Call of Duty Is Finally Fixing the One Thing That’s Driven Me Crazy Since 2023
Image
I’ve been playing Call of Duty for years, and since 2023, one thing has consistently made my eyes twitch: Cod HQ. That bloated, storage-devouring monster that Activision forced upon us has been the bane of my existence.

If you’ve been grinding multiplayer or sweating it out in Warzone, you know exactly what I’m talking about. HQ shoved a part of every Call of Duty game onto your drive, whether you played them or not. Massive file sizes, endless updates, and those infuriating restart loops became routine torture.

But yesterday changed everything. On July 29, Activision finally announced that Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III are breaking free from the HQ prison, becoming standalone downloads. And so, for the first time since this nightmare began, I felt genuine relief:...

Image
The Helldivers 2 community’s always been driven by an unwavering mission: to spread democracy to the furthest parts of the galaxy. While they remain focused on that mission, their requests for quality-of-life improvements have been numerous.

Some are wild, others are essential for a richer experience. One feature that has been long-requested is armor customization. Fans have been asking for it, for years, and with the game leaving exclusivity and launching on Xbox this August 26, there’s no better time for Arrowhead to finally deliver on this highly anticipated feature.

Why Xbox Launch is the Time for Armor Customization in Helldivers 2

Players’ call for armor customization in Helldivers 2 has only grown louder and louder as the weeks and updates have gone by. From discussing how they want the feature to change the appearance of their gear to recommending ways to implement the feature, Helldivers have done everything.

10 Times Battlefield Had Better Weapon Designs Than Call of Duty
Image
The age-old rivalry between Battlefield and Call of Duty has somewhat receded in recent times, as both franchises have not had the best reputation lately. However, while Call of Duty’s popularity largely exceeds EA Dice’s military Fps, there are some elements the latter did better.

In the 2010s, both series faced each other head-on, and competition breeds similarities, not to mention the fact that some of the games in both franchises had the same settings. So unsurprisingly, weapons that appeared in CoD titles also had their Battlefield counterparts.

But, in some cases, EA Dice outshone Call of Duty’s weapon designs fair and square, and like it or not, Activision couldn’t catch up in these instances. So, let’s look at the 10 times Battlefield had better weapon designs than its competition, CoD.

1. F2000 – Battlefield 3 & 4

Battlefield 6’s Leaked Movement Mechanic Is Exactly What Call of Duty Got Wrong
Image
With all the leaks surrounding Battlefield 6, the title feels like it’s gonna be a return to form by EA. Every new day brings a fresh set of leaks, and this time it’s about the movement mechanic that was discovered in a leaked build for the upcoming military shooter.

It seems like EA Dice and Battlefield Studios have learned from where they went wrong with the abomination that was Battlefield 2042 to make a title that serves as a keen reminder of how good the series used to be in the early days.

The new movement mechanic for Battlefield 6 feels unique yet familiar, similar to Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4, which is a step in the right direction, and we hope the developers can keep this up to deliver a definitive Battlefield experience to the awaiting players.

Call Of Duty Has Announced Its Weirdest Crossover Yet
Image
The continuous cycle of Call of Duty releases results in a continuous drip of new content coming to the monolithic first-person shooter, but its newly announced crossover skins are the strangest yet. With Black Ops 7 on the horizon, the current content cycle for last year's Black Ops 6 and the ongoing Warzone is winding down, which typically leads to more outlandish cosmetics.

Call of Duty has announced that Beavis and Butt-Head, of Beavis and Butt-Head fame, will be coming to Season 04 Reloaded as equippable character skins. Mike Judge's iconic characters hail from their eponymous 90s animated show, appearing in Call of Duty decked out in tactical gear and rendered in a 2D art style that makes them oddly stand out. Operator skins becoming silly has been a contentious topic for years with CoD, but Beavis and Butt-Head is a truly unexpected crossover.

Helldivers 2’s Most Useless Feature Is Still in the Game and No One Knows Why
Image
Ah, Helldivers 2, a game full of bullets, alien creatures, and an unrelenting sense of camaraderie… until you get sabotaged by a cheater. You think you’ve got this, right? A rogue player’s wrecking your missions? Oh boy, it’s time to write an essay about their deeds and report them! But wait, nope.

The report system is as broken as your last team’s strategy. Sure, you can block the cheater, but good luck getting them out of the game entirely. That’s the reason some fans are wondering why we’re all stuck in this weird limbo where cheaters roam free without a care in the world.

