It is just about an immutable truth that Michael Caine is doing God-level work as Ebenezer Scrooge in "The Muppet Christmas Carol." The 1992 adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic is, partly because it arrived in theaters soon after the tragic and untimely passing of Muppet creator Jim Henson, a surprisingly straightforward take on the holiday story of a grouchy and rich old Londoner who gets a revival of the human spirit after experiencing ghostly visions. With Henson no longer in the mix, the Muppets themselves (especially those originally performed by the great man) take something of a back seat in the film.
Of course, if you are making an adaptation of "A Christmas Carol," focusing on the performer playing Scrooge does make pretty obvious sense. And Michael Caine, by that point an Oscar winner for his supporting work in Woody Allen's "Hannah and Her Sisters," seemed then and now...

Exploring the vaults, libraries, and digital collections of Disney films can reveal a horde of obscure titles many haven't heard of. While classics like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and even cult hits like Tron have established Disney's reputation as one of the most influential storytellers of the past century, there are countless productions that time has forgotten. Not every Disney movie is destined for greatness, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth a second look. Whether they're good, bad, or simply forgettable, each Disney film offers insight into the eras, cultures, and creative minds that shaped them.

Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.
According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.
Here is a list of movie titles that are said to be gone from Disney+ in Emea, compiled by Drew Ryan.
A Tale of Two Critters
America’s Heart and Soul
Angry Sky (ESPN)
Babes in Toyland...

Disney+ also posted all of the films and TV shows coming to the streaming service on a super long Twitter thread, which I included below the trailer. As you’ll see there’s a ton of stuff that will be available that will make Disney fans happy. Gargoyles and several other classic 90s animated series are among them along with a lot of old weird films that have been pulled out of the Disney vault.
If you don’t want to watch the trailer or scroll through the Twitter feed, I shared the full list of titles for you. Check everything out below and let us...

Ron Moody as Fagin in 'Oliver!' based on Charles Dickens' 'Oliver Twist.' Ron Moody as Fagin in Dickens musical 'Oliver!': Box office and critical hit (See previous post: "Ron Moody: 'Oliver!' Actor, Academy Award Nominee Dead at 91.") Although British made, Oliver! turned out to be an elephantine release along the lines of – exclamation point or no – Gypsy, Star!, Hello Dolly!, and other Hollywood mega-musicals from the mid'-50s to the early '70s.[1] But however bloated and conventional the final result, and a cast whose best-known name was that of director Carol Reed's nephew, Oliver Reed, Oliver! found countless fans.[2] The mostly British production became a huge financial and critical success in the U.S. at a time when star-studded mega-musicals had become perilous – at times downright disastrous – ventures.[3] Upon the American release of Oliver! in Dec. 1968, frequently acerbic The...

Oscar nominated actor Ron Moody, best known for a career of playing Fagin in the musical "Oliver!," died on Thursday, June 11 at the age of 91. Moody was the original Fagin in Lionel Bart's West End production of "Oliver!," which premiered in 1960. He was able to play the pick-pocketing grifter in Carol Reed's 1968 film adaptation, which won the Best Picture Oscar, earned Moody his lone Oscar nomination and also earned him a Golden Globe win for Best Motion Picture Actor - Musical/Comedy. Over the years, Moody returned to various productions of "Oliver!" to great acclaim, even picking up a Tony nomination for a 1984 Broadway revival. Moody famously turned down the opportunity to replace Patrick Troughton as the third Doctor, but he did appear in a "Doctor Who" audio play in 2005. His other credits include "EastEnders" and performances as Merlin in both "Unidentified Flying Oddball" and "A Kid in King Arthur's Court.
