Netflix’s New ‘Ghostbusters’ Animated Series Revealed at Annecy with Ben Hibon as Showrunner

Netflix has shared some fresh news about its upcoming Ghostbusters animated series during the Annecy 2025 Film Festival. The show is now fully in production, though there’s still no official release date announced. This series is part of Netflix’s Family Spectacle lineup and is being made with Sony Pictures Animation.

Dominique Bazay, Netflix’s Director of Animation for Families and Kids, introduced the series at Annecy. She explained that Ghostbusters is grouped with other big family shows like Minecraft, Clash of Clans, and Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. Bazay said the goal is to create animation that appeals to everyone, from kids to grandparents, whether they watch together or on their own.

She said, “These spectacle shows are a giant bet for us. We want to make spectacular animation for the entire family, for parents, for kids, for teens, for grandparents, for young adults, whether they watch together or apart.

Princ Films Boards Slavek Horak’s Biopic ‘Havel’ for EFM (Exclusive)

Princ Films has taken international rights to Slávek Horák’s “Havel,” a biopic about the Czech playwright, dissident and his country’s president Vaclav Havel, and will launch sales at the European Film Market.

The film recently received 14 nominations for the Czech Lion Awards, the leading Czech film awards, across all major categories including film, director, screenplay, and all acting categories. It also received two nominations for the Czech Film Critics’ Awards, best actor and actress.

“Havel” premiered at the Visegrad Cinema Days, run by the Kyiv Film Festival in the Ukraine, and went onto play a slew of festivals including Heartland (Indiana), where it was a finalist for best narrative feature, Montreal Independent, where Horák won best director, Rome Independent, where it won best feature, Warsaw, Tallinn Black Nights, São Paulo, Cottbus and Zagreb.

Aleem Khan’s UK drama world premiered at the BFI London Film Festival

Paris-based The Bureau Sales has unveiled more deals on Aleem Khan’s UK drama After Love, which received its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in October.

It has been acquired for Italy (Teodora), Switzerland (Frenetic), Greece (Strada), Australia (Madman), Greece (Strada) and South Korea (Pancinema).

Previous deals include to France (Rezo Films) and UK-Ireland (BFI Distribution).

The Bureau is producing the feature, with backing from BFI and BBC Films.

Joanna Scanlan has signed to star in After Love, the debut feature from writer-director Aleem Khan, a former Screen UK Star of Tomorrow, which is now in production in Kent, London and Calais.

It is produced by Matthieu de Braconier of London and Paris-based outfit The Bureau and is backed by BBC Films and the BFI.