A feature that’s more buggy than the bugs you’re supposed to kill

Let’s break this down. You’re in Helldivers 2, feeling good about your team’s progress, when suddenly… Bam! Someone’s griefing, cheating, or just causing utter chaos.

Battlefield 6’s Rumored Weapon Variety Is Exactly the Edge EA Needs to Topple Call of Duty
Image
Recently, an image began to surface on the internet, sparking rumors that Battlefield 6 will start off with an impressive roster of weapons. This is pretty unusual for a Battlefield game, as they don’t generally add too many weapons at launch. However, the sixth installment in EA’s world-renowned shooter franchise is all set to break that stereotype.

When it comes to Fps games, we automatically presume that Call of Duty has the most guns. From what it seems, though, the upcoming Battlefield 6 may beat CoD this time with its enormous list of weapons.

Battlefield 6 may have over 50 weapons at launch

Fans don’t usually believe in the weapon quality of Battlefield games, all thanks to the lack of attention paid by EA and Dice. This is mainly because the list of weapons added in Battlefield 4 was absolutely redundant.

Not all weapons added to this game were properly finished, giving them a poor look.

Why a ‘Boring’ Zombies Season Could Be the Best Move for Call of Duty’s Future
Image
Ever since its launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has had a bumpy ride. This is thanks to the various controversies it has brought along with the usual lobby full of cheaters. From AI-generated artwork drama to awkward ad placements and even fan-fueled freakouts over Zombies mode, it hasn’t been smooth sailing.

The latest “scandal”? Season 6 might be… quiet. With Janus Towers set to wrap up the Zombies storyline in Season 5, many fans feel let down by what they assumed would be more post-launch maps. But here’s the twist: this “boring” final season might be exactly what the game’s future needs.

A silent season isn’t a broken promise

Let’s get this straight: Treyarch never promised a new Zombies map every season. The expectation came from a mix of early rapid-fire releases, internet rumors, and good ol’ fashioned community speculation, with no official roadmap.

The belief...

Call Of Duty May Bring Back Divisive Feature, According To Datamine
Image
2025's Call of Duty has yet to be officially revealed, but Black Ops 6 dataminers think they've uncovered plans to bring wallrunning back to the series. Last year's well-received Black Ops 6 already made some significant changes to traversal by implementing Omnimovement, but the return of wallrunning would drastically change locomotion once more.

Videos have begun surfacing online showing players wallrunning in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone via files added to the games in the Season 3 Reloaded update, per Dexerto. It's presumed that said files were added in order to test a wallrunning feature for Black Ops 7, though this is unconfirmed, and the mechanics only appear to be accessible via an exploit. Wallrunning had previously featured in multiple CoD titles, including Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare, but proved divisive.

“He is coming to hunt you”: Oil Up, Call of Duty Won’t Release a Diddy Skin So Fans Have Made One
Image
Cosmetics unlocks and purchases are an integral part of any modern-day multiplayer title. One of the franchises that has fully embraced this trend is Call of Duty. Activision has given us some incredible Operator skins to purchase and continues to deliver.

Over the years, we’ve seen fans demanding tons of Operator skins in Call of Duty games, such as John Wick, Master Chief, and Doom Slayer. Activision wouldn’t agree to such requests, but that hasn’t stopped their demands from reaching the next level. Now, they want to see Sean Combs, aka Diddy, in the Fps franchise.

Obviously, there’s absolutely no shot that a Diddy skin becomes a reality. However, fans have taken it upon themselves to bring the rapper into Call of Duty in an ironic way.

Battlefield 6 Is Doomed if Their Battle Royale Mode Repeats a Horrendous Call of Duty: Warzone Mistake
Image
Imagine you’re in the middle of a battle with your fellow soldiers, and when you look towards your enemies, you see Santa Claus spraying bullets while wearing his red jacket. Hard to imagine? Well, that is exactly what happened in Battlefield 2042 when they had to quickly pull back the Father Winter skin in 2022.

Battlefield has always been about war-like, gritty, and bleak scenarios, and although the players want that immersion of an actual war zone (hah!), it is often broken with the skins that are provided to them. This is especially noticeable in Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone. Let’s delve deeper into this and find out more about this.

Call of Duty Dev Makes Ironclad Reasoning Why You Shouldn’t Blame CoD for Young Men Acting Out
Image
The Call of Duty series is the most accurate portrayal of a warlike scenario in any video game. The franchise presents an authentic representation of modern-day warfare events that are filled with violence and aggression, and many people deem it as the reason why many teenagers and young adults are getting out of hand.

