Country music legend Reba McEntire is ready to light up the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards. The iconic “Fancy” singer, 69, is preparing to host the award ceremony in Frisco, Texas. It will be her 17th time hosting the annual event.

McEntire, who has held the title of most female artist of the year nominations in ACM history, is no stranger to the spotlight of live television.

“I like to go visit with everyone. I love live television,” McEntire told People magazine. She added, “I get to sing a song, see what everybody else is promoting, their new material, but basically just to get to see my old friends and meet new people.”

Reba McEntire Returns As ACM Host

Reba McEntire really is the hostess with the mostest. She continues her already-packed schedule with a return to hosting the ACM Awards. This year will mark her 17th time as host of the Academy of Country Music Awards. She first hosted back in 1986.

The “Fancy” singer has won 16 ACM Awards and according to People magazine, holds the record for most nominations by a female artist. Reba said in a statement that she was “tickled to pieces” to host again.

Despite her super star status, she continues to hustle as a coach on The Voice, filming her upcoming NBC sitcom and now hosting the ACMs. She also has a surprise planned for viewers.

The 2024 CMT Music Awards are just wrapping up on Sunday night (April 7) at the Moody Center in Austin, Tex.

The annual awards show honored the best of country music videos over the past year, and was hosted by Kelsea Ballerini.

Throughout the night, many stars took the stage to present awards and there were several performances, including from Kelsea herself, Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Sam Hunt and a huge group performance by both a reunited Sugarland and Little Big Town, who just announced they’re going on tour together later this year!

Jelly Roll was last year’s most-awarded artist at the CMT Music Awards and it looks like he has a chance to repeat.

He’s among the top nominees for the 2024 edition, a list that also includes Cody Johnson (who won the most awards in 2022), Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson and Megan Moroney. All have three nominations apiece.

Ballerini will host the fan-voted award show, which airs live from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 8:00-11:00 Pm, Et/Pt on CBS. The show will also stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Today’s list includes 14 first-time nominees, from breakthrough artists to out-of-genre superstars. They include Amber Riley, Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Hozier, Koe Wetzel, Stephen Wilson Jr., Tyler Childers, Warren Zeiders, Zach Bryan, Anne Wilson, Ella Langley, The Castellows and Tigirlily Gold.

The CMT Music Awards have a five-way tie for the most nominations going into the 2024 telecast, with Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney and the show’s host, Kelsea Ballerini, picking up three nods apiece.

The nominations arrived Wednesday, less than a month before the CMTs take place at Austin’s Moody Center on April 7.

As has been the custom with the CMT Awards of late, the lineup of nominees for the top prize, video of the year, is a particularly loaded one, with 16 candidates presented to fans for the initial round of voting, to be whittled down to six before the second round begins on April 1, finally knocked down to three top vote-getters as more voting ensues on show day.

Five artists top the list of the 2024 CMT Music Awards nominees, with Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney each picking up three nominations. This year’s nominees also include 14 first-timers: Amber Riley, Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Hozier, Koe Wetzel, Stephen Wilson Jr., Tyler Childers, Warren Zeiders, Zach Bryan, Anne Wilson, Ella Langley, The Castellows, and Tigirlily Gold.

Winners will be announced during the awards show to be held at Moody Center in Austin, Texas on Sunday, April 7th. Kelsea Ballerini is hosting the show, which will air at 8pm Et/Pt (tape-delayed on the West Coast) on CBS and stream live on Paramount+.

Voting is now open at vote.cmt.com through April 1st for all categories except Video of the Year.

Reba McEntire lost her passion for music after her mother’s death in 2020, she said in a Today show interview on Tuesday.

The country icon told hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager about the sorrow she experienced after her mom, Jacqueline Smith, died from cancer at the age of 93.

She recalled telling her sister, Susie, “I said, ‘I just don’t think I’m going to do this anymore.’ [Susie] said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Sing.’ I said, ‘I always did it for Mama.’ She said, ‘Oh, you’ll get it back.'”

Eventually, McEntire found a path back by remembering who started her out.

Her mother cultivated her and her siblings’ love of music The four of them were hailed as “the singing McEntires” during junior high and high school, she shared.

“She was really encouraging for all of us kids, whatever we wanted to do,” McEntire said. “She taught us harmony.

Reba McEntire has opened up about the initial struggle to find her passion for music again following her mother’s death.

During an interview Wednesday on Today With Hoda & Jenna, the country music legend revealed that she nearly quit music after her mom, Jacqueline, died from cancer in 2020.

McEntire said she was going through her parents’ belongings with her sister Susie after her mom’s death when she shared her thoughts about the future of her music career.

“I was going through pictures. I said, ‘I just don’t think I’m gonna do this anymore.’ She said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Sing,'” the Grammy-winning singer said. “I said, ‘I always did it for Mama.’ She said, ‘Oh, you’ll get it back.’ I did.”

The Oscar nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards have been announced, and 2019 has been an impressively strong year for film. You don’t have to look much further than Bong Joon-ho’s meditation on class and capitalism in Parasite, or Quentin Tarantino’s groovy romancing of Hollywood days gone by, to appreciate the mostly strong quality amongst the nominees this year, big and small. A good place to start is with Netflix’s frontrunner for Best Picture. More than just a prestige project from a streaming service though, The Irishman is a beautiful and brittle eulogy offered by Martin Scorsese toward his legacy—and a final, exacting judgment on the gangsters and wiseguys associated with it.
