Look for Tony Bill in this early role...

also Cyd Charisse and Edie Adams; the title is not exactly spell-binding, but some aspects of L.A. are realistically portrayed.

Since this was 1980, it was still relatively new to address the escort business(until we saw Candice Bergen, as the "Mayflower Madam").

Susan Anspach is believable, as a single mother trying to live on her own, trying to get work as an actor, finding many men with aspirations, but no financial security (as played by Tony Bill). While the premise is not original, the story of finding work as an actor in Los Angeles; the players are sympathetic, and some scenes of L.A. in the early 80's are interesting- It must have been nice to see Hollywood Boulevard while it was well-maintained, and cleaner.

Other films along the same story line would be "Death Ride to Osaka" with a very young Jennifer Jason Leigh as a nubile actress, also getting in a difficult situation. Recommended for anyone interested in the business. 7/10

Campy made-for-TV movie melodrama

Campy made-for-TV movie about single mother Susan Anspach moonlighting as an escort to make ends meet. She goes on various dates in the evenings, while trying to maintain her real estate job, her relationship with her hunky boyfriend, and also raise her daughter. When Anspach tries to quit her new job, her madame begins harassing her and one of her clients begins stalking her. There's a pretty good supporting cast of semi-famous actors including Tony Bill, Kevin McCarthy, Edie Adams, Mary Frann, Todd Susman, and the great Cyd Charisse in a Guest Starring role. Overall, this is TV- movie quality of a Sirkian melodrama that is best enjoyed on an ironic so-bad-it's- good camp level.