But these behaviors are largely unrelated to not just Call of Duty but many other video games that showcase violence, brutality, or destruction. One CoD developer has called out the people who blame CoD for violent behavior in young men and defended the franchise as well as other violent video games.

Call of Duty’s Worst Habit Is Wrecking the Delta Force Campaign Experience by Penalising You for Poor Accuracy

Do you remember playing Call of Duty as a kid? All the reloading after killing one enemy, picking up enemy guns because they look more interesting. Well, none of that is going to fly in the Delta Force – Black Hawk Down campaign. It’s been three days since the campaign came out and people don’t like it because it’s too hard.

Unlike what we’ve become familiar with in Cod’s campaigns, you can’t pick up ammo from enemies or switch guns. You also don’t have any mid-mission save points and the enemy AI is extremely difficult. And a lot of that has caught many players off guard. But is it really a bad thing? It’s a free campaign so what’s all the fuss about? It was clearly designed...

After Skirting the Rules for Few Months, Activision Finally Comes Clean About Using AI in Black Ops 6
Image
Remember last year when we were accusing Activision of using AI in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6? Well, the publisher has finally come out and officially admitted it. If you look at the game’s Steam page, there’s a neat little disclaimer now.

Only took them this long.| Image Credit: Treyarch

But it really should’ve been there from the start because Steam doesn’t even allow it. The company didn’t even admit it in a public statement or announcement, and now we’re just left to wonder what comes next. It’s good that we finally got confirmation but what is the extent of AI’s role in game development and why did the devs wait this long?

Black Ops 6 Is Cashing In on Nostalgia as Iconic Battle Royale Map Likely to Return in Season 3 but With Major Changes
Image
With player counts constantly diminishing day by day, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is kind of in a bad condition right now, and the game’s battle royale parallel is in an even worse state.

It is currently riddled with hackers and harbors one of the most toxic fanbases in the entire gaming industry. Although the multiplayer battle royale published by Activision was made to bring Cod back to relevancy, recently the game has even failed to do that.

But a tweet from Call of Duty‘s official X (formerly Twitter) page, has confirmed the comeback of an old map from Modern Warfare 3 which might give players a whiff of nostalgia. Of course, we are talking about Verdansk.

Despite Unceremoniously Shutting Down, XDefiant Surpassed Apex Legends to Become the Fastest Title to Hit 1 Million Players
Image
Ubisoft has been in rocky waters as of late, with multiple titles such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows facing a massive number of setbacks. One of the more tragic things to happen was the closure of the popular free-to-play first-person competitive shooter, XDefiant.

This is in spite of XDefiant amassing a rather impressive number of players at launch – overshadowing even the likes of Apex Legends. However, player counts do not mean everything, and there is a lot more to attribute to the failure of this particular live service title.

As revealed by Insider Gaming in an exclusive feature back in May, 2024, Ubisoft’s then recently launched XDefiant managed to hit a major milestone during launch day – nearly 1 million unique players logging into the game.

“There weren’t any real world stakes left to tell in that world”: Call of Duty Devs Revealed the Real Reason Modern Warfare 2019 Isn’t a Remake
Image
Whenever we talk about first-person shooters, we can never go past Call of Duty, because arguably this franchise is one of the greatest in this genre. From simplified mechanics and a breathtaking storyline to outstanding realism and an expansive campaign experience along with multiplayer fun, this series has everything.

There’s no doubt that the Og Modern Warfare series (2007-2011) is regarded as the best gaming series not only in the CoD history but also in the entire gaming fraternity as well. There were efforts from Activision to reach those heights with another Modern Warfare trilogy starting from 2019 to 2023, but it was impossible to touch that legacy. However, there’s always an evergreen question, “Is the latest Mw series a remake or a reboot of the Og series?” The Infinity Ward devs have the answer.

“I want this in game”: A Simple Ui Change in Black Ops 6 Would Make Zombies More Immersive and Improve Gameplay Experience
Image
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has a major problem with its user interface stylization, and appears quite a bit cluttered at times. This is quite a common complaint, and players have been clamoring for an updated Ui for quite some time now.

Until Treyarch and Activision officially release any sort of updates to the Hud though, this problem is likely to persist, and fans will be forced to take up creative liberty and design their own interfaces – something which the community has already been up to.

