I watched "Grzeszny zywot Franciszka Buly" (The Sinful Life of Franciszek Bula) in the cinema in 1980 and also quite recently on Polish TV. I wasn't thrilled by it, though it kept me interested, and trying to be objective, I cannot give it a rating that is less than 7. I didn't like the fact that it had no plot or character development. In my opinion it was also too left-wing and not balanced enough in terms of respect for all ethnic groups in Silesia. So the film is definitely not for everyone, but at the same time it is very interesting and has many memorable scenes. The Silesian language and many non-professional actors are used, which gives a sense of complete authenticity. The specificity of the landscapes and the general atmosphere of this region are also wonderfully captured. Thus, it is impossible to call "The Sinful Life of Franciszek Bula" an average film and not to notice its many outstanding features.
