The film was originally titled "Dhuan Dhuan".
Poonam Dhillon was offered the film but turned it down .
After Silsila (1981), Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha appeared in a scene in this film. This one was the last film to be seen together.
The film marks the beginning of the iconic pair of Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval. They went on to work together in many movies like Saath Saath (1982), Katha (1983), Kissise Na Kehna (1983), Rang Birangi (1983) and Faasle (1985). Their last film together was Listen... Amaya (2013) in 2013. Coincidentally in the same year remake of Chashme Baddoor released, directed by David Dhawan.
Initially, director Onir bought the remake rights in 2008 but later backed out.
