After finishing this film, Jennifer Connelly and Maddie Corman both auditioned for the lead role in Labyrinthe (1986). Initially, Corman was very much considered, but when Connelly auditioned it was clear to director Jim Henson that she was the right choice for the role of Sarah.
Though production on the film was completed in December of 1984, it did not get a release until May 9, 1986. It was sent straight to cable TV, where it acquired a following. At the 1986 Sundance Film Festival where it premiered, it received a special merit for outstanding achievement.