Call of Duty Tried Replicating a Popular Fortnite Feature Which Turned Into an Issue That Haunts Them to This Day
Image
In the live service genre of the video game industry, cosmetics and skins have become the bread and butter of monetization for games and studios. And one way where studios have really innovated in this aspect are collaboration skins with popular content creators. Fortnite made leaps in this area with its Icon Series skins.

In 2023, Activision attempted to replicate this success with Call of Duty by making a skin for popular content creator Nickmercs. This backfired after the streamer was caught in a controversy which led to the removal of the skin. After this TimTheTatman requested the removal of his own skin, and since then Activision has stopped adding content creator skins to CoD games.

For Call of Duty Fans, These Are the Greatest 6 Back to Back Releases in Gaming History: “Imagine if they all got remastered…”
Image
Call of Duty is regarded as one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time. For those who started playing video games in the early 2000s, most of their first titles were Cod for sure. The games not only featured stunning visuals in their contemporary periods but also offered probably the best controls and mechanisms.

Apart from these, the game brings out raw emotions from the fans. Be it Soap’s death or killing Makarov, this long-hailed franchise is about pure sentiments. However, things didn’t go the way they were supposed to, because the franchise faced unreal deterioration over the years. Black Ops 6 is here, but it can never surpass the legacy of the six consecutive Cod titles, which made the franchise what it is today.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Sales Show Xbox Made The Right Move To Put Indiana Jones And The Great Circle On PS5
Image
It is no small secret that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is proving to be one of the most popular games of the year. It's doing tremendously well in terms of sales and critical reception, which is a refreshing return to form for the franchise. After 2023's MW3 controversy, it's great to see passion poured back into Call of Duty again and see it back on track.

However, it's not all perfect, as while Black Ops 6 is doing better than MW3 in terms of player count, its sales are actually down. It's also selling far better on PlayStation than it is on Xbox. Of course, Cod as a franchise is still as strong as ever, even despite Black Ops 6's issues, but the decrease in sales is worrying for other Xbox titles, especially the single-player exclusives.

Why Black Ops 6's Better Split Screen Integration Made It My First CoD Game
Image
I have played my fair share of shooters in the many years I've been gaming, but I have never played a single Call of Duty game. This changed with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and it's all thanks to split screen. The Zombies mode of Black Ops 6 is the very first time I've ever played a CoD game, and it made me realize that a functional split-screen mode may be the way for Activision to draw in brand-new players like myself.

My husband and his friends have been playing Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 since they launched, but the release of Black Ops 6 is the first time I've been able to join in on the action. The title isn't the first CoD game to have split-screen multiplayer, but it's the first in recent years to implement a (somewhat) working version of it. The inclusion of local co-op finally helped me to break into the series,...

Call of Duty Patch Notes Cause Trust Issues Among Players After Removed Challenge Keeps Appearing in Black Ops 6 Zombies & Multiplayer Matches

The latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has left players questioning the reliability of the game’s patch notes. Recently, developers Treyarch released an update for the game that removed a challenge that required players to get 50 eliminations with no weapon attachments.

Despite this, players are still seeing the challenge appear in both Zombies and multiplayer modes. Understandably, players are confused as to why this was a straight-up lie. With Season 1 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone set to launch soon, players are questioning the developer’s transparency and reliability.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Has Some Weird Glitches

This inconsistency has led players to accuse Treyarch of neglecting quality control. Reddit user Skywave_KR voiced this frustration, sharing that although the patch notes claimed the challenge was gone, they still encountered it in multiplayer sessions

Black Ops 6 Sees a Rise in Toxicity as Rage Reporting and Shadow Bans Are Becoming a Menace in the Community

StarCraft 2 On Xbox Game Pass Revisits My Favorite Game Of All Time, But There's One Big Caveat I Didn't Plan On
Image
With the introduction of StarCraft 2 and StarCraft: Remastered to Xbox Game Pass, a whole new generation of gamers can now enjoy the pinnacle of real-time strategy games. For years, I've sat back and watched my favorite gaming genre slowly wither away into a husk of its former glory, with SC2 and its expansions standing as the defining game in the genre perfecting the mechanics since the release of the original StarCraft, all the way back in 1998.

I'm an Og player who started as a Reaver-dropping fanatic on the ranked ladder in my pre-teens, so when I booted up the Xbox App on PC to check out the new games on Game Pass, I was pretty happy to see the StarCraft games were included. After all, even though it is hands-down my favorite game of all time, it's been years since I've actually sat down to look over the meta builds...
