Under standard episode rules, the highest score reached on the Australian version of Sale of the Century was $200 by David Poltorak in episode 1443. He also answered the most questions correctly in the same episode - 35 out of 55. He would end up as one of the show's question writers some years later.
In 1995, two pilot episodes of a French version of the show were taped in Australia with a French host, hostess, audience and contestants. The show went well, despite the fact that the host snapped his Achilles tendon prior to recording.
The cash jackpot system (which started at $50,000 and increased by $2,000 each night until won) was introduced in 1982.
Robert Kusmierski set a world record in 1992 for the biggest amount of cash and prizes won on a game show - $AU676,790 (including a $508,000 jackpot, the highest reached on any version of the show).
Ron Neate was the show's voice-over man for the first ten episodes. Pete Smith later took over as the voice-over man and remained with the show until the end.
