The 'Independence Day' dance sequence was choreographed by Patsy Swayze. 'Liar's Moon' (1982) was the first theatrical feature film she choreographed after having done the dance scenes in the John Travolta movie Urban Cowboy (1980). She was the mother of Patrick Swayze whom would find big fame at the end of the same 1980s decade this film was released with Dirty Dancing (1987).
The carnival sequence in the picture featured about two thousand extras and background artists according to an article published in the 9th January 1981 edition of show-business trade-paper 'The Hollywood Reporter'.
The meaning of the movie's title is as follows according to the 'Answers' website: A 'Liar's Moon' is a moon with a ring around it, sometimes with clouds partially obscuring it . According to myth, legend, folklore, this bodes ill of any sort. Sometimes a liar's moon can indicate bad weather or stormy times ahead. It is considered to be a bad omen and never a good omen. To be born under a liar's moon is considered to have been born under some kind of falsity or falsehood as with a deep family secret or a skeleton in a closet. ''This is referred to in the movie of the same name . . . two young people deeply in love who were told never to see each other again . . . but no one ever told them *why*.''
