To do a little fun sci-fi time-crunching, Ridley Scott's 1979 film "Alien" takes place in the year 2122, which was, by the "Star Trek" timeline, about 30 years before the events of "Star Trek: Enterprise." James Cameron's "Aliens" skips ahead to 2179, about 25 years after "Enterprise," but still about 75 years before anything from the original "Star Trek" series. Jean-Pierre Jeunet's "Alien: Resurrection" skips ahead again, this time to the year 2379, which was the same year "Star Trek: Nemesis" took place.
Of course, the "Alien" movies and the "Star Trek" shows definitely take place in separate universes. The "Alien" movies are marked by their cynicism, usually depicting shifty, profit-driven company men who aim to retrieve alien xenomorphs for nefarious purposes, no matter the human cost the retrieval requires. "Star Trek," meanwhile, is marked by its optimism, depicting a future wherein a galactic Federation ensures peace, study, and diplomacy throughout the cosmos. One...

Ever since reality shows took the television world by storm, there have been some truly strange shows from the genre. For example, there have been trashy reality shows, bizarre reality shows, and there was even a reality show that was so offensive it was banned after three episodes. On the other hand, there have also been celebrated dating reality shows and other reality shows that make viewers get in a better mood.
Over the years, Hallmark has made so many feel-good movies that fans want to know how much the actors get paid. Hallmark has also recently branched out into making reality shows, including a competition show. Now that fans know that Hallmark also produced its first reality dating show, they want to know everything they can about it.

King Crimson‘s seminal 1974 album Red is receiving an 50th anniversary expanded reissue on vinyl and CD/Blu-Ray, arriving October 25th.
The new reissue opens the vaults on the Red sessions, with the 2-cd/2-Blu-Ray package “representing all material to survive” from the original tapes.
The first disc includes a new Stereo mix from Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, as well as new instrumental mixes by Wilson. The prog musician/producer undertook remixes of Red back in 2009 — among his earliest remix work in the field — and was brought back to reprise that role 15 years later.
“What I hear on Red is the best representation of [the] ’72-74-era line-up in the studio,” said Wilson in the press release. “In effect this is a power trio record and their sound is just huge.”
Additional bonus material is contained on Disc 2, including new “Elemental Mixes” by longtime King Crimson producer and manager David Singleton.

Drylongso (Cauleen Smith)
Writer-director Cauleen Smith made Drylongso when she was in college, 25 years ago, premiering at Sundance in 1998. She has gone on to create dozens of short films, art installations, and more experimental work, focused on similar themes of feminism, racial violence, and Black communities. The low-key hangout movie should have been a stepping stone for Smith, but, as with many other works by Black female filmmaking of the last half-century, it fell out of circulation. – Michael F. (full interview)

Fingernails (Christos Nikou)

Lucifer have announced their fifth studio album, Lucifer V, and shared the video for the track “At the Mortuary (Halloween Edit).”
The tubes are warm and the tone is thick on the Swedish band’s latest cut, which hits a vintage sweet spot that falls somewhere between Heart and the Nwobhm sound of yore. Vocalist Johanna Platow Andersson stakes a commanding presence throughout the track, curling her melodies around the twin-guitar riffage of Linus Björklund and Martin Nordin.
The accompanying video provides an element of B-movie horror that’s just in time for Halloween weekend. The minimal black-and-white clip sets the stage for what appears to be a continuing series, complete with a twist ending (spoiler alert: it involves zombies) and the obligatory “To Be Continued…” screen.
Lucifer will be hitting the road this fall for a North American tour alongside fellow occult rockers Coven. The trek kicks off November...

Self-described “Satanic doo-wop” act Twin Temple have announced their sophomore album, God Is Dead, arriving October 13th. The lead single “Burn Your Bible” can be streamed now.
The tag “Satanic doo-wop” is pretty spot on: Twin Temple dabble in a blend of soul, R&b, and dark cabaret that’s steeped in blasphemy.
As heard on “Burn Your Bible,” the duo of Zachary James and Alexandra James possess both the necessary self-awareness and musicianship to pull of such an act, sounding something akin to a witchy Amy Winehouse. The lo-fi mono-channel production also adds a macabre, sepia-toned allure.
“Despite relentless death threats and moralizing, our allegiance to Satan and the golden oldies remains unwavering,” stated the band in a press announcement for the LP. “God Is Dead is our most blasphemous, horny and painstakingly period-correct work to date. Saturated with the blood of babies, and forged in the ashes of burning churches,...

Lucifer season 6 is the final season of the hit series, with no plans for a season 7. The showrunners have stated that season 6 resolves the story and there are no plans for further episodes. There will be no crossover between Lucifer and the Arrowverse, as the Arrowverse is coming to an end and there are no plans for Lucifer to appear in any non-Arrowverse DC projects. While there are currently no spinoffs in development, the showrunners have discussed the possibility of an animated series or a musical based on Lucifer. There is still interest in exploring the character in different formats.
Lucifer season 6 marked the end of Netflix's hit series, but is there still a continuation for the Devil and his human friends planned for the future — perhaps Lucifer season 7? Lucifer season 6 picks up after season 5's cliffhanger where Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) became God. But the Devil has good...
