done" and then work on her neck muscles "because TV half-hour lighting can be harsh." But on the heels of her new memoir A Fine Romance being released in bookstores this coming week, would Bergen ever consider getting just a little more work done? "I'm clearly in need," she told People with a laugh. "But I frankly just don't care enough. I don't even get those shots anymore because it hurts so much." She continued, "I hate when my very close friends have obvious work done and they come out too...

Doc Martin season 5
Kieran Kinsella
British TV’s best loved non-Gallifreyan doctor is back in a bumper sized boxset from Acorn Media. Doc Martin: Special Collection – Series 1 – 5 + The Movies includes the entire saga so far. It is the ideal gift for Doc Martin fans who have grown frustrated at the show’s infrequent airings on select PBS stations.
Doc Martin began life as a bit part character in the film Saving Grace. At the time, his last name was Bamford and he kept the same name for two spin-off BSkyB produced made for TV movies. Bamford was a younger, slimmer, happier, more relaxed version of the Doc Martin most of us are now familiar with. The character alterations occurred when BSkyB’s drama unit went the way of the Dodo and ITV chiefs decided to develop their own version of the show. It was decided that the Doc should...

With her seventh Bond film about to hit the big screen, Judi Dench shows no sign, even at 77, of curbing her enormous drive. She talks about painting landscapes, playing M and why she hates to be alone on stage
At one point sitting opposite Dame Judi Dench over a pot of tea at a hotel in Covent Garden, I find myself asking her if she has that recurrent dream, the one in which you are on a stage and the curtain is about to go up but can't remember any of your lines or the part you are supposed to play. It seems, as I'm saying it, a bit ridiculous to ask that question of Dench, who not long ago was by a margin voted "the greatest actor of all time" in an exhaustive poll of the readers of The Stage magazine. She is a woman who has hardly put a foot wrong,...

Hollywoodnews.com: Following the trend of every able-bodied actor trying to get a piece of ‘Glee’ popularity, Katie Holmes has become the latest celeb to jump on the show’s bandwagon, agreeing to a 5-show guest spot on the Fox hit show.
Apparently, Katie has been working on this deal this since Glee’s second season, milking a friendship with actress Dianna Agron (aka preggers cheerleader Quinn Fabray) to get on good terms with Glee creator, Ryan Murphy.
Even though Katie isn’t necessarily a singing novice, having done minor singing spots on everything from her old school Joey Potter days on Dawson’s Creek to her recent rendition of Whatever Lola Wants at A Fine Romance Benefit back in May, we don’t know if she’s really got the right singing chops to be on par with Glee’s musical powerhouses.
We’ll wait and see, but in the meantime,...

Tom Killed it at the MTV Movie Awards as his Tropic Thunder character. Talk about fancy footwork!
Who knew Tom Cruise had such amazing moves? The A-list actor showed he could truly shake what his mama gave him at the MTV Movie Awards as his Tropic Thunder character, big-mouthed Hollywood producer Les Grossman. In fact, I thought his hilarious dance-off with Jennifer Lopez was a million times better than his tame performance with wife Katie Holmes at a charity dinner May 1.
The 47-year-old superstar was definitely the crowd favorite June 6 when he reprised his Tt role. Breaking it down live in front of million of people, the unusually polished A-list actor bumped and grinded to J. Enjoying a Mother's day weekend outing with her daughter, Katie Holmes took Suri Cruise shopping in Los Angeles, California on Saturday (May 8).

Last weekend, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise hit the stage to take part in the "A Fine Romance" benefit for the Motion Picture and Television Fund. Taking a cue from Damn Yankees (the 1955 movie, not the Nuge band unfortunately, as apt as it would be to see her belting out "High Enough"), Holmes sung "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets" to Cruise on stage.
Wrapped in a slinky black dress, Holmes sashays about, taunting and pushing hubby Cruise around as he reacts in his usual big-smile-guffaw way. The performance comes off flat, heavily planned, and not the least bit charismatic or romantic. Jezebel felt similarly, describing it as not feeling "right. Highly awkward, even." (Holmes had more chemistry singing with Chad Michael Murray as a kid.) Considering the subject matter of the song, one can't help but wonder if this was nothing more than a PR move to speak out against...

Scientologist power couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes recently put on a sassy performance of "Whatever Lola Wants" from Damn Yankees at the A Fine Romance benefit gala, and luckily for us someone had the foresight to record the little number for posterity. Holmes was joined onstage by the "Top Gun" star as she sang the showtune "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets" at Los Angeles' A Fine Romance Benefit for The Motion Picture and Television Fund on Saturday, May 1.
